Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis and muscle pain

gastroenteritis

Avatar n tn Hi there. Starting on 3AM last Friday, I started having symptoms of what I thought was the flu going around. Diarrhea, vomiting, fever (101.5), muscle aches (mild to severe), sweats and chills, stiffness, weakness, some dizziness, no appetite. I automatically assumed it was the influenza virus but in almost everywhere I read, it says a cough and/or sore throat almost always follow. I've had neither, nor have I had any chest pain.
Avatar f tn Then pooped so much it filled my entire toilet. I woke back up at like four o clock in the morning with stomach cramps and muscle crams so bad I had to take a pain pill to help me get confortable .I am currently still in pain it is now almost 7am. Please tell me what this could possible be.
Avatar f tn Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot. Personally I would not take pain killers just because they can cause stomach issues and on a stomach that's already inflamed it can make it worse. While many things can cause stomach pain, it's extremely doubtful to be anything else if you were just exposed to people with stomach virus and then started to show classic symptoms of it.
Avatar m tn Hello, doctors. I'm a young, sexually active gay male. From time to time I meet a man from the Internet and engage in safer sex practices like fellatio (mostly with me performing it) and mutual masturbation. I never engage in anal sex with these men, and I always, always ask about HIV status. My last test was two months ago and the result was negative. So, normally, I'm not very worried about HIV. However, I have a concern that I hope you can address.
Avatar f tn Your persisting symptoms of pain, nausea and vomiting could indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime take oral fluids and OTC acetaminophen for the pain. Regards.
Avatar f tn The next day my lower back has starting hurting. I went in on Tuesday for pain in the back and she prescribed naxoprene and a muscle relaxer. The pain went away once from the pain medicine and now does nothing. I've been having bouts of diarrhea and then constipation also. Today my back pain is excrutiating and the past two days my stools have been dark brown/black. My last bm was lighter. I have had my gallbladder removed. I'm not quite sure if I should be worried and my Dr.
Avatar m tn ve been having bad neck and shoulder and shoulder blade pain on the right side for a few months. I have been taking Protonix since May, 40mgs once every evening. Because I'm not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain.
Avatar f tn I felt generally better since yesterday and will be going back to work tomorrow, but once the general weakness past I was left with sever acid reflux which is ongoing since yesterday, severe muscle pain and today I suddenly started to shiver intensly with no appernt reason (I was not cold at all) and couldn't move for about 15 minutes. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn I had a sudden bout of horrible chills, neck pain, and headache, which led to a fever of 104. Since that night I have had an up and down temperature ranging from almost normal to 102.5. Two nights in a row I've had drenching sweats along with lower back pain, stomach pain and even a bad eye ache. Any ideas on what I could have?
Avatar n tn Pancreatitis is another entity diagnosed by blood tests and ultrasound. Renal stones can cause vomiting and pain. The stones may be too small to be picked up by an ultrasound. Inflammatory bowel diseases can also be the culprits. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn The weakness seems to be gradual but gotten a lot worse in the aftermath of a bout of gastroenteritis which i was in hospital for. they did blood tests and the only thing flagged up was low thyroid levels- they repeated the blood test 2 months later and found the levels had returned to normal and it was left at that.
Avatar f tn You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn I also recently developed muscle and joint pain, particularly in my knees, hips, and muscles of the legs which is quite severe. I have no solid stools at all - just water. I have no appetite. I also find that if I fast and drink nothing but water for a day or so, I still have gurgling and numerous watery bowel movements the next day. I also sometimes have severe epigastric pain, not relieved by antacids or PPIs. 1. Rheumatology workup was negative - sed rate, ANA, RF, etc.

Avatar f tn My parents took me to the hospital 1 week ago because of gastroenteritis, and if I asked them too take me to the hospital they would get angry. So I'll just ask you guys here. Today my right hand pinky started twitching and still is. I saw a lot of scary things saying that it can be an underlying serious problem. 1392168 tn?1280074408 When I pass stool, it is usually fairly loose, and sometimes it only makes the pain worse. It can feel like my stomach is going to explode, and hurt so bad my head pounds, but it'll just feel like it's not going to come, yet at the same time, I know if I get up and try to get on with my day, I'll need to go again. Back around Christmas I had blood in my stool twice. It was bright, and I went to a clinic, but they said everything appeared fine and to just keep an eye on it.
Avatar n tn s Disease or one of the Irritable Bowel / Gastroenteritis conditions. Night sweats, Nausea, Abdominal Pain are also associated with these conditions.
693811 tn?1245871706 I did the liver flush, and used castor oil packs (as well as internally) for pain, and added apples and apple pectin and "stone ZFree" as part of my program. I have been able to work, but have continued to have pain in the bowels, Fasting is very painful, and passing stool is often not a relief. I find kipper snacks are a quick relief for pain and easy when I am out in the car away from home. I often take yogurt, but also take the soil based organisms.
