Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The diarrhea is unlikely to be due to liver failure. The diarrhea could be due to gastroenteritis, malabsorption syndromes, diverticulitis, Chron's disease, ulcerative colitis and parasitic infections. For proper evaluation, you will need to consult your primary care physician, who will do a stool analysis to determine the cause.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with gastritis and gal stones as being the root of the problems. This morning I went to the bathroom and my stool was green and brown in color, but some was coated in a yellow liquid. Should I be concerned? I'm going to the Dr. on Monday, but I was wondering if there was an urgent need to go on in? I'm taking 2 prilosec(20mg) everyday, and last night i took a bentyl(20mg).
693811 tn?1245871706 I have had IBS for 6 years, and have been handling it this last year with probiotics, zinc, vitamin D , tumeric and fish oil, besides my usual "green" multiple and kelp meal for trace minerals. I was seeing success, and then in a binge of candy on sale, caused what I think was gallstones. I did the liver flush, and used castor oil packs (as well as internally) for pain, and added apples and apple pectin and "stone ZFree" as part of my program.
Avatar n tn A day or two after this weekend I had a bout of diarrhea for 24 hours, and for the next week and a half was producing green stool, thin stool and broken stool. Along with this grumbling stomach I was very fatigued and 'brain-fogged'. After this week and a half I appeared to return to normal, however still a little bit foggy for 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Avatar n tn It can also be due to bleeding into gut such as due to acidity, IBS, inflammatory bowel disease and even due to gastroenteritis. If this repeats it self get the stool tested for occult or hidden blood. Hope this helps. Take care!
716841 tn?1289948186 The stool can become green on taking food rich in green leafy vegetables. If this is not the cause, then the stool is passing out of the large intestine at a very rapid rate so the bile does not break down. This can happen if you have malabsoroption syndromes. A viral infection can change the stool color to dark bottle green color. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar f tn I sat there for a minut and starting passing a stool. I suddenly got light headed, started sweating and vomited everywhere. I vomited until every last morsel of food was gone. Then pooped so much it filled my entire toilet. I woke back up at like four o clock in the morning with stomach cramps and muscle crams so bad I had to take a pain pill to help me get confortable .I am currently still in pain it is now almost 7am. Please tell me what this could possible be.

Avatar f tn 1. I am having bowel movements more frequently. I go 1-2 times a day on average. Prior to the last six months, I would go about 4-5 times per week. One of the reasons I think that the frequency has increased is because I constantly think, worry, and obsess about bowel movements. I have written a log of every bowel movement I have taken, for example, since the beginning of March. 2. My stools are slightly more watery than they have historically been.
Avatar m tn its been about a month now and my stool varies with every deffacation from semi hard to pure liquid to very loose im wondering how i can repair this and get back to normal. i also have had pains in my lower left abdominal region almost like i am constipated but even after a bowel movement it it still there. should i go back to the gastro specialist or is there something i can do that will be less drastic?
Avatar n tn If you are passing stools a lot and have stomach pain then in all probability you have either food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment.
Avatar m tn This is a sign of giardia, which you can pick up from your dog, cat, handling shoes that were in a watery area outside, just about anywhere. If this persists, and/or if the stool is green and floats, you will need to see a doctor for a diagnosis and a pill that will knock it out. If you don't take care of it, then you and your animal (presuming that you have one) are reinfecting each other, your animal should also be checked by a vet. Watch for diarrhia in your pet.
Avatar f tn I am 33 weeks and around the same time I had green stool. It's actually perfectly normal and means you must be eating more iron or salad or greens. Usually green stool is a good sign. But you can check with you doctor if you're concerned. I had it though and it went away about a week later.
Avatar n tn My son, age 22 months, has been having episodes of green stool for the past month, on and off. Sometimes it's very loose, and other times less so, but it becomes very bright green and it stains his skin, almost like food coloring. He hasn't eaten anything unusual or green. In fact, his appetite is low and he's a very picky eater - mostly yogurt, fruit, crackers. The pediatrician says it must be food-related, and she tested his stool for a bacteria that wasn't present.
Avatar f tn the more you have in you, the more your body can push out whatever its not liking. the most common causes of green stool are food coloring and excess fiber, but it does depend on what kind of green youre talking about. if its very slimy and not like normal diarrhea, its most likey bile, stomach acids, etc. if its an acceptable consistency, looks like youd expect it to, and just tinted, its most likely fiber or food colorings.
Avatar f tn Hello I am a 55 year old lady i have hep-c went through the full treatment , it didnt work as well as they wanted , and i lost my hair and alot of weight not able to eat or drink but i finished in May but my stomach alway hurts and my stool has been green for about 6 days now i have fever at night and am getting blister on my lips. what can i do .
Avatar f tn But lately for the past week or been pooping green, and Its dark green color, could this mean labor is starting soon? Also loosing bits and peices of my mucus plug here and there, abd having lower dull back pain all day long and lots of "lightening crotch" im so miserable!! Please help ladies!
Avatar f tn Leafy greens can cause loose green stool. I have IBS and used to get that every time I ate salad. Taking fiber helps, like metaucil. Iron can also make poop green, as can blue food coloring. Pregnancy=weird poop.
Avatar m tn I would say you need to go see a Gastroenteorologist if your problems have continued from more then a week. If they have subsided i would still keep a eye on it. Colored stool isn't always a sign of problems, it really is based on your diet and what you eat. But if there is pain and consistentsy with itr then you should definitley consult a doctor.
Avatar n tn Thx for the response. I called today. They said since I haven't eaten anything different it's bile and to give it over the weekend and if not corrected to call back. Now I'm researching and wondering about the too much bile issue. . .
Avatar f tn I am in my early fifties and for the first time ever I have noticed that my stool has been a forest green for the past week. I take no medications, have a balanced diet, probably at least a 50/50 ratio poultry/fish to veggies and am post menaposal. I feel fine, no discomfort or abdominal pain.
Avatar n tn Bile that is secreted in the first part of the small intestine is actually green. As stool is digested and passed through the large intestine it is turned into a darker brown color. If stool is still green by the time it is excreted, it could mean that it went through the large intestine too fast to be changed in color. This is often called "rapid transit" or "decreased colonic transit time" and diarrhea that is green in color could be the result.
Avatar n tn Why is my stool green? I will be 50 years old shortly. I am on no medications and have no health problems that I am aware of. Periodically, (like once last year & then a couple of times this month) my stool is grass green, usual normal consistency, & stays that way for a few days. What would cause this?
