Water will not replenish what your son is losing thru the vomiting and watery BM's. You need to give him orange juice and/or gatorade which wil replenish his electrolytes. But if he isn't keeping anything down and has the bad BM's this will not benefit him! Every virus is different, some are 24 hrs, some 48hrs, others a week, it all depends on what he has. He has to be getting dehydrated by now, so I would insist that they give him something for this.

I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. Gatorade and powerade is fine during pregnancy they have B-6 and B-12 which is really good for pregnant women.

Oh it's one but be careful with it because the number one cause for kids cavities and rotting teeth nowadays isn't from soda it's from Gatorade. Parents and schools think its healthier so they load kids up with it.

My doctor always tells me to mix it up and to drink water and Gatorade. Drinking a ton of water flushes away vitamins and other stuff you need.

i drink it if im desperate and havent gone shopping and feeling lazy lmao! but have at it! just NO ALCOHOL!!

Powerade also keeps you hydrated (: but gatorade does too & yes water too. Drinking alottt of water is good!

As well please keep in mind that Gatorade is full of sodium so if you have any blood pressure issues you should probably avoid it for that reason alone. Gatorade and similar drinks are really designed for people who work out vigorously to get a quick electrolyte replenishment and not for casual drinking.

I was told by a nutritionist that Gatorade has a lot of sugars in it and electrolytes. She said that its for athletes because they burn a lot of fat and energy the Gatorade puts it back but its not for pregnant woman I was drinking them all the time because I thought it was a healthy drink.

I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.

Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. Secondly Acid reflux gives you very bad stomach ache and usually lasts for a short time and you can possible be sick with it but feel much better straight away without diarroe and sickness ectr. I no this as i suffer from acid reflux myself. The term Gastroenteritis springs to mind as you say you have been sick and been havin toilet issues. This usually clears up within a few days and its like havin a flu virus or stomach bug.

I have POTS and I'm wondering how many ounces of a Gatorade type drink should I drink each day? How much water? Also, does anyone know of a brand of a healthier Gatorade drink? Not with all the corn syrup etc. Thanks!

Any time I drink red gatorade I get sick. Even if its just a little bit. Does anyone else have this issue with red gatorade? If I'm allergic to something in it does that affect the baby?
