Hello ladies, I'm new here, my baby boy is 2 weeks old and he's having gadsy problem, I'm breasfeeding and I watch what I eat, like no gassy vegetables, no chocolate, but it doesn't help, I see him cry and suffer trying to pass some gas and he wakes up just because of it so I don't have much sleep. Could it be from my prenatal vitamins? I don't know what to do.
Only when she is wet/dirty and hungry. I read that symptoms of colic is excessive crying, raising head, passing gas, and looks as if they have stomach cramps. My newborn has been fed about a hour and a half ago. She has been a constant head raiser since birth. She now grips at her stomach now to the point I had to cuff her hands. Basically I researched that a dead giveaway is painful excessive crying as if she is on fire. Which I haven't experienced just yet.
Bookworm, it's safe. But if you're having to resort to using it, it sounds like you're experiencing a lot of gas production and it's uncomfortable. Have you looked for the underlying cause? Are there other symptoms going on? Many times when someone produces a fair amount of uncomfortable gas it could be due to a food/foods that their system can't process well. Have you tried to exclude foods to see if that could be causing the problem?

Woke up today with horrible HORRIBLE gas. Not to get too detailed but it smells bad. Not that it's suppose to smell pleasant but it smells worse than usual. Is there anything I can do to help. I know I probably can't stop it but at least ease it up a little. I been giving my apologies to my boyfriend all morning. Usually I can get the silent ones off and he wouldn't have a clue. Not today!

My colicky baby cries a lot and gets all knotted up red and agitated when having g colic episodes. I bounce him, drive around, tried pacifiers, carry him front on chest with wrap and carrier, I coo him on my chest belly down, swing chair, bathing n massaging, stroller and even gripe water (mommy's bliss) . Its stressful seeing babies cry like that. How do you soothe your babies? Any more ideas?

Okay. So bottle fed babies tend to have more gas. Which makes complete sense. But my baby has excessive gas that I can tell sometimes causes him pain. I've started my son on advent, then moved to regular Tommie tipie, then to the anti colic Tommie tipie, , then playtex vent air, then Mam. Well I read really great reviews on the playtex drop ins for Gassy babies but my son is stuck on the mam nipple, which for those who don't know, it's more oval shaped like a pacifier.
He would cry and scream with nothing helping. He would even cry if it was just gas. They did a rectal exam and said the muscles were fine they werent tight.
His doctor put him on lactulose which seemed to help somewhat. He doesnt handle formula very well. He is breastfed minus 2 bottles a day for his meds. He now poops every 3 days like clock work. But he still cries and screams and is in alot of pain on those days and the day before.
Breastfed babies often don't have as much gas as bottle fed babies, they just don't feed as fast and take in as much air. I don't know which applies to you. That being said, placing him on his tummy is fine for having him burp. I was taught to sit my babies up on my lap and with my hand cupping them under the chin lean them slightly forward while patting their backs. The pressure on the tummy helps bring up the gas, and lying him on his tummy would likely have the same effect.
So i went to walmart, & when I was walking to the door. There was this car just standing there idk but the car was on & I passed behind it because cars were coming. And you know that gas smell, I smelled it but at the same time I was covering my nose & I started getting dizzy. Is that going to affect my baby?
