Afterwards, when the diarrhea eases up, I get this pain on my left side just below the ribs (I believe it is right about where the top of my stomach/pancreas) is located. It is actually painful to the touch. Last night it woke me up. I felt around and found the exact spot which really hurt bad. I got up and took a tums. That worked. I went back to sleep, woke up this morning and the pain is gone, so is the soreness. So, what is that? Could it be a gas pocket?
I am a 56 year old female with pain almost daily in my upper left side right along my ribs. 3 years ago I fell very hard on my right side and it seems thats when my troubles started. I went to Dr and they questioned gall bladder, had a hida scan and it was determined a low function gall bladder, so had it removed. But, my pain didnt go away, one of my major complaints was it hurt to wear my bra, just across my left side and into my back.
I have terrible pain in my upper stomach and tenderness on the upper left side, along with the pain i get nauseated and the pain radiates thru to my back and i break out in a sweat. i have alot of gas i have had one test which is a colonoscopy no diverticulitis or anything . I am very uncomfertable and it feels like when i am laying on my right side at night and take a deep breath that something is moving on my left side help....
I cannot sleep on my left side and sitting is uncomfortable like a pain under my left rib cage. I have extreme gas and feel sick to my stomach in the morning like a terrible hunger pain. It definitely has something to do with the cyst and ovary. My gyno told me it wasn't big enough to be causing this kind of pain but I have been in this kind of pain since last February.
I hurt terribly above my ribs, right below my chest. Pain has spread to left shoulder, but also right at times, left is just worse. I see above that each side dictates to either cardiovascular or stomach.
I'm 36 yr old male. A bit overweight.
I'm thinking it's gas, and not a serious condition. I can lay on one side and release gas.
Id appreciate any feedback.
Hello. I am a 40 year old woman, not overweight. I don't smoke or drink, and I take good care of myself. For over five years now, I've had on and off pain only on the left side of my abdomen. It is mainly on the upper side under my rib cage and can also wrap around to the back. Sometimes when I tense my stomach muscle and push on it where the pain is, it hurts, but not too bad.

Is the pain on the right side or left? Upper right abdominal pain is only one side effect of preeclampsia. Usually pain on the right side. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience blurred vision, headaches, along with other symptoms. Usually preeclampsia doesn't develope until after week 20 of pregnancy.

I have recently started having some stomach problems. Around 2 months ago I was experienceing lower left abdominal pain which felt like gas and bloating, which presisted untill about 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago everything I would eat started giving me indigestion and my stomach started to spasm and cause pain under my upper left and right rib cage. I started taking prilosec and antacids about 6 days ago. Starting yesterday I became naucious and have lost my appitite.
I have had left side pain for almost a year, it is usually low under my rib cage, sometimes radiates around to my back. I have a lot of gas burping and flatulance. i have had a colonoscopy, Endoscopu, and Ultra sound on my whole stomache gall bladder kidneys spleen, all turned out normal... Could this have anything to do with my overies? I had a partial hysterectomy 25 years ago for a fibroid. My Ovaries were left in , they were fine at that time.
About half an hour after the ice cream, I was sitting at the table with my laptop… I leaned to the left, and felt this bloated, stabbing sharp pain in the upper left side of my abdomen! Every time I moved to the left, I would feel it.

He has severe pain in his upper left side, under rib cage – particularly after eating. He has had 2 colonoscopies, upper and lower GI with contrast, and an ultra sound. Doctor has been treating him for Crohn's, but NONE of the medications are working. He has tried Sulfasalazine, Asocol, Imuriad, Lealda, etc. ALL of them cause him to have SEVERE LEG CRAMPS unless he drink ridiculous amounts of water. He has had the traditional rounds of prednisone and antibiotics, but to no avail.
hi i recently had my gall bladder taken out and got immediate relief for about 1 month of symptoms but now i have pain in my upper left side radiating down to my left side and i have indegestion and some nausea again. it is almost like my gall bladder was never taken out. i had the light ran down my throat and into my stomach at the time of surgery with no ulcers or sign of any problems. what could this be now? what is the sign of appendicits?

Your symptoms sound very close to a disease known as Diverticulitis. It's classical symptoms include left side and central abdominal pain, bloating, pressurend just the uncomfortable feeling of hurt in the region.
I am a 25 year old woman who for the past 4 years has had persistent and growing pain in the upper left quadrant of my abdomen. It is an almost constant pain felt more acutely when I sit and most when I lay down at the end of the day. It was relieved significantly during my pregnancy (my daughter is 18 mos now) but returned even more severely soon after I had her.
I can feel it all the time. I also complained about pain on the left side of side (upper ab area) so he had a lung xray to check to see if there was any damage to my diaphram (don't know where my doc got that idea but i never spent 8 yr extra in medical school) It came back fine. Complain again about the pian and told me to drink more water... I am not consiptate but my bowels have been a little funky...
