Gas causing tightness in chest

Common Questions and Answers about Gas causing tightness in chest

Avatar n tn pylori bacteria in the stomach, they will eat those carbohydrates, break them down and produce gas. This gas enters the blood and then lungs, and it can be measured in expired air. This is the first test, you should have, since H. pylori may be the main cause of your problem. If test is positive, you get antibiotics for a week, and healing follows in most cases. These bacteria cause gastritis (inflammation or ulcers in the stomach) and may cause excessive acid secretion.
Avatar n tn You note upper GI discomfort (burning in the chest area) radiating to the back, bloating, gas, as well as hyperthyroidism. The pain is brought on by eating. The GI symptoms are known as dyspepsia - simply defined as upper GI discomfort. Causes can include an ulcer, inflammation of the stomach and esophagus, GERD, or cancer. Other potential causes include gall bladder diseases or pancreatitis. You stated you are interested in non-invasive tests.
Avatar n tn I am 18 an year old female and for the past week or two, I have been having chest pains in both the left and right sides of my chest. Along with the pain, there is a tightness and pressure within my chest and it is very uncomfortable. Yesterday, my heart began beating very fast and very hard. This feeling is very uncomfortable and will not subside. Are these signs of a heart attack or heart condition?? And if so, what should I do?
Avatar n tn could I have a pulled/strained/torn muscle or ligament in my chest wall that could be causing the chest discomfort? One day when I took 600 mg of Ibuprofen for a headache, I noticed it helped the chest discomfort some. Thank you for taking the time to read my question. This chest discomfort has been a big nuisance and I am tired of having it and just want to find out what is truly causing it.
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have had a weird tightness in my upper/middle left quadrant for about 9 years...that used to only flare up during PMS and stress...yet in the last 1 1/2 months, it has become full-blown, literally. Upper/mid left side bloating, tightness, shortness of breath, yawning, heartburn, sloshing...and it's chronic now, regardless of what I eat or drink...24/7. It's worse when I am standing...I am just now learning how to deal with the anxiety attacks I get from it.
Avatar n tn i have experienced tightness in the upper part of my left chest. Even though their is no pain associated with it i dont seem to know what is causing it. I have had a EKG done since i have had by pass surgery and everything was Ok. I have seem my doctor who has put me on antibitics for a various kinds of infectins. The tightness seems to move around to differant spots. I have acid relux really bad at times and I am experiencing a metalic taste in my mouth when i get up in the morning.
Avatar n tn I get the same occasional click in my chest mainly when i have been laying down for a long period of time like when i wake up in the morning. It only been happening the past year. What people have said about loose muscles around the joints sounds promising at least in my case. I used to work out at the gym a lot with heavy weights and as a result gained a lot of strength and tone.
915370 tn?1243164680 Ever since I started taking it, if I ingest something (the medicine included) sometimes I can feel a pain in my chest. To illustrate where this is, if you put a finger on your right nipple (breast) and move over 1.5 inches, that is where there is discomfort. To best describe the discomfort.... it is like having that sharp pain after bad hiccups... yet if gas leaves one of two entry ways (I burp or ...... eherm) then I feel slightly better, however even as I speak the pain persists.
Avatar n tn 1- At times I get a tight feeling in my chest and the only way to relieve this tightness is to crack it by moving my shoulders back and forth. I do have other Heart problems (a large burden of PVC's and possilbe ARVC or RVOT VT) and am wondering if this could possibly be connected to any of these issues? 2- At times when i wake from my sleep, i feel as though my heart is "fluttering", but when i take my pulse it seems normal. Any idea as to what this could be from?

Avatar n tn I am not sure about the "ball thing", but I can relate to gas some how causing weird cardiac responses. It causes tightness in my chest and it feels like an irregular beat. Once again the doctors don't seemed concerned. If they haven't seen it in the Medical Books, you can forget it.
Avatar n tn I had my gallbladder taken out 2 months ago and have had strange symptoms of pain and tightness in areas in my abdomen, chest and neck since. I also have some relief when I laying down, or when I raise my chin higher than parallel to the ground. In addition to the tight feeling, the front center of my neck is tender to the touch and seems to "get stuck" and be cramped when I swallow - like a lump in my throat. Glands tender also.
Avatar f tn I am an 82 year old man and experience hiccups and tightness in my chest only when eating. What can I do to relieve these symptons?
Avatar n tn So, personally I think this could in many people be a cause of gas related symptoms. I also have this chest tightness, increasingly after meals. When I inhale very deeply through my nose, it induces a belch, yes. Obviously I'm not literally swallowing air then, but there's a theory that while inhaling, air is sucked into the esophagus and into the stomach and is expelled immediately as a belch again.
Avatar n tn burpy feeling, stomach pain, heart racing, chest pain, gas, cramps in my sides, headaches, and they are ussaully moer than just discomfort, they are unbearable, i ussually can not take my mind off of them so that makes it worse. SPOOOKYGIRL: please dont let this rule your life....
Avatar f tn I still get tightness in chest, pain in chest but not the center and palpitations if I think too much, all the symptoms go away after using the bathroom. But this has left me feeling scared and anxious and has really slowed me down and affected my relationships. I have had endless EKG tests with normal reports, two Echo cardiographs with normal reports and healthy lvef, one stress test - no sign of ischemia. And my doctors tell me my heart is strong and good, its anxiety and gas.
Avatar f tn I am 16 years old and 115 pounds I was sick for a few days last week and went to the doctor. I was having something like muscle spasms in my chest under my ribs they told me I had massive acid reflux. So I have been drinking water and powerade (no soft drinks) since.
Avatar f tn In the last few days i've started to get flutters in the middle of my chest more to the right (above my heart) that feel like a rolled up piece of paper is being scrunched in my chest or a butterfly trying to move around and it's uncomfortable. It doesn't hurt or anything but makes my Anxiety kick in, but i have noticed i get it when i am anxious already. My Dad said it sounds like Esophagual spasms, could it be? Can Anxiety do this to me? I'm really worried.
Avatar n tn I've always had a major issue with belching, and sometimes when I have a large build up of gas in my stomach, I will feel extremely nauseous, discomfort in the chest (spasms of the esophageal sphincter), heightened anxiety, heart palpitations, difficulty with breathing rhythm, sweating, and overall really crappy. I try to belch, but can't, only to take in more air. When my esophageal sphincter finally relaxes, I will let out a massive belch, and all symptoms disappear instantly.
Avatar n tn but i'm not convinced with the diagnosis of either the cardiologist or the chest doctor , now i'm getting chest tightness without my heart rate going up, without hot flashes ,without feeling panic !! , every body keeps telling me it's stress , but i'm not stressed at all !! , i got it several times after or during eating lunch it lasted about 20 mins and i couldn't take my breath and my heart rate was fine .. can it still a panic attack without the hot flashes and the heart rate rise ?
Avatar n tn I, too, suffer from this gas associated arrhythmia or atrial fibrillation. I can have it in the middle of the night or day. There is an improvement when I take Pepcid or Diovel, but the best bet is Ovol extra strenth or Gax X. If I don't take anything it can get pretty scarey and last a long time. My entire chest throbs, my esophogus feels tight and I feel a pressure on the back of my tongue. Also feel a sudden fatigue.
Avatar n tn Once the heart is in this state you are not pumping blood efficiently and you may experience some dizziness and exhaustion. If you have pain, tightness in the chest and or not able to breath you need to get to the doctor a.s.a.p.. I like that you keep track and take note of the different things going on. Are you taking any kind of medications or herbal or vitamin supplements? Do you drink coffee or are you sensitive to caffeine?
Avatar f tn I sweat here and there. Laying in bed is oainful in the arm pit, middle chest, jaw and at times the left arm. When I get excited or angry it gets worse. I am on Liptior, Niaspan, Plavix, Zetia, Metorpral, Asprin and Lexeprel. When I run the impact causes such pain in the chest and left area I have to stop. Nitro is a temp fix at best. I am called a challenge and am down about this.
Avatar f tn and i've missed bout 3 nights of sleep this week.. p.s. i've been having stomach problems lately like excessive gas...could this be causing the chest discomfort? i know the pain is located at about the same place the top of my stomach is..
Avatar n tn I had an ablation 4 weeks ago and since that time I have been experiencing chest tightness, pressure, and sharp pains in the heart. I am seeing my doctor on a weekly basis to determine the cause and undergo treatment. Following a work up of tests (echo, nuclear stress, ekg, etc.) the doctor has determined that everything in the heart is normal and that this "discomfort may be something that I just have to ride out.
Avatar m tn The situation got really worse a month ago when I couldn't swallow my food + shortness of breath + chest tightness. One night while I was eating I felt pressure around my neck is like somebody is chocking me and started burping + hiccups but no vomiting or acid came out. It is like a painful hiccups that made me put my hands around my neck all the time as I feel the painful pressure. Then I started having pain at the esophagus & throat area with shortness of breath and chest pain.
