Has anyone ever been put on gabapentin for severe anxiety/panic disorder? My doctor just prescribed it for me to help ween me off xanax that I've been on for 7 years. Was wondering if this has ever helped anyone?

Good for you...anything that helps is great. I currently take gabapentin 4 times per day (300mg) and I use Dilaudid daily. When I run out before I pick up my next script I find that Gabapentin really helps with the restless legs, sleep etc. It is almost like a universal drug. I heard that Gabapentin used to be used for Opiate withdrawl but I can't remenber where I heard that from. WEhat have you headr about Gabapentin and it's uses?

I saw a Nurologist today who prescribed Gabapentin for Degenerative disc Disease. I was informed that surgery was out of the question because it was over a large area, wasn't very helpful and didn't really expalin why i was prescribed it. i was also prescribed amitriptyline for the night time.

Gabapentin is a drug that many finds poops out and needs to be increased on a regular basis until you're too high to do it anymore. There used to be someone on this website who used it for anxiety, and he found it worked when he reached the maximum dose and it pooped out to go down for awhile and back up again. Was a long time ago, so don't know how he did it. Was on the anxiety forum, I think.

You have to talk with your neurologist. The fact that it has moved around the body makes me think it might be more of a brain or high cervical issue. The top and back of the head are innervated by spinal nerves that exit at C2 on the spine. Itching is one of those strange paraesthesias that many PwMS experience. I guess it is more accurately a dysesthesia since an Itch is defined as a "unpleasant sensation.

started 300 milligrams of gabapentin last night .. I didn't sleep at all I watch the Sun come up and I'm so full of energy and anxious is this normal?

My husband uses Torodol for kidney pain it seems to work pretty good.

to go along with the Gabapentin question.... I am on 2400mgs. a day, now with all you guys are saying, I think maybe it is to much, but now I'm scared to lower the dosage..... does it seem HIGH to you guys???

Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going. I can't believe how well gabapentin has worked. I've been thru the withdrawals going cold turkey 3 times in the past without anything to help. I was presribed gabapentin about a month ago for pain. It didn't help for that. I did some research on it and it is used for withdrawals. It has been 90% easier than before and trust me, I know how bad it is.

Hello, I am new to this group. I have had more than 85 blood tests since I was diagnosed with Lyme in July of 2014. All have been negative. I have been on may drugs for pain and currently on Gabapentin for vocal cord/coughing issues and leg pain (knee, calf, left side back). I don't think it is helping much. Is anyone else on Gabapentin?

Has anyone expierence swelling of the face with gabapentin? I know it can be a side effect. My question is; Is this an allergic reaction or is the dosage too much? Actually my face feels stiff at times and cheeks get sore. If it is the gabapentin, what would be the alternative? Thank you med help family........

Has anyone else taken Gabapentin for all of these pains neuralgia migraines? I'm petrified to take this drug because of all the bad side affects! Did it help or harm anyone? Or should I wait to see the NS first before I take it?

I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.
