Avatar f tn I was put on Gabapentin for fibromyalgia symptoms today. If anyone else has used it, how well did it work?
Avatar m tn I think that gabapentin causes the vision problems, I've been on 3200 mgs of gabapentin for a long time and I've noticed my eyes getting blurry, I've recently stopped the gabapentin and was put on lyrica and I feel better, I think I need my dose moved up but the gabapentin was really messing with my mind.
Avatar n tn I have had Fibromyalgia for several years. I take Gabapentin only as needed when the pain from neuritis (right cheek) gets bad. Most of the time I take Essiac (available at health food stores for pain relief). When it gets too bad I take Naproxen. When I first got Fibromyalgia, I was all bent over with pain - could hardly walk and it was a chore to get out of bed in the morning. I can truly say that Essiac has helped me tremendously.

675329 tn?1297288378 i have been treated with hydrocodone for two years. i want to stop this because i don't want to depend on this med. i was put on gabapentin 100 it does help me fairly well but i noticed some weight gain and i don't eat too much with this med. the dr switched me to zonegram when i read the side effect of it can cause a rash which can cause death i threw it out. then we tried topamax. i was on it one night. i also have to take serequel 100 for anxiety and wellbutrin 300 and buspar 7.
Avatar f tn I see my new endocrinologist for that tomorrow. Good luck with the gabapentin. I hope it works as well for you as it seems to for me.
Avatar m tn Don't try to replace an opiate high with it. I just got prescribed Gabapentin last month, for opiate withdraws. I googled the snot out of it, came up with lots of info........ it causes drowiness at high doses (stoned), and weight gain. I'm only taking 300 mg per day, (i've read stories of 2400mg per day) aslso read that at 1000mg for longer than a month requires a taper down so you don't get WD's from it.
Avatar f tn cymbaltia is great really works no more burning
1577364 tn?1296689784 I was diagnosed with fibro and degenerative arthritis 6 yrs ago. I also found out recently that I have obstructive sleep apnea, which only serves to complicate matters even further. I was on Lyrica, but have stopped taking it because of the weight gain. As of now, I am taking Klonopin and and benadryl at bedtime so I can sleep. I am going to ask my primary to help me get off the Klonopin because I just don't like being drug dependent.
Avatar f tn I take Gabpentin for fibromyalgia. It works super. I was originally prescribed it by a Arthritis doctor. It made a huge difference in handling the nerve pain my legs, arms, and body. I just went through 2 weeks without it and just back on this past week. My body relaxed and I was comfortable after taking it again. I wouldn't be without the drug. Not having it made me appreciate Gabapentin all the more. I encourage to try it.
Avatar m tn After being on Aropax for some time ,I developed symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The drugs side affects did cause mild muscle akes and muscle spasims but nothing bad until I got the Fibro myalga. I ran an experiment with my Doctor and weaned off them and the Fibromyalga went over a few weeksin a decreasing fashion. I then went back on it again and the problems returned.
Avatar f tn Hey there I'm new to this site, but I've had fibromyalgia for about 5-6 yrs. It took my Dr about three mnths to get a diagnosis. Since there is no diagnostic test for it. Its a process of elimination. I know your frustration. Your insurance sounds whacked! Please tell its not an HMO ?! Lyrica is not an experimantal drug for this treatment the FDA approved it for the treatment of fibromyalgia. I took it for a few yrs.

Avatar m tn I am not an expert or doctor but I think she should look into a doctor for a spine issue or a neurologist for ms. The people on the ms forum have a lot electricity type symptoms. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Hi, I have fibromyalgia and have had bursitis in both shoulders which were treated with injections, I’ve recently had a flare up of my fibro and now seem to be left with upper arm pain and fatigue and I’m also finding if I don’t sit with my neck supported, I get a lot of pain and tiredness. I’m wondering if this pain is my fibromyalgia or could it be something else. I have upped my gabapentin to 300mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn Also I have heard of some people taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain, and Also you can take Neurontin/ Gabapentin for nerve pain (for the peripheral neuropathy) None of these have tylenol in them. Hope this helps and good job on being clean for 12 years!!
Avatar n tn I currently take 45 mg time-release morphine tablets (1-15mg every 8 hours) and 30 mg of Percocets (1-325/5mg every 6 hours). I still suffer much pain. My doctor has suggested we try Gabapentin. Can I take that WITH my current meds or does he mean instead of? From reading these other posts, I don't think it would do as well for me by itself. Thank you for your advice.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after 4 years of fatigue and then having a stiff neck for. a year and then pain. I went to a rheumatologist and on my first and only visit was told it is fibromyalgia. Thank you for your support, it does help to vent!
Avatar m tn A few years ago I was having pain in my legs and trouble sleeping and thought that my nystagmus was due to an underlying condition like fibromyalgia and told my doctor about my concern and a muscle biopsy revealed that I did have fibromyalgia. The pain is not that bad and my insomia is gone. I was wondering if I could take anything for my nystagmus and if there was a way to remove the "idiopathic" and know what causes it with an MRI scan or something like that.
1039200 tn?1314912008 ve not heard of it being used as a mood stabiliser for bipolar, though it is supposed to have anti-anxiety properties. It is an anti-convulsant recommended for Fibromyalgia which is what I take it for though only in a low dose so can't say I've noticed any difference with anxiety.
Avatar f tn So I was on gabapentin for 2 and a half years. I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain from scoliosis. I'm already prescribed tramadol. When they put me on it, it helped me a lot. But I started getting a rash. But I had no clue it was from my drug. Looking back it's the ONLY thing it could be from. I've got spots all over the back of my arms and legs. Some are scars from the ones that where healing. But they wouldn't close!
Avatar f tn One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
Avatar m tn I was given lyrica for nerve pain in my legs about four years ago. I didn't take a lot of it, only about 50 mgs every other day. My pain got worse, so I asked the doctor if I could double the dose. Doubling just the first couple of times caused swelling in my mouth and around my eyes, so I dropped lyrica altogether. In no time I was hit with xanax type withdrawal symptoms: depersonalization, lack of concentration and dizziness being the most frightening.
Avatar f tn I've been on gabapentin for a few years to manage pain from multiple spinal fusions (I've have 5 total fusions and I am totally fused from C2 down to T2), chronic pain & fibromyalgia. It used to help with the pain and excruciating neuropathy from all the damaged nerves but like most meds it lost its effectiveness over time. It kept getting increased and for at least the last 6 months my dosage has been 800mg/3x a day.
