neurontin

Avatar f tn As I said Zoloft was a wonderful drug for me and worked great for my panic attacks and anxiety to where they were completely gone for years, and it may not work for you at all. You just need to try and see what happens that is the best you can do!!
6937315 tn?1386287618 ve not had any negative experiences with it to report, and a LOT of my patients were on it...some for neurological pain, some for depression/anxiety, some for seizures, etc. It actually has a lot of indications. I'd say give it a try, especially if your doc has instructed you to decrease your Xanax dose already. Let us know how you're doing!
Avatar n tn You have received some very good information already. Although anxiety attacks can go on like that for hours, and sometimes be anxiety without the fear component, I would be more inclined to look into the cardiophysiologic explanations, and treat the symptoms accordingly. If gabapentin works, it is a good medication for you..but pursuing the "why" is still a good course of action.
7827044 tn?1399391443 Last night my BP was 154/84 and pulse was 92 with the severe dizziness and jello legs. I took all my meds I take for anxiety, klonopin, gabapentin and vistaril and just laid there and tried to stay calm. I was shaking all over, like the freezing chills but wasn't cold. It took about 2 hrs for the attack to go away and my vitals to return to normal. It was very scary. This is the 3rd time I have had an attack that severe.
1039200 tn?1314912008 ve not heard of it being used as a mood stabiliser for bipolar, though it is supposed to have anti-anxiety properties. It is an anti-convulsant recommended for Fibromyalgia which is what I take it for though only in a low dose so can't say I've noticed any difference with anxiety.
1772374 tn?1326246237 m currently taking Gabapentin, Xanax when needed, Busiprone, and Lexapro. Lexapro is an SSRI for depressant and is known for helping anxiety. Gabapentin is a tranquilizer/mood-stabalizer. Busiprone is an anti-anxiety drug as well but non-benzo. It works on Serotonin, and a little bit on Dopamine. Right now after taking the gabapentin and 2mg xanax im feeling a lil at ease. Plus what helps me a tad is to take a walk and observe nature in a sort of meditative way. Meditation is good too.
Avatar m tn Have you tried gabapentin for your epilepsy it's also works for anxiety. I currently take it for my anxiety and it works very well I take 300mgs 3-times a day. Maybe that will help. Good luck!!
1843685 tn?1319457503 You'll find mixed reviews on all AD's as we all respond differently to the medications and what works for one may not for another. It's trial and error as to what will work for each of us so all you can do is give it a try and see how you do...it's this way for all these types of medications. Work closely with your doctor when starting a new medication and address any concerns you may have with him.....
4544656 tn?1371593548 I've been on gabapentin for 3 years. My pdoc tried to taper me off by dropping 100 mgs 300 mgs down to 200 mgs). This caused a severe withdrawal reaction and I ended in the hospital! I then went back up to 300 for a few months to stabilize. Now, under doc supervision, we are going much slower. I got the gaba in liquid form from my pharmacy. 5 ml equals 250 mgs. I have been able to decrease 10 mgs every 2 weeks down to 200 symptom free!
Avatar f tn Thank you for posting this. I used Gabapentin briefly for nerve pain caused by my crippled back. It definitely made me feel 'high'. It also made me very 'shaky' and irritable. I quit taking it after about a week. Anyone who uses this drug to stave off wds needs to be very careful. Congrats on your time off of the vics, and good luck to you on your journey off the Gabapentin.
2010625 tn?1329372056 But they gave it to me as like a 3 in 1 for bipolar mood stabilizer, anxiety, and for the pain. It might be helping some, but not really that good.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone! I am a 16-year-old girl and I take gabapentin for nerve pain (we think...) My neurologist gave me a perscription for 1800 mg per day. The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old male. I was prescribed Gabapentin for neurological pain management by the VAMC in Tampa, Florida. According to some post I've read, Gabapentin is a med that one must be weened off of. I've been taking Gabapentin off and on to help with pain so I can sleep. I don't take it all the time because of the side effects. Sometimes, but not all the time, I feel like I'm having a bad hangover after the medication wears off.
2033870 tn?1329481339 neurontin is an old drug very well suited for anxiety. the reason why pdocs don't recommend it is because it's a weak mood stabilizer NO MORE. Yet I know people who reported that they find it extremely good. Besides one of the few if not the only one with almost no serious side effects.
Avatar m tn John, Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum has written a book about treating pain, and this article taken from the book may be helpful to you: Effective Treatment for Neuropathic (Nerve) Pain http://www.ei-resource.org/expert-columns/dr.-jacob-teitelbaums-column/effective-treatment-for-neuropathic-pain/ If that url doesn't work, you can google for the title and author. Also, you can look at Amazon for his books, and read the reviews.
4971738 tn?1390565384 I took risperidone (risperdal) off and on for many years. It helped calm down my irritation, anger and psychotic symptoms--hallucinations and delusions. I started on a small dose 1 mg then 2mg. I climbed to 6 mg until my prolactin level went way past 1000, and my gynecologist went up in arms about it because it completely stopped my menstruation. It got lowered to 4 mg.
Avatar f tn My orthopedic specialist tried switching me to Lyrica for 3 months back in 2014 with horrible immediate side effects. Switched back to Gabapentin. I am asking if there is another neuropathic pain medication to use as an alternative to Gabapentin. I agree that the Gaba helps with nerve pain, however the side effects are scaring me. I plan on discussing this with my PM but want to know more before going in.
Avatar f tn There are many stories out there where people abruptly quit and had a withdrawal syndrome from stopping the GABApentin. For me, that risk from taking it for a week vs the anxiety and depression from withdrawals was worth it. For some, it seems to have an amazing ability to minimize withdrawal syndromes. It did just that for me.
1983221 tn?1333506185 I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say
Avatar n tn Actually, gabapentin is used for anxiety, in higher doses than those used for nerve pain. It's off-label, of course, but isn't everything these days? I only know this because my psychiatrist is considering it for my anxiety, and that forced me to research it, otherwise I'd be clueless. How well it works is another matter. But heart rate isn't causing your anxiety here.

Avatar m tn I had a moment of trouble breathing but I emailed a doctor and they Asked my oxygen and it was literally 98-100 at the time of my breathing episode. I contributed it to my anxiety. Tomorrow I will go to urgent care and ask for a catscan but idk if that’s crazy. On top of all of this my girlfriend just recovered from Covid 15 days ago and today she’s feeling sick bc after she quarantined I visited her and I then became sick . Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
299889 tn?1257339377 xanax is good. there is one option you can discuss with your pdoc, it's gabapentin (neurontin) it's very good for anxiety and is a mood stabilizer. my pdoc doesn't want it for me i don't know why, he said neurologists rather than psychiatrist who precribe it. but i read it's effective for anxiety.
