Avatar m tn PLEASE INFORM ME HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE NOCTURNAL URINARY FREQUANCY FROM OTHER CAUSES
Avatar n tn Hi Bri, My bladder retains 1/3 of the fluid. It causes me more frequent urination, a little discomfort and the feeling that I still need to empty. At times, I can roll around while on the toilet and a little more will come out. There are many reasons why this is happening. Mine is because I have a prolapsed bladder, urethra spasms and nerve damage from a previous bladder surgery (huge mistake). I would wait and see what the urologist wants to do.
Avatar n tn Pollakiuria is defined as frequent daytime urination that may occur as often as every 5 minutes, although usually the child urinates 3-4 times/hour. This is a common pediatric complaint and the parents are usually concerned that their child has diabetes mellitus or a UTI. The majority of children are between 4-6 years of age. Pollakiuria is more common than urinary tract infections in children. Symptoms may last for years, but the average length is 7-12 months. Frequent characteristics: 1.

Avatar m tn I saw a question about frequent urination and stress. I wanted to add this comment. I was having severe frequent urination problems. I went to several doctors and even the Mayo Clinic. I was eventually diagnosed with "chronic prostatitis." Not wanting to give up because of the problems it was causing me, I looked at stress as the possible cause. I went to a psychologist for biofeedback training -- relaxation training -- and after 3 or 4 weeks my symptoms subsided.
Avatar f tn I had the worst excessive urination from low potassium. I lived in the toilet and was getting splits on my skin down there from constantly using toilet paper. I was using Savlon cream to relieve the pain. The relief of orange juice! High in potassium. Went from excessive urination to normal OVERNIGHT! Low potassium causes dry skin too btw.
Avatar m tn t it true that HSV-2 can cause frequent urination? and not everyone gets ulcers, lesions, and blister? correct? If this was from hsv-2 would my symptoms last this long. going past 2 weeks of frequent urination? The STD clinic said it could be from that and my heart sank. thank you for your time and i swear i did not mean to imply that i preferred the other doctor. He just knew more about me. I apologize once again.
Avatar f tn Since the last 5 days, i have been experiencing frequent urination. After i pass urine, i feel the urge to pass urine again after half hour or hour. Initially, there was slight burning when passing urine but not anymore. I got urine test done but it shows no infection. One month ago, i got digestive problems and acidity and doctor gave me Zantac for that and i was fine within a week. Now ocassionally, i experience acidity and burning in stomach so i avoid fried foods.
Avatar f tn I have frequent urination (every hr) and burning urethra (sometimes when I am dehydrated) for 4 months now.I have gone thru 20 days of levo,20 days of cipro,1.5gm of azithromycin and finally Cystoscopy 5 weeks back. The result in cystoscopy said mild chronic cystitis.I have been taken vesicare and xatral for 40 days now.I went to see the urologist again and he said he cannot pinpoint what is the root cause yet and it should clear on its own in 1-2 months.
Avatar n tn Not certain of the technical mechanisms involved, but I do know that sleep apnea causes frequent nighttime urination, and it makes sense to me that if that happened while the person was in a sound sleep that an accident could happen. If he were my husband I would push the issue. Sleep apnea is damaging to the sufferer's health and well being. If your husband balks, you may have to bring up the bedwetting. I'm betting if he thought this issue could be resolved, he'd be glad to do it.
Avatar f tn The amount fluid intake by you is appropriate. Coming to nocturia it can occur due to a variety of conditions like diabetes, prostatic hyperplasia etc. It would be better you get a check of blood sugars. Cramps in the calfs can occur due to dehydration, over exertion of muscles, alcohol, due to some drugs etc. I think that cramps in the calf could be due to dehydration, but nocturia should be evaluated. Get a check of your blood sugars and take the opinion of your physician. Take care.
Avatar n tn -Frequent Urination, gets worse the more liquids I drink BUT I can sometimes not drink anything for 6+ hours (not an exaggeration), and have to urinate every 20 minutes (ranging from medium to very small amounts of urine) -I often urinate amounts which clearly are too little (in volume) compared to my feeling of urgency -Abdominal discomfort/pressure (where I would assume my bladder is), 2 inches or so above the base of my penis -90% of the time it takes more effort than expected to begin
Avatar m tn t it cause larger post void volumes?, which itself can cause nocturia. By the way by definition, nocturia alone, as in your case, is not a sufficient condition for Over Active Bladder (OAB) as can be seen from the following link: http://www.auanet.org/common/pdf/education/clinical-guidance/Overactive-Bladder.pdf In OAB, increased urinary frequency (both Day and Night) along with low urine volume with urgency, with out UTI are considered the main criteria.
Avatar m tn A couple of years ago, I had a problem with frequent urination, urgency of urination and swollen testicles. Right testicle swelling more then left testicle. My girlfriend at the time suggested I see my internist which I did. He took a culture of prostate fluid and performed a prostate exam. He told me I had an enlarged prostate then called me a couple of days later stating I had a prostate infection. He prescribed ciprofloxacin hcl 500mg for several weeks and referred me to a urologist.

Avatar m tn Hi, You need to consult a physician and rule out some of the common causes of nocturia (night time urination). For e.g. Diabetes mellitus, a stone in the urinary tract, any enlargement of the prostate (which is less likely considering your young age). Also will suggest you to avoid drinking too many fluids around bedtime and particularly avoid drinking tea, coffee and beer around the bedtime.

Avatar f tn I already know I have Herpes 2, but am not back in the US so I can get on medication. I have frequent nighttime urination which is caused by the Herpes 2 ( i had done a bacteria urine test and it was negative) . I just wondered, when I get on Valtrex will it take care of the frequent urination at night or do I need to get other medication for that? Anyone out there ever experience it. I think a lot of persons come here for support, not just because they are worried they might be infected.
Avatar m tn There are many possible causes for frequent urination. eg. Do you drink a fair amount of caffeine (coffee, tea or soda pop)? A urinary tract infection (UTI) would certainly do it. A bruised uretha could do it.
