155056 tn?1333638688 I'm always lurking, but not posting as much. This site and forum empowered me so much before my surgery, and we really do need to keep getting this message through and helping our new posters. I'm in Australia and its Ovarian Cancer awareness month here, and sadly no-one is really aware. I've been putting regular posts on my FB page about OVCA and why my profile is always teal. I agree lets offer as much help and support as we can.
4097344 tn?1349754756 Some offer a sliding scale depending on your income. Also, some bloodwork, cholesterol, bp, glucose testing is offered free at drug stores and health fairs. Perhaps Social Services or a church group such as Salvation Army can offer some help. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many things that at best it is only an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms (of which your daughter has many), and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Her TSH is well within the range but that does not preclude being hypothyroid. That T4 range is strange looking to me, but assuming that is correct her T4 result is a bit low in the range.
1671321 tn?1303778223 Your daughter's TSH is somewhat on the high side. Several years ago, AACE recommended that TSH range be changed to 0.3-3.0. However, children's TSH tends to run higher than adults', so the range your lab used might have been age-adjusted. Free T4 looks quite good. It's right about mid-range, which is the rule of thumb for FT4. The missing element as far as thyroid is concerned is free T3.
Avatar m tn 3) In addition to the previous question, would having a casual beer (one a month?) affect my health negatively in the long run? --- Thank you for your answers. I expect some lectures on alcoholism, however please keep in mind that I no longer drink very often, nor do I drink in huge quantities. And, I haven't had any trouble as the direct result of alcohol since the aforementioned DWI (~2 years ago).
Avatar f tn At best TSH is an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also the levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4. Free T3 is the most important test because scientific studies have shown that FT3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while TSH and free T4 did not correlate very well at all. Please have a look at this link and tell us if you have any of the symptoms listed for hypothyroidism. http://www.endocrineweb.
Avatar m tn You have already surpassed the required window period for testing, all you need to do is just go and get tested, I promise - It would be sheer relief. I and many posters have been there, we can tell you getting to know your result is like a major monkey off your back. Symptoms don't mean any thing, they never had and never will be. We have seen some crazy amount of posters complaining about every symptom.

1807280 tn?1318607576 I got on the methadone to get off the heroin. Well 10 yrs later, I'm off the heroin and strung out like a dog on 180mgs of meth. So I've decided to detox. I'm going down 5mg a month. When I got to 25mg, I got so sick that I couldn't do anything and they brought me back up to 40mg. So here I sit on 40mg, paying the clinic 200.00 a month and I can't get off the last 40mg.
387294 tn?1207620185 She has a healthy heart and it is working well. With this impact her chances to get health insurance on her own? Will it impact our ability to continue her insurance after the cobra period is over on our insurance?
Avatar m tn aspx  Figure your heart rate by this formula  The Karvonen Formula is a mathematical formula that helps you determine your target heart rate zone. The formula involves using your maximum heart rate (MHR) minus your age to come up with a target heart rate range (which is a percentage of your MHR). Staying within this range will help you work most effectively during your cardio workouts.
612876 tn?1355514495 t actually mean to be posting here (and thus generally have no specific questions for us when it comes to dysauto-related stuff). Feel free to respond generally if you have knowledge/expertise on the heart rhythm or heart disease questions they have, but hopefully we can try to refrain from jumping the gun and suggesting dysautonomia-specific advice (or referring them to our health pages, etc., which would also likely be inappropriate for their situations).
Avatar f tn Sometimes I feel my heart palpitating, and an abnormal heart rhythm... I'm not 100% sure if it technically flutters, or beats irregularly, I kind of feel both sensations at once. Mild chest pain is sometimes present and I will usually feel my heartbeat in my arms, neck, or somewhere else. Tonight I felt it in the right part of my chest which I'm not familiar with feeling. Often when I do get these symptoms they tend to last for awhile, and/or come back later.
Avatar f tn Most States/Counties have a public Health Dept from which you can get medical care, either for free or income based. Your body is dependent on those thyroid hormones; you must get back on them.
Avatar f tn I am not sure where you live, but i can tell you that some states do have medical facilities especially in arkansas that are based on your income and some charity hospitals and clinics do the same. Call your local health unit they should have an advocate there that caould tell you the best route to go.
Avatar f tn s would look forward to how a heart doctor would respond to the two questions asked daily by those with heart issues. I miss on this board suggestions from health professionals, and welcome their ideas. I began heart problems in the late 1990's, and do believe that monitoring this site, two questions as day, resulted in the fact that I'm still standing. As Jon suggests, we should welcome, not discourage, advice from health professionals.
Avatar f tn ive hadvit goin on since yesterday. ps i normally have hbp i have mvp too leaky heart valves one pulminac valve leak and just diagnosed with venous insufficiency.

Avatar m tn I constantly worry about my health... cancer and HIV mostly. I have had every test from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet and everything is good. I have been tested for HIV about 6 times in a year. Everyday I think I have a new exposure. I'm sick of living this way. My mind constantly searches for what could be wrong w/ me. I am healthy and young and don't have a family history of any diseases that I'm aware of. This totally consumes me and my life.

He didn't eat any salt for 2.5 months, but he did eat plenty of nuts and beans (nothing else).
974371 tn?1424653129 I have given countless hours of my heart and soul to posters never to hear from them again. it is frustrating but knowing that I 'maybe' helped is satisfaction in some small way. So, I let go of feeling like I need to hear back from them. But I do understand where you are coming from. I just hope that you keep 'bothering' regardless. Thanks for the help you provide!
Avatar f tn s rare so not very likely, but that one has a genetic test. One seems to start in the Lungs and affect the heart while the other starts in the heart.
