can I drink the juice of 1 grapefruit a day, if I am taking metoprolol and fosinopril for blood pressure? My blood pressure is completely controled.

i have been on monopril(fosinopril) for many years- and it also helps to protect the kidneys. since starting Tx my BP spiked, and they added Tiazac.

Anyone have any suggestions on when I should start to look up where and when Na is in my area and actually try to go to a meeting. I sure don't feel like I can right now but will take suggestions into consideration as I know it will be a must for me to stay clean. Did any of you find that NA works? I have tried counsiling but even with insurance I cant afford the cost of what I need to stay sober? I am still using. I had a 2 month break but when i went back to the real world I relaped. MY mother did NA and OA and every kind of A possible but she is just an addiction transfer type person. At this point I am willing to try it. My experience with alnon as a kid was horrible.

WOOHOO!!! I did it guys I finally found an NA group that I like and everybody there is very nice. Its about a 20 minute drive away so not too bad and so worth it! I actually found a lady there with a similar story to mine and she has been clean for 10 years now. I am exctied I was really getting nervous that NA just wasnt for me but this is in a nice area in the next town over.

Has NA been helpful for you in your recovery? I'm considering going to my first meeting tomorrow, I'm just not sure if a 12 step program is right for me.

Do any of you go to NA meetings? Do you also have FT time jobs, FT kid responsibilites, FT house duties and so on? How do you find time to go? Is it necessary to go to NA?

The questions and responses that everyone has are quite helpful to me for the most part. However, I would like to start going to NA meetings. My ex boyfriend (who I started using with) has been going to them for awhile and they really seem to have been doing him good (from what I saw before we broke up). Right before we broke up I had mentioned that I would like to start going as well and he expressed to me the he did NOT want me to go.

s office. .... Now I take Fosinopril 40 and Verapamil 80 twice a day which is working perfectly.. The last docter wanted to try me on HCTZ once more telling me to drink alot of orange juice. After a month of taking it he realized I dont need them. My pressure goes up with anxiety of docters. So he took me off about a week and a half ago. Near the end of being on them I started feeling like I have a urinary infection. It hasnt stopped ...my lower back and sides are hurting also.

Hi there ~ congratulations on taking this next right step in your recovery! I totally get the anxiety related to going into an "unknown" space... it's a challenge. I commend you for pressing onward! My DOC is different, but really... when all boiled down... addiction is addiction. If we're using any substance to change the way we feel, we have a problem... yeah? Both AA and NA can be beneficial...

Ive looked in the pho ne book and online and not really having much luck finding any NA meetings in my area. does anyone have a website or any resource that has a listing ? That would be awesome and sooooo appreciate thank you!

For any of you that go to NA could you recommend which books to me helped you the most....I was going to order them online. I am not able to do meetings with my toddler. But I am a reader and would like to read as much as I can to educate myself more. I was looking at Basic Text & Just for Today for sure....

I am from the deep south and i tried 10 or more mixed meetings with NA..then i tried the ladies group of NA/better as i did not feel like i was on display.....it was a bit hard to say anything as there were a "group" who ran the meeting and everyone else just sat there..in the mixed group i felt like i was being sized up for sex..sorry but that is how i felt..many fresh out of prison and mostly IV drug abuse....out of my scope being a pill popper... .

I am considering going to my first meeting but scared to death. Have no idea what to expect. I am somewhat quite, like to observe and take in not really talk in front of people.

I went online and found an na meeting every night of the week within minutes of my house at various locations. I printed out the directions and wrote the topic and time, I will start going this week. I am in no way ashamed of this so it should'nt be so bad. I'm not a junkie, when i was w/d big time my friend at the time had a needle with an oxy or heroin I dont remember , in it and I said i'd rather die.

On day 3 (eeewwww)! These days are going so slow..... I thought it would be a little easier since it was only 9 mos vs 4 years this time. I was wrong.
