fosamax

Avatar n tn I took Fosamax for only 7 weeks but am having prolonged diarrhea and esophagus problems. Gas build up is hard to release. Burps are few and far between causing a build up of pressure in the esophagus. I, too, am looking for help and guidance. My doctor has sent me to a GI specialist, but the first appointment I could get is in July.
Avatar f tn I have IBS> I started to take fosamax once a week (for osteo). did so for 4 weeks. it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar n tn MY FRIEND HAD TO HAVE INVASION DENTAL WORK, BUT WHEN THE DENTIST DISCOVERED THAT SHE WAS ON FOSAMAX AND HAD BEEN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, HE INSISTED THAT SHE TAKE A HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED BLOOD TEST. Avatar f tn Does anyone know any adverse effect with Fosamax, a medication for treating osteoporois or brittle bones? My regular doc (who knows I have HCV) prescribed it to me. I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.

Surgeon said Fosamax caused this condition and pain.(fossy jaw) I also had to have a bone implant in my jaw.How do I get rid of this constant painful condition? Avatar f tn I stopped taking Fosamax before the extraction (I had taken it for less than 4 years) and am not going to take the drug again. Is there concern that I will have a complication because of the Fosamax? I had hoped for a bone graft and/or socket perservation...
Avatar f tn Symptoms that are similar to heart problems are also found in those with reflux problems. Until you see the doc, you may want to consider following a GERD diet it will give you a head start if the doc decides to try you on a course of medication for possible acid problems.
Avatar f tn I believe there is a link between prolonged use of fosamax and oseonecrosis of the mandible. Who might I contact for positive confirmation?
Avatar n tn The two being eye teeth (upper left and right). So far, as of this date, I have not had a reply. I would like to know if the Fosamax has any bearing on why my teeth are getting loose.
Avatar f tn d have an esophageal spasm and food would get stuck in my esophagus and the esophagus would spasm around it. NOT fun. Ever since Ive been on the Levothyroxine my swallowing issues have subsided. GERD can irritate your esophagus, so that would be the place to start, but if they can't attribute it to the GERD, I'd check the thyroid next.
Avatar n tn I am a "heart patient" and have been taking Fosamax to improve bone density. Lately I have seen several things that implied I might not should be taking Fosamax. I would enjoy hearing some opinions on this matter. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been on Fosamax for almost a year . In the last few months I have developed really bad heartburn. Zantac helps for a few hours but then it starts again.
Avatar f tn I was dx with osteopenia a month before I started treatment for C and began taking fosamax weekly - the low dose 35 mg per week. Before tx for C my hip T score was -1.7. After treatment my T score was -1.3, so it did improve. The lumbar spine T score imporved during that time too. I continued to take the fosamax thoughout my tx and did not clear the virus, so would surmise the improvement was from the fosamax and not anything else.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I don't know if I should tell you what it could be, because I'm not a doctor, and don't want to scare you and because I think you probably know if you have been seeing your doctor. Unless she didn't tell you what bulimia could do to you? I also have bulimia but hate hate HATE the fact that I have it and really regret bring such a horrible disease into my life, because it has caused SO many problems for myself and my family. I'll tell you a few of them.
Avatar f tn DEXA scan showed increased bone density loss to that of a DEXA scan done before bc (ordered by gastro due to 30+ yrs of steroids). BC surgeon prescribed Fosamax and Calcichew/Vit.D3. A bone scan showed osteo arthritis in both hips, hands and feet. No meds prescribed. I am on weekly injections of 12.5 mg methotrexate for Crohn's. My GP suggested I stop the Arimidex for 3-4 weeks to see if the pain diminished, which miraculously it has.
Avatar f tn OK...got past the leg cramos and muscle twitching...now I am having swallowing problems. SO bad that I failed a Gastric Emptying Test and go to see the Doc about that tomorrow. COuld anxiety actually cause the muscles in the esophagus to spasm or quit moving normally?
