Avatar n tn The hot water pressure in the shower has been quite low. Prior to the filter installation, the plumber removed a water restrictor from the shower valve with an aim to improve the water pressure. This has only resulted in having more water coming out per minute but has not improved the water pressure. The condition I experienced seems some kind of allergic reaction. I am wondering if there is a chance a hot water filter could cause an allergic reaction or it's just a coincidence.
2052165 tn?1331146225 My daughter is suffering from Tetrorogy of Fallot with absent Pulmonary valve Syndrome, her age is two and half years. I visited the Pediatric cardiologist and thoracic surgeons here in Pakistan. But they have no satisfactory solution regarding absent pulmonary valve syndrome, where as in tetrology of Fallot can be very well manage here. Current status is that my daughter two times suffer from severe pneumonia, sometimes I observed sweating on her forehead, growth is not up to the mark.
645800 tn?1466860955 Well I just got home from my PCP appt. It went pretty good in some ways, but bad in others. My BP is still too hig (meds were just doubled 2 weeks ago). Initially he was just going to increase my dosage of the meds I currently take but then noticed my pulse rate is getting way too low (47 BPM). So I now have yet another BP med to take. This one should not lower my heart rate any further. I also taked to him about my left shoulder pain.
329165 tn?1515471990 Hi Smiley, there has been excellent reports regarding the Ross procedures. The aortic valve is by-passed and the aortic valve replaces the mitral valve. The advantage over a mechanical replacement is no need for the life long use of medication. And bio valves have a limited life span (approx. 10 years). At your young age, that may not be a good option and the Ross procedure requires special operational skills that may not be available. The mechanical may be the only other option.
Avatar n tn valve surgery is very straightforward these days. They use either mechanical or organic replacement valves, usually made from pig tissue. Surgeons spend time to ensure the valve is nice and symetrical to cause a good seal. If cardiologists feel he has a problem with a leaky valve, then a replacement will make a big difference.
Avatar f tn I work at a hospital and have had a child, the hospital I work at in California you do not have to have it installed, you bring it in and carry baby out in it, I am not sure if they check installation, they didn't with me. You should go to a police station or fire dept and make sure you have it installed correctly bc most people are doing it wrong and have no idea..
Avatar f tn I'm afraid so because if it hasn't closed then it needs to be done manually. At least they are doing it using angioplasty and not open heart. I realise this is a very worrying time, but once done you will be very relieved. After the procedure she will be getting full oxygen to the body tissues.
Avatar f tn Do what your cardiologist says! He/She will tell you when you need surgery. I just went through the surgery for the same thing in Sept. The doctors know what they are looking for and the longer you can go without the surgery the better for you. Just listen to your doctors. I was able to make it to age 46, they actually thought I might make it until 50. Didn't have a choice to wait or not.

Avatar f tn Hi, i would like to know the treatments for the Heart valve leakage. my father is diabetic and High blood pressure patient. he got heart attack in 2006. doctor's advised for bye-pass surgery but at that time we can't afford that. know my father heart circulation is low as required by body, he got swelling in his leg as well. doctor told that he can't operate my father at the moment coz after eco the doctor said there is valve leakage in his heart . so he cannot operate know.
Avatar m tn I cannot comment on the orthopedic issues, but about the aortic valve replacement there are some percutaneous approaches to replace the aortic valve. First one needs to ***** his surgical risk. I would suggest the opinion of a high volume center such as ours in doing this, a place where high risk patients are usually operated on with few complications. If at such a place he is deemed to be a very high surgical risk then one can start thinking about percutaneous aortic valve replacement.
Avatar f tn The mitral valve is the valve between the left atrium and the left ventricle. When it closes it prevents the blood from flowing back from the ventricle to the atrium when the ventricle starts to contract. Prolapse means that the vlave bulges a little into the atrium. This is normally not a reason for much concern. PA Pressures: These are the blood pressures measured in the pulmonary (lung) arteries. They seem to be just fine.
Avatar f tn I have moderate to severe mitral valve for more than 7 years and no symptoms or progression...there isn't any specific treatment other than control blood pressure and my MVR has not progressed, Surgery is considered when ejection fraction drops below 60% and/or your left ventricle is larger than 40 mm at rest my be the guide, but if the size of the ventricle enlarges that may be too late to get a good outcome from intervention...thus the dilemma.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. This is the type of question best answered by the physicians that he has seen. They've examined him and will be able to best guide you for what is the best course of treatment. To go over what you are talking about though, here is information on Mitral Valve Regurgitation https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/mitral-valve-regurgitation/symptoms-causes/syc-20350178 which basically means the mitral valve doesn't close tightly.
Avatar f tn If your doctor has suggested surgery, there are two main options, repair or replacement of the mitral valve. Both valve repair and replacement require open heart surgery. Both procedures require significant recovery time. As you are having acute symptoms of breathlessness, I suggest you consult your doctor earlier or go to the ER, they will guide you appropriately, as you may need surgery earlier than planned. Regards.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Mitral Stenosis since year 2000.Could you please advise/guide me?I have one child. She was born in 2003.My MVA was approx 1.8 cm2 in 2003. After 1 year, my Cardiologist in India advised me to undergo Balloon Valvuloplasty before 2nd child. We have been postponing this and now we are in the UK for the past 4 years. We are now planning to have our second child. I had a echo done in Feb 2008. The MVA reading shows 1.2 cm2 now.
Avatar n tn Let me ask a question, "How safe is it getting a radio active device put in?" Does it mean the installation or environmental risks? "How safe is it getting a pace-maker put" asked by the original poster. Does that mean installation safety or environmental safety? One responder commented on the installation safety and another poster commented on environmental risks.

What is normal for a person of this size? left foot and ankle stayed grossly swollen. MRI stated that COPD is "suspected". Any thoughts on this?

Avatar m tn I am wondering if basic training would exacerbate my abdominal condition gastrosgesis, malrotation, adhesions...or exacerbate my ileocecal valve and sac. Went into the navy basic training with a bowel obstruction. A nightmare of pain. Surgeon remarked my ileocecal complex looked mutilated?
Avatar n tn Yes, You will be absolutely normal. But, before that I will advice you to read one book. It will help you to know more on it. "The Patient's Guide to Heart Valve Surgery by - Adam Pick.
144586 tn?1284666164 I shut the valve off, run to the second floor (nearby stairway) remove the fifty-foot length of hose on that valve (there is a spanner there), bring it down and add another fifty foot. The fire department has still not arrived. When I have a hundred foot of line tightened I turn the water on again. The Mexicans have disappeared. More people in the lobby fleeing! I blast another hundred of them, men, women and children. "You moron!" one of them screams. "Idiot!
Avatar f tn I had an aortic valve replacement on April 14th. About a month afterward I developed severe edema in my right foot and now it's in both feet and lower legs. What could be causing this, and how can it be remedied? I've been taking diuretics daily for over a month with no visible improvement. Neither my cardiologist nor internist has an explanation. They have tested me and ruled out fluid in lungs and blood clots. Thank you.
