Common Questions and Answers about Foot stress injury

foot

Avatar n tn The only way to find out if there is a stress fracture anywhere in the foot, in the metatarsals or any of the cuneiform or cuboid bones is to have an xray. You are doing the right thing in applying cold compresses to the foot. Also rest the foot as much as you can and elevate it.
108334 tn?1253644395 There are a lot of little bones in the foot. I had a hair line fracture of the foot that healed on its own. Some are more serious. But they'd have been looking for that. Is he swollen? You'd think sprain too but you'd notice swelling. I'd say he just hurt it and it isn't back to normal yet. Give it another day and if you are seeing no improvement, then call the doc. Also, side note. These are those teachable moments.
1285110 tn?1420147378 5 days after the injury I went to the minor injury clinc and they xrayed my foot which looked strange as my ankle bone was engulfed in the swelling..... the x ray showed no sign of fracture so I was sent away and told to continue with iceing, and resting and to take pain killers.
Avatar n tn what's real weird about this is... at times there is no sweat at all. and it isnt really visible either. It does seem to depend on the position of my foot. It's really weird. However I have been under extreme stress the last few months so an emotional thing could be possible. If this is the cause it should go away on it's own when stress alleviates?
Avatar n tn I am sorry your in pain. Can you be a little more specific. Have you injured your foot recently or had an old injury that may be related to the pain your experiencing?
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. We're sorry you are having this pain. Did you hurt your foot any time recently? There is visible swelling along with pain, correct? Right now, a lot of doctors are practicing telemedicine and this would be wise for you to touch base with your doctor. This is a common place of stress fracture in the foot. If you haven't had a traumatic injury, do you notice in relationship to your shoes? Our footwear can greatly impact our foot health.
Avatar f tn Since the initial injury I have found myself walking on the outside of my foot because that was the only comfortable position. If i try and put my foot flat on the ground a bear full weight i get a pinching feeling around my ankle bone. I was seeing a chiropractor for my back a few months ago and he asked me what happened. He tried to do an adjustment on my foot/ankle but was unsuccessful due to the swelling i guess.. He stated that it was not resetting/stabilizing.
Avatar n tn I did not experience any type of injury, and though I regularly run, it doesnt seem like a stress injury because I hadnt run on it for 3 weeks when it happened. I was always able to put weight on it, although I had to walk on the inside of my foot for a few weeks because the little toes up through my outer ankle were tender. Now, a month later it still hurts when I wake up and it is painful to bend my foot inward. Any help I can get to understand this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I underwent open surgery to repair a completely ruptured achilles tendon 17 days ago. After surgery my foot was immobilized in plantar flexion (shank/foot = approx.135 degres). Is it a tenet also in USA that the leg should stay in this position for at least 3-4 weeks?
Avatar m tn thanks for the advice. I'm going to make an appointment to see a doctor soon. My Achilles is still stiff as ever. not much pain or swelling. Just really stiff . I cant get my foot beyond 90 degree angle to the leg. So when I walk, I cant push off the toes for that extra stretch because the tendon/lower calf area is too tight and I fear tearing it if it's not already and rupture if it is torn?????.
Avatar n tn I would think by now you could see a doc..it could be a stress fracture, a chipped bone or something along thoughs lines where you can still walk but its still swelling which means the (white blood cells) fluid feels it needs to be in the sight to help heal the injury & the body senses emergency. Bc our foot it pretty much all bone so unless you already have bone problems it may be worth getting checked.
Avatar f tn Have they checked for stress fractures in the foot? My mother had them for months before she was diagnosed. I kept telling her to get second and third opinions and to have another MRI that finally showed them. Ask the podiatrist if the Radiologist saw any stress fractures? Or better yet get the report yourself so you know what it says. You can always come to this site and ask what it means. There are several nurses on this site that could help you with that.
1757391 tn?1346127363 I have really bad pain in my left ankle on the outside bone and my whole foot is swollen. it is tingly and hurts when I walk and hurts when pressing on the outside bone. I can walk on it but it hurts really bad!!
Avatar f tn An MRI showed that I incurred a stress fracture in my ankle as a result of severe osteopenia, almost 4 months ago. Treatment consisted of a period of rest for 2 weeks, then wearing a boot for a month. I was then put on complete rest of the injured foot-no weight-bearing at all for over 2 months, as x-rays showed it was healing quite slowly.
Avatar f tn I was sprayed by a pressure washer a week ago on my foot. Sking healing fine, but foot staying swollen. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn My cat got his left hind foot (paw) caught in piano lid (piano keys cover). He was dangling with his foot caught in it and screaming in pain. We opened the lid and he got out. His hind leg instantly swelled and there is a sore on it from where it was pinched. He seems to be walking on it, but you can tell he's not putting a lot of pressure on it. He's jumping up, but again, you can see that he favours the other foot. It's still quite swollen.
Avatar m tn I had a stress fracture across the top of my foot , no injury just couldn't walk , about 2 years ago. It was my right foot BTW LOL. The x-ray didn't show anything until about 3 weeks later when it started to calcify.
Avatar f tn "Stress fractures" are an injury to the bone caused by repetitive strain on the weight bearing bones. They are common in the tibia, tarsals, and metatarsals of the feet. They are one of the most common athletic injuries. They are not related to MS, but could be related to D3, calcium, and/or phosphorus metabolism issues.
Avatar f tn Actually, ANY injury to the body can affect fibro. Because fibro is an autoimmune disorder, even stress can affect you more negatively than it can a person who doesn't have fibro and can cause a flare up. The fact that you have sustained an injury has caused stress for you, the pain you felt from the injury caused you stress. These two things together can most definitely cause your fibro to hurt more than it normally would.
Avatar f tn Now his left foot seems to be showing the extra stress. He has pain on and off in that foot/ankle and the little toe seems to be turning outward. He has to go for a functional capacity test next week (work injury-workers comp). Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn my wife who is 38 years, suffered from a Foot injury & pain,MRI report has concluded QUOTE Undisplaced fracture of the cuboid bone with oedema of the adjacent soft tissues UNQUOTE May kindly advise on the issue and what are treatments for above.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with severe crush injury with multiple fractures to my left foot and crush injury and fractured ankle on the right. I have drove my self crazy trying to second guess my Dr because he says that there isnt anything he can do about the left foot and thr right foot he put a screw in the ankle but other than that there is nothing that can be done. I also have the pain that you speak of and the swelling at night.
