Avatar n tn Immediately upon awakening from a three-level lumbar spinal fusion, I knew my right foot was completely numb. The surgery was to correct left leg pain. My right foot and calf feels like its being squeezed so tight it becomes painful. Also, I began to suffer with erectile dysfunction. My right foot burns like fire on the lateral side and my foot seems ot hurt more when I am sitting and /or resting. Could this be P.A.D.? and how can I get professional diagnosis?
Avatar m tn This can happen when I have been walking but can also happen upon awakening. The pain is usually temporarily relieved by warming them (either gentle massage or placing them under a cover). My hands ache especially when I have to drive (holding the wheel) or hold the telephone. I have been put on neurontin for this with minimal improvement.
Avatar n tn when i was 17 i had an episode that caused the loss of use in my legs upon awakening from sleep , the episode lasted but for a brief 10 mins , fast forward to the age of 28 and my body started going thru involuntary muscle movements and body jerks ... this went on for a few more years .
Avatar n tn because it seems to be sore during up time but upon awakening in the a.m. seems to need to be stretched gently as I walk. Any suggestions / advice is most appreciated for now I am getting frustrated and am unsure how long it might take for it to hea.
Avatar f tn I need to know quite honestly just how bad bunion surgery is--to use the layman's term. I have heard of no actual "success" stories. Almost everyone says the recovery is longer than the doctors ever tell. Mine is apparently not an easy one--I'm OK with the sawing off of the bump, more nervous about the breaking and straightening of the toe and really jittery about the "pin" they place in it.
Avatar n tn When it occurs upon falling asleep, the person remains aware while the body shuts down for REM sleep, and it is called hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis. When it occurs upon awakening, the person becomes aware before the REM cycle is complete, and it is called hypnopompic or postdormital. The paralysis can last from several seconds to several minutes, with some rare cases being hours, "by which the individual may experience panic symptoms" (described below).
Avatar m tn I'm noy a doctor or anything, but my high school boyfriend lost his ability to have an erection and the doctor told him that one out of every ten males that smoke pot have problems getting it up. I don't know how sound the truth is, but that was my experience.
Avatar n tn The flushing continues everyday and is often accompanied by a tingling sensation in my tongue and frequent headaches upon awakening. My blood pressure is normal, and I exercise everyday. I have historically had a low white blood count (3.4) for many years without incidents. My primary care physician doesn't have an idea what these symptoms mean. I am not sure how to proceed... see an allergist or a rheumotologist? Thank you for any advice.
Avatar n tn She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery. How long can she expect this pain to stay? Thank you.
Avatar m tn If you are getting adequate and good quality sleep and do not have sleep apnea or on suspect meds, seems hypnopompic hallucinations could be an explanation since you describe them as upon awakening. I have a friend who has this happen due to a med she must take. She keeps a flashlight nearby and when she wakes up and sees it, she shines the flashlight on it an the image disappears.
1302779 tn?1287405029 Early Morning Awakening Headache Cluster, migraine and tension-type headaches may produce a headache that awakens an individual in the early morning hours (usually after 4 AM), or is present upon awakening. Those individuals with chronic tension-type headache are most likely to be awakened in the early morning hours due to headache. Avatar f tn I experienced extreme anxiety upon waking after my appendectomy a week ago. I am experiencing increased anxiety upon waking from sleep now at home. Can the two be related. I am trying to control the anxiety I am now having. Its pretty overwhelming & very alarming. Will this continue to get worse or will it diminish quickly? Or is there any way to know since everyone is different.
Avatar m tn My first question to you is whether you have erections upon awakening. If so, that would indicate that your penis is working just fine, it's your head that's getting in the way. On the other hand, if you're not having erections upon awakening or at other times when not with your partner (during self-pleasuring, for instance), then it's most likely there's a physiological cause. And so-called "enhancers" are a waste of time and money.

2075786 tn?1342908758 My heel has a constant aching in it that causes pain to radiate into my ankles, calf, and knee. It is awful!
Avatar m tn I was told to take a break from intense workouts and that I should treat the pain with NSAID pain relievers. I haven't been working out lately and the pain is still present. I have also been unable to ejaculate which has me worried because I'm 18 and should be able to by now. I'm nervous that the testicular pain and my inability to ejaculate could be related and possibly a more serious problem.
Avatar n tn Most of your concerns are probably due to feeling anxiety about the first time being sexual with a partner. A good way to rule out any physical cause is whether you have erections upon awakening. If so, there's probably no medical problem. If, however, you DON'T have erections upon awakening, or when thinking about sex, etc., you may want to see a urologist for an exam.
Avatar m tn Hi! I was last sexually active 25 days ago, and it was protected. Since then I have been having a lot of stress in my life but here's the point: About Two days ago I started feeling a slight pain/discomfort in my left testical when I touch it, it feels like it's BEHIND my testical or more at the bottom. But it was nothing major and didn't bother me.
Avatar n tn Left ovary was removed with tumors, cysts, and adhesions (very painful) and the relief was immediate, even through the post op pain upon awakening I could tell the pain was gone. The back pain radiating down my buttocks to my leg remained. To the extent I could not walk, the leg would give out. It could be more than 1 thing. Or something systemic like Chron's. Best of luck to you!
Avatar n tn When I get up from a chair, my stationary bike, the car, you would think you were looking at an elderly person. I can barely move from the pain--stabbing pain in both feet, pain in most joints (though my knees are ok) in my legs, and now, severe pain in my left hip. It eventually goes away as long as I keep moving. I don't smoke or anything like that. I've mentioned this to my GP and she just says this can be typical for my age.
