Avatar f tn Due to the tarsal repair you have lost lot of mass like muscle and soft tissue so the normal anatomy has been changed and for this you have to wear proper shoes. Try not to wear footwear which causes pain and with physiotherapy and exercise you will gain strength and fight the pain . Take care!
Avatar n tn My back was sensitive right at my spine and has gone down to my foot and now the sensitivity it gone but my back and especially my foot are still in a lot of pain. Avatar n tn The doctor said it is permananent nerve damage. I still have numbness/burning pain in both legs and severe back pain. My Pain management doctor wants me to do a permanent SCS for the pain. Should I seek a second opinion from another neurosurgeon? My neurosurgeon has said he does not see anything on MRI and has has no answers. Also, will my drop foot eventually get worse? Does the muscles associated with the nerve damage deteriorate? Thank you again, have a nice day!!
Avatar n tn When did the sneeze occur? I have a similar issue. If you've had the nerve damage for 20 years, whatever nerve damage exists is probably permanent. I've been told that nerves heal at a rate of about 1/2 inch per month, so for the sciatic nerve, you are looking at up to 2 years for recovery. After that, what you have is what you have. Now, that assumes that your problem is entirely resulting from the nerve damage. I don't know what type of strengthening you've tried.
Avatar f tn Moderate denervation of rectus femoris and vastus lateralis due to femoral nerve damage, with nerve block being the cause. Treatment includes increasing mobility with supportive therapy. The neurologist/ pain physician could try corticosteroid injection in the area to reduce any inflammation related swelling and improvement in nerve function. Pain medicines for the pain and physical therapy to maintain the muscle strength.

Avatar f tn I have had a pain in my right foot that has lasted 4 months after acupuncture. I thought it would be better by now but no improvement. I can walk and run on my foot but pain is caused when I touch it or something rubs up against it. The pain is a sharp burning sensation. Has anyone ever experienced this? Will it ever get better?
Avatar f tn I had a nerve conduction study done and was told that I had muscle and nerve damage starting at L5 S1. I have numbness in my right foot starting at my toes and going up my leg and on the bottom of my foot. I did not feel the needles that they put in my back, calf, or foot. The neurologist said that he had only been asked to do the study and could not tell me anything more. I would need to go back to my primary care doctor.
Avatar f tn nerve conduction was fine in lower legs/shin but i had reduced conduction (no bell curve at all) in upper legs/thigh. what does this mean? do i have nerve damage? and from what? what does this mean? could i have reduced conduction if my sciatic nerve is irritated? doctor also did the voodoo test. i heard static in my lower legs when i applied my muscles. i didn't hear any static in my upper legs. thanks.

Avatar n tn Neuropathy of the lower extremities is more often a result of some compromise of the large nerve in the lumbar spine (sciatic nerve). The fact that you had complete loss of feeling right after your accident could be related to the traumatic impact and some contusion or bruising of the area, Considering that the numbness has continued for such a long time, it may be appropriate to obtain a neurological consult to determine if any compromise of the nerves exists.
Avatar n tn I get a sharp, shooting pain in my left foot. There is no discoloration or any injury, it started suddenly and has been like that since 2 days. It is upper part of foot and is not continuous. I am not injured in any way .
Avatar f tn As a result of this, my left leg nerve was damaged and numb from hip, down through my thigh to my foot and heel. There is pain down the left leg and half of the foot. I have feeling in all my toes except my little toe. There is pain in my left ankle. Is this permanent? My Doctor just ignores this saying it will last at least a year, but then the nerves will heal themselves.
Avatar m tn Almost all long term diabetic , type one or type 2, will suffer leg pains aka as nerve pains. To prevent further nerve damage or pains, one must maintain blood sugar less than 140 at ALL TIMES and the hgA1C must be less than 5.6%, I was there, Now I don't have such pains no more.
Avatar f tn Hello all- After many, many acupuncture treatments, last week I had a treatment for knee arthritis in which I felt excruciating pain with a needle insertion below my knee and my foot kicked up simultaneously. Four days later, I have increasing burning and electricity pains radiating down the front of my shin along the tops of my feet. It also feels as though someone were cutting into my ankle or a very, very bad ankle sprain.
Avatar m tn I am having all sorts of pain in my foot and leg and can't seem to get a diagnosis. So far, I've seen two podiatrists, neurologst, PCP, and will see an orthopedic surgeon in about a month. Last year I rolled over my big toe with a pallet jack that had a pallet on it at an old job. Well at the time it didn't break my foot or cause any bruising or any type of problem that required medical attention so I let it go.
Avatar n tn The ongoing pain in the leg could indicate that there is progressive damage to the nerves. NCS, nerve conduction studies may show the effects on the nerve. The compression on the nerves needs to be relieved. Therapy for spinal disorders can be conservative (non operative) and surgical (operative) management. Non operative therapies are ultrasound application, spinal traction, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation and spinal injections.

Avatar m tn After one particular session where a needles were put into my leg down to my foot, I expereineced increasing pain from my glut down to my foot. I have went to physical therapy for the last 2-3 weeks, but no improvement and had to pull out of the marathon after completing all my long runs (totally bummed). Avatar f tn Hello aud: Welcome to the Pain Forum. I am sorry that your friend has had problems. Unfortunately, Back Surgery can often lead to nerve damage, especially in the feet. The more common nerve damage is called " Drop Foot". This is nerve damage from back surgery resulting in no feeling in the foot. This can happen in toes with a numbing sensation all the way to no feeling in the foot. Your friend sounds like they most likely do have some nerve damage.
