Common Questions and Answers about Foot pain icd

Avatar f tn However, I recently experienced some awkwardness or slight pain in the left breast, mainly around the ICD - towards the armpit and towards the center of the breast. I have scheduled all sorts of check ups - regarding the ICD and my gyneocologist, but until then I would greatly appreciate some input if this pain may be normal, due to the ICD and not something breast related. Also, how do the ICD and arrhythmia medications affect pregnancy?

Avatar m tn Hi, I had my ICD implanted in January also and I have not had real pain in the area of the ICD since about 4-5 weeks post implant. I would call your doctor as soon as you can to see what it going on. Is there any redness or oozing from the incision? If there is, you need to get this looked at right away. There should be no numbness except maybe directly on the incision. You should also have been able to use your hand since immediately after the implant. Best bet is to get this checked out soon.
Avatar f tn I had an ICD put in 1 1/2 years ago, I'm still experiencing pain and tenderness in my chest and simple task such as folding clothes causes a lot of strain and pressure on my left arm. I was told at the device check clinic that this is normal. I was wondering if anyone else with an ICD has these issues?
Avatar n tn Tonight I had a sudden pain between my shoulderblades and then the lightheadedness. The pain passed but I am still somewhat lightheaded. I do have atrial fib. dxed by 30 day monitor a year ago. I take sotalol 120mg 2 x a day. Could the lightheaded episodes be related to arrythmia? And should I be concerned about them since I have the ICD? It seems since I got the ICD the doctors just blow me off when I mention any palpitations.
Avatar m tn or did the attempt the ablation accidently hit the node and you ended up with an ICD...or did they implant an ICD did an ablation and now you are on meds? Lots of questions i know but i don't get this. Most of all how long did this all happen would be the big thing....you need to give us a little more info whpiv so that we can all weigh in to help you here so you aren't so frustrated and give you our take on it...
Avatar m tn 1. While and ICD implant is a procedure, it is not really surgery. And ICD is typically placed on one day and pt goes home the next. Usually no anesthesia is needed. Risk is very minimal. 2. If your ejection fraction is low, the ICD will serve as an "insurance policy"--ie hopefully you'll never need it but you'd be sure glad you had it if your heart "tried to die" on you 3.
Avatar f tn I never saw that kind of reaction in my Dad after his ICD fired off. And at one point his ICD was firing off a few times a week (he was slipping into end stage heart failure). I think he should go back in and be checked. Something is going on and it's more than a bit of depression over being shocked. You might ask them to check his other body parts like lungs, liver and intestines. They tend to focus on the heart and forget there are other parts than can become sick.
Avatar f tn hi My name is Poornima and I am 26 yrs old. Last year i went on with the ICD operation in my left side of lungs as doctors found that I was suffering from pneumothorax. I am not an asthmatic or a cold prone person since that ICD operation. Even doctors couldn't predict abt why I got that pneumothorax in this age that too for a female. But my father underwent the same ICD operation 2 years before. But doctors say that its not a genetic oriented disease.

Avatar f tn My husband just recently had an ICD put in 9 days ago.. He has a very weak heart and is a prime candidate for sudden death is what his cardiologist says. Well, 2 days ago he got shocked 8 times in a 2 min. period and when he went to the emergency room they said it was unjustifiable and he shouldn't have gotten shocked. My husband is scared to death now and wishes he had never gotten this done.
678312 tn?1310010574 I had an ICD implanted on the 25th of June. On Monday the 5th of July, I was using a dry microfibre cloth to wipe down a canvas camping chair and was touching the arm of the chair with my other hand and I got what felt like an electrical shock in my hand that was touching the chair - like touching an electric fence. I jumped back and my leg touched the leg of the chair and I got shocked there also. This felt like way more than static. Has anyone ever had this happen before?
Avatar n tn I was shocked 26 times by my ICD because of broker leads. The physical pain is horrific, but the emotional pain lasts longer. How do you regain trust in your device? This discussion is related to defibrillator malfunction.
Avatar f tn I am a 26 year old female and had an icd implant 12 weeks ago, I am still fiding the area where it is fitted rather tender and occasionally have pain. is this normal for others to experiance the tenderness? What was the recovery time and back to work time for others? I was as cabin crew and the heavy lifting and pulling of the doors is worrying me? What was the recovery time for the battery replacement?
967168 tn?1477584489 I have a Boston Scientific Teligen 100 PM/ICD I had placed in August 2009. I've had lead placement problems since then and in April 2010 they told me it appeared the leads were either fractured or leaking and may need to be replaced. They were both almost 1100 ohms back in April up from 780's - 800 . They asked if I had been having any mid upper stomach pains and at that point I didn't, but now I've been having sharp stabbing pains in the middle upper abdomen area.
Avatar n tn He was having v-tach quite often and he also ended up with an ICD. After about 5 years with the ICD his heart started to fail pretty badly. The docs even put him on hospice care. Part of the problem was my Dad's reluctance to switch his meds. He was comfortable with the meds he had and didn't want to bother with the side effects of new meds. After doing a face plant in the hospital parking lot one day, he agreed to switch to the Amiodarone.
545400 tn?1279740026 What is the surgery and recovery like? Can you feel the shocks/do they hurt?
Avatar n tn Obviously the best thing to do is ask hi doctor. After my ICD was implanted, my discharge instruction stated that I should not lift my left arm (my ICD is in my left chest wall just above the heart) for two weeks. They should have provided a patient handbook which outlines general guidelines for him. The only time I've been shocked was during another heart attack (I had 3 after the implantation) and caused no pain at all, just surprised the paramedics that were attending me.
444864 tn?1205155893 I was born with a congenital heart disease called tetralogy of fallot. 2 years ago I received an implantable cardio defibulator, as my heart had gone into V-tach. 2 wks ago my defibulator finally went off and saved my life, as my heart went into one of the worst rhythms called V-Fib..which is sometimes called "sudden death". I don't know anyone else who has an ICD...so just wondering if anyone out there would like to share their experiences with receiving shocks, coping, etc.
554422 tn?1220575366 I was surprised when I saw results from interrogation ( they electronically pull info stored on ICD ) to learn that the ICD is set to allow my heart to resume normal sinus on it's own, before kicking in. I had originally thought that the ICD would immediately kick in for V-tach. I believe that recent tests find that prolonged pacing and 'therapies' can cause a weakening of heart.
Avatar n tn my husband has an icd and brain damage was told he may last for 5 years if lucky is this true thank you
Avatar f tn I have a Medtronic (Secura) ICD too. I've had mine for about 8 months now and I remember feeling the pacing for the first couple of weeks. It was almost like a muscle twitch that I could feel around the ICD when I would relax. I'm paced most of the time and I don't feel a thing any more. You should call your ICD clinic at least to mention this to them. How have you been doing otherwise? Having an ICD is a big adjustment and there is emotional healing as well as physical.
967168 tn?1477584489 s and non sustained VT on my 24 hr holter; which found per my EPS I have polymorphic VT, and I had a PM/ICD implanted. I had a tilt table test that showed NCS, but I don't think I have it because my BP/hr did not fluctuate until they gave me nitro - then it tanked and I had no palpable pulse or BP. 8/28/2009 My Cardiac Catherization showed non-ischemic cardiomyopathy with an ejection fraction of 40%.
