Avatar f tn I have a pain in my heel that only happens if I bend over with my knees straight. I also feel it if I flex my foot up. It feels like somthing is being torn and that I am being stabbed with something sharp. It doesn't hurt if I bend my knee before I bend over.

454422 tn?1211415825 Hello all, I have had a painful heel spur on right foot for several months, tried heel cups, inserts, new shoes, napoxsyn, stretching and all have failed. I had several injections today and my heel was numb for several hours after, I am now having the most difficult time walking and the pain is more severe than it has been. I had this problem on left foot several years ago and ended up having fasciotomy (sp?) and have been pain free since. Any advice or suggestions on this newest heel spur.
Avatar n tn I have had posterior heel pain and edema for over 2 yrs. I finally decided to see podiatrist due to inability to walk without limping and pain that occurred with every step and it got to the point of shooting pain up my heel and leg even at rest. (I am unable to wear shoes that have a back without pain and it hurts to walk barefooted) I am also unable to stand on my tip toes on affected foot. I had an x-ray that showed a large posterior heel spur with bursitis.
Avatar n tn I am having a pain on the bottom outside edge of my foot. It feels like a bruise but has been there for a while. I am a runner and assume this is a training injury. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Many patients with plantar fasciitis have a heel spur on the front and bottom of their heel, but heel spurs do not cause pain. Top of the foot can cause pain if you have 1) inflammation of the foot as a whole or 2) tight fitting footwear and other that these causes the pain at the top of the foot and the plantar pain are not related. Take pain killers, apply ice packs and follow up with a foot specialist for a proper diagnosis if the pain does not decrease. Take care!
Avatar n tn I am 42 yr old fm and on Dec of 09 I had a heel spur removed for plantar facieities. Spelled wrong. sorry. But since surgery I have been in unberrable pain. After telling my dr. time and time again. I decided to get a second opinion. and a third. Had a cast put on for a month. and now just seeing how things will be since cast taken off on July 30 2010. Pain seemed to be better with cast but now pain is so bad. going back earlier than schedualed because I can't stand the pain.
Avatar m tn I am recently having some pain from a heel spur. I already wear a Dr. Scholls gel inset for the entire foot but I wanted to buy a heel insert that is designed for treating heels spurs. My main question is, do you recommend using a full shoe insert plus a heel insert or are they not designed to be used together? My secondary question is, are there are shoe inserts or heel inserts that treat heels spurs that are most recommended?
Avatar f tn I saw my ankle surgeon a couple of weeks ago and I had just found out that I have a bone spur on the top of my right foot (the same foot and ankle that I had surgery on in April 2008). He told me to do some ankle exercises to relieve some of the pain. He didn't do anything with the bone spur yet. I go see him again October 15. My question is: Will the ankle exercises help the bone spur disappear or will I need to get surgery to remove the bone spur?
Avatar f tn Xray and ultrasound showed plantar fasciitis, tendonitis and heel spur. I still suffer with tight band around foot. Burning sensation and pain in foot. This is 7 months after operation. Horrible. No-one has offered me an explanation or help to fix problem.
203342 tn?1328737207 Hello. I've had heel pain that's been getting gradually worse since last Summer. I finally was referred to a Podiatrist last month who said I had Calcaneal Bursitis. I asked for an X-Ray and just found out yesterday that I also have a heel spur. They want me to go back to the Podiatrist. Can you give me your opinion on what, if anything, can be done about this? I would hope it wouldn't ensure surgery because I don't want that.
Avatar f tn About a month and a half ago, I got up in the morning with a sharp pain in my right heel. Somedays it is tolerable and other days I am unable to stand and walk. I am 54 and in good health. I had a bone density test done several months ago and no signs of arthritis or osteoporous. Have had no injuries to the foot. What could be causing this pain?
Avatar f tn I have what I believe is a heel spur on the back of my right heel. There is a lump sticking out, not big. About 4-6 weeks ago, I started having Achilles pain & now I have a lump on my heel. The outside of the same heel, the outside of my ankle has has had some pain too. It's a little puffy, & the inside of my ankle is slightly swollen too. My heel & ankle hurt sometimes while going to sit down. Did I ruputre my Achilles tendon? How do I treat this, whatever it is issue?
Avatar n tn I have major swelling and pain (it's like a huge bruise) in right foot in the back of heel; very low and to the outside. Not near the Achilles Tendon. I am developing the same thing in the left foot (same location). Right "bruise" is so swollen the skin split and it weeps a clear fluid. Regular physician was stumped. Visited a podiatrist who had no idea what was wrong. Xrays taken, no heel spur, no foreign object, nothing. Have been surfing looking for an answer.
900662 tn?1469390305 oh boy is this post perfect timing! I often slam my right heel down when I walk and for weeks i'd been thinking i'd possibly picked up a little something in my heel, because braking glass and other breakables is turning into something i'm rather good at. lol Only trouble with it being a foreign object idea is that it doesn't look or act like one.
Avatar n tn My wife noticed the bone structure where my foot and ankle meet is larger than my left foot. Podiatrist feels ankle pain is attributed to compensation from the pain of the Plantar Fasciitis. I wear prescribed orthotics. The pain in the ankle area is horrendous when I'm working. With burning and sharp pain waves. I've tried forcibly walking with my foot straight, and my foot and leg feel as though I'm trying walk pigeon toed and the pain increases.
459853 tn?1283140514 When I flex my food you can see the ligament protruding from my foot. It runs from the ball of the foot all the way to my heel. I have found several exercises that seem to be helping but they are really painful! Just walking is painful.....
3026831 tn?1340069065 I woke up a couple months ago and i had ankle/foot pain in my left foot. My whole foot will get swolen, on my ankle it will get kind of greenish like a bruise.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help. Last night I inadvertently touched my right ankle joint and noticed a small, hard, bony lump near to it. It isn't tender when I touch it but it's making my foot feel fizzy and has created muscle spasms in other parts of my foot. I haven't injured the area, the foot hasn't swollen or become red and there is a slight dent in the skin between the lump and the ankle joint itself. Should I see a doctor about this?
Avatar n tn Can you get mortons neuroma twise in the same foot? the pain is on the top this time and not under the foot.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? The common causes after fixation could be non-union, achille’s tendonitis, heel spur and plantar fascitis. Another factor that contributes to the flattening of the arch of the foot is tightness of the calf muscles. The calf muscle attaches into the foot by the achilles tendon into the back of the heel. When the calf muscle is tight it limits the movement of the ankle joint.
Avatar n tn I have been reading people's concerns and suggestions for what I think is a similar problem I am having. It is becoming very frustrating at this point since my Dr.'s cannot seem to find the problem only what the "think" it could be. I have been having heel/foot pain for over 2 months now.
Avatar m tn Most likely the muscle in the bottom of your foot is inflamed. you could also have a Heel Spur pressing into a nerve. Change your shoes and wear good arch supported shoes to see if the discomfort improves. Also, add 10 Tablespoons of Epsom Salt to 2 quarts of real warm water and soak your foot twice per day for 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I have an intense pain on the ball of one foot. It also happened about 6 years ago and I went to a podiatrist who recommended an orthodic insert and I also did stretches for the achilles tendon. It helped. The pain is back and none of the two remedies are helping now. What should I do? It hurts all the time. I do quite a bit of walking at my job.
Avatar f tn Possible causes of the symptoms that may need to be considered include fractures, ligament/ tendon injuries, infections, inflammations like fasciitis etc, spur formation, heel fat pad syndrome, arch issues etc. It is advised to consult an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Meanwhile it is advised to rest the foot and avoid weight bearing. You could also use some OTC NSAIDS for pain relief. Hope this helps. Take care!
556637 tn?1249785348 I had pain throughout the day, and it was, by far, the worst case I have ever had. Needless to say, I was walking on the outside of my foot to avoid the pain. This only caused more issues. The outside of my foot began grinding/cracking when walking. Also, I have pain on the outside of my heel, between my calcaneus and the base of my 5th metatarsal. It's more towards the bottom of my foot, but right along that edge where my foot meets the floor. The pain does not go up into my ankle.
Avatar n tn Plantar fascitis usually causes this pain in the inside of the foot and heel. Some folks, and myself, have this pain on the outside of the heel, without tenderness or swelling. Sudden stabbing pain especially tipping foot inward with ankle out. I am more likely to think this has something to do with the achilles tendon. Still waiting for a podiatrist appointment.
