Common Questions and Answers about Foot injuries while running

foot

Avatar f tn I'm pretty sure it isn't broken but then I've never broken a bone before so I have no idea. I was in a shop and one of the clothing rails dropped a short distance (probably from my knee height) onto my foot. It really hurt and throbbed for a while. But it's still hurting almost 2 weeks later and the bruise only just seems to be coming out! Is that normal?
Avatar n tn My 13 yr. old daughter has started experiencing lower stomach pains while running during PE and basketball practice. She has been unable to complete the required mile and says the pain is quite intense. She ran track last spring and was able to run more than that without any problems. She also played competive summer basketball without any problems with the running. She is 5' 7'' and weighs about 125 lbs.
Avatar f tn I did some exams, stress test, 24h holter, echocardiogram, ECG (bradycardia), and they all checked normal, but I this week I started running again, I went for a 10k run 2 days ago, everything checked ok, while this morning I was running while my wife was ridding her bike, I had done like just 3k when suddenly there was the hit on the chest, the lack of air, and some dizziness, but mutch more weaker than the previous experience...

338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar m tn Exactly 2 weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle (rolled, stepped on someone's foot) during basketball. It was immediately iced and wrapped in an ankle brace. There was no bruising the next day and I could walk on it with a limp the day after that. I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball).
3851566 tn?1348338001 I stubbed my foot very hard running, and there is a lot of blue bruising on my toes and around my joints and on the top of my foot. After I stubbed it I got really hot for a few minutes and light headed. That made me think I probably broke something in my foot. It is very painful to try to walk on it, but other than that it doesn't bother me that much its not in constant pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a pain in my right foot. It is on the top of my foot and only last a few seconds then goes away. Seems to happen most when I am relaxed or laying down. I can't recall any injuries, there is no bruising and does not hurt to touch or press. It is quite painful while it's happening and has been going on for the last 3 days. Does anyone know what this might be or how I can stop it from happening?
Avatar f tn While running to 1st base last night, the short stop threw the ball to first where the softball hit me about 3-4 inches above my ankle bone...on the inside of my leg. The injured area swelled immediately. I stayed in the game and next hit I ran to 3rd base where the injured area had swollen about 4X as large as the initial impact. I hobbled out of game but was able to put weight on my foot and was able to move my ankle in all directions without direct pain.
15695260 tn?1549593113 (foot lands in front of the hip), and while I now take probably smaller strides, my foot lands directly beneath my hips, and seems to be working out well for me with fewer running injuries. (Sometimes I trip on sidewalks or fall while walking over a curb while running and twist my ankle, but that isn't necessarily a "running" injury).
Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
Avatar n tn I've get heart palpitations a lot, espicially after i exercise and I'm starting to get injured more frequently. I think i have a stress fracture on my left foot kind of under the big toe (ball of the foot) that hasn't gone away since last November.
2108469 tn?1334054530 ¿ Can running , or gym whatever , help to relief the symptoms of hypothyroidism ?
10520198 tn?1410756360 It healed within three months respectively, and the doctor had orthotics made for my feet. The orthotics worked great for walking, but instantly made my feet hurt while running. The problem continued to persist. **2 YEARS AGO** I deployed overseas with my hairline fracture injury 99% healed. For most of the deployment, I did not experience any major problems. Towards the end, the unit conducted organized physical training, which included long runs.
Avatar m tn I have been playing football for 3 years now and no serious injuries in the past two. A few days ago i started getting a pain on my left foot about 2-3 inches above the big toe. It hurts the most when I walk up stairs or walk in general. When playing football i dont feel any pain what so ever because my mind is focused on the game. I am a Defensive linemen and i am 6'5" 290 lbs if that helps. There is no bruising or swelling. Please help me!
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks so much for your question. The doctor you've seen is affiliated with the Army? How is this impacting your ability to serve? It does sound uncomfortable. I think a second opinion would be important to continue exploring what is happening. Your feet are newly flat? Different things can cause feet to go flat. Have you seen a podiatrist specifically? That's probably the best thing to do. There are different TYPES of flat feet as well.
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar f tn I am looking forward to continue with my running habit, but should I slow down or pause after some time while running? I mean I don't run that long. Or, are they some steps I should follow, does this happen only when you are beginner and does your body get over these injuries with time?
Avatar m tn i'm no expert, but i'll offer what i can. first of all, if this is not just discomfort and you're pain is severe enough to make you stop repeatedly, i think it's probably a good idea to discontinue running until you have a better understanding of what is causing the pain. did you say you were running on the beach? running on the sand could encourage awkward movements that may strain muscles or jar the skeletal system.....
155639 tn?1251738603 I took a few days off running and ran only one day the next week. I supplemented spinning classes for my cardio. I had a indepth sports massage on the area. I also went to my podiatrist who confirmed that it was an achilles issue but not a severe one. I have a lift in the shoe where I am having this problem. The one issue that I am really concerned about is the creaking feeling I will feel when moving my foot. This feeling has improved but is still there.
Avatar m tn Recently I noticed discomfort in my thighs while driving a car. Another day I was massaging my thighs and I noticed that it covered in bumps, right under the skin. These are semi-soft, jelly bean-like. Some long, some short. Mostly perpendicular to the leg (horizontally oriented). Both legs are affected and thighs and hamstrings are involved. And these muscles are completely covered in it, not just few lumps here or there.
Avatar f tn Hello, Thanks for that info. She hasn't had any dental treatment or as far as I know a pedicure, but it's interesting to hear you say that the infection appeared in your foot even though it was caused by your tooth. She's certainly had plenty of sports injuries in other parts of her body though so perhaps it could be caused by that. I hope that you get better soon.
Avatar n tn this morning whilst out running, a car ran over my feet knocking me to the ground. A paramedic and police came. I have a bump on my head which hurts to touch. My feet felt ok after, but I think I was a bit shocked. My left foot starting to become fuzzy later in the afternoon, like pins and needles and it's gone quite cold. Is this nerve damage? Or is it a normal reaction?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with debilitating foot pain for almost two years. First diagnose was Plantar Fasciitis and I was treated with injections and a walker boot and also PT. Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks!
Avatar f tn My son is now almost 13, when he was approx 6 we were told he had webbed feet as 2 toes on either foot appeared to be shorter.
