Common Questions and Answers about Foot injuries surgery

foot

Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar f tn I fell down the stairs yesterday and broke my foot. No surgery needed but it's quite hard to get around. What injuries have you had while pregnant? I'd like to know I'm not alone!

Avatar f tn My husband had ankle surgery on Dec. 4th. He had two procedures done including graphing/sealing a hole in his ankle bone and ligament tightening. Sorry, I cannot remember the medical terminology for the first procedure. He is non-weight bearing on crutches until at least Feb. 1, at his next appt. and doctor says it will probably be a cane after that? Not sure how he can go straight to a cane, where he will have to walk on his foot, when he has not been allowed to put any weight on it yet.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed with a lisfranc fracture dislocation in my right foot. The amount of displacement is only 2mm. I was offered surgery but the podiatrist I saw wasn't really convincing either way (you need the surgery vs. you can get away without it). I also have a fractured second metatarsal and fractured third metatarsal. I have no pain, have been non-weight bearing for almost 4 weeks. Weight bearing x-rays showed no shifting whatsoever. My question is....
Avatar f tn I haven’t had foot reconstructive surgery but I’ve had multiple back injuries/surgeries that have resulted in nerve pain down my entire leg and into my foot. I am sure t will help you stretch your ligaments/tendons. Keep elevating your leg when your foot becomes swollen. I hope you see a lot of improvement once you’ve had PT for a while.
Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
Avatar f tn What can I do to help the pain? There's been talk of surgery and/or shots in my foot under an xray. Could I just put it in a cast for awhile and let it heal?
Avatar f tn I'm pretty sure it isn't broken but then I've never broken a bone before so I have no idea. I was in a shop and one of the clothing rails dropped a short distance (probably from my knee height) onto my foot. It really hurt and throbbed for a while. But it's still hurting almost 2 weeks later and the bruise only just seems to be coming out! Is that normal?
Avatar m tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include inflammations, re-injuries, loose bodies, tendon injuries etc. I would suggest considering a follow-up with your treating orthopedician to consider the possibilities and for appropriate management. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a distal fibula fracture and was wondering about how long before it'll heal. I had fallen down the stairs of my apt. after moving some stuff, missing a step, landing on right foot, and I couldn't walk afterward. The fall itself didn't hurt me, but I knew immediately my ankle was broken as it was swollen. I have some of the posts about it and it scares me that it may not unite. What is the general outlook for this type of fracture?
Avatar f tn s foot is 1 size larger than his other foot and he still has complete bruising of the foot and where the incision was. You will probably never regain 100% movement. However, if you are concerned you should talk to your doctor or phyiscal therapist. The pain and numbness is normal because they had to cut through nerves. The numbness/burning is the nerves more than likely trying to repair themself. The pain is just because you had a major surgery. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Both with the repair itself and the wound. I would suggest immediate consultation with an orthopedist who specializes in foot and ankle surgery.
Avatar m tn I have now been doing therapy for about 4 weeks and I am still having a lot of pain in the front of my ankle towards the outside of my foot and along the bottom of my foot right below the 5th meditarsal. Should I be concerned or is this just part of the healing?
Avatar f tn If you can provide additional information our suggestions may be better. Did you have surgery on the foot? What treatments have been tried? Are you continuing to exercise it? Does it still swell? Have you seen a sports medicine physician? Often they are good at treating injuries of the foot. Please let us know how you are doing and if you'd like to provide additional information it would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn During the surgery the surgeon had to cut through a vein and the blood flow to the foot was expected to re-route itself over time. Years later my ankle still swells up to the size of a tennis ball if I am on it too long. I also have an almost constant pain in my lower leg area and ankle that sometimes has to be treated with medication for pain relief. I am concerned that something is still not right in my leg.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a pain in my right foot. It is on the top of my foot and only last a few seconds then goes away. Seems to happen most when I am relaxed or laying down. I can't recall any injuries, there is no bruising and does not hurt to touch or press. It is quite painful while it's happening and has been going on for the last 3 days. Does anyone know what this might be or how I can stop it from happening?
Avatar f tn My son is now almost 13, when he was approx 6 we were told he had webbed feet as 2 toes on either foot appeared to be shorter.
Avatar m tn Hello. My name is Osama I'm 25 years old from Egypt 2 weeks ago, I wake up in the morning with pain in my right ankle. The pain gradually worsens over the next few days becoming very severe and I couldn't stand on my right foot. My right ankle and foot also became swollen. The orthopedic doctor initially said that this was just a synovitis and prescribed some anti inflammatory drugs. The pain slightly decreased.
Avatar f tn My ankle was badly displaced to the inside of my foot and the following day I had surgery and hardware added to repair the injury. In December of 2012 I had arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue in the joint which was impairing my motion and since having this done I still have pain in the outter and joint of my ankle and a burning feeling along the top of my foot around my toe joints. I thought that after having the scar tissue removed I would feel better but to the contrary.
Avatar m tn I also have crush injuries with multiple fractures (whtever that means) in the left foot and some crush injury to the right foot. I have nerve damage in both feet. I sympathize with your frustration! I keep asking when I can walk again and what else can be done. I was told my pain could last for a couple years and mother nature is the only healing treatment available. Nothing else can be done. I am scared that I may never be able to work construction again with out severe pain.
Avatar n tn Other conditions that can cause foot pain include ligament injuries and joint irritation. These problems can also be relieved with more accommodating footwear. Treatment of foot pain often consists of anti-inflammatory medications, footwear modifications, and inserts for your shoes. Metatarsal pads help to take pressure off the ball of the foot. If some simple steps do not alleviate your symptoms, you should see your doctor to ensure you are receiving adequate treatment.
Avatar f tn Hello, Thanks for that info. She hasn't had any dental treatment or as far as I know a pedicure, but it's interesting to hear you say that the infection appeared in your foot even though it was caused by your tooth. She's certainly had plenty of sports injuries in other parts of her body though so perhaps it could be caused by that. I hope that you get better soon.
