Avatar n tn Other conditions that can cause foot pain include ligament injuries and joint irritation. These problems can also be relieved with more accommodating footwear. Treatment of foot pain often consists of anti-inflammatory medications, footwear modifications, and inserts for your shoes. Metatarsal pads help to take pressure off the ball of the foot. If some simple steps do not alleviate your symptoms, you should see your doctor to ensure you are receiving adequate treatment.
15695260 tn?1549593113 I have had most of the normal overuse running related problems in the past (probable stress fracture in foot, shin splints, achilles tendonitis, runners knee, IT band problems, hamstring issues) - but I wouldn't blame those on bad running shoes as much as training too much or increasing mileage too quickly, lack of experience, and part of the running learning process is learning when little problems might become bigger problems and the need for pulling back a bit before they do become bigg
Avatar m tn I have been playing football for 3 years now and no serious injuries in the past two. A few days ago i started getting a pain on my left foot about 2-3 inches above the big toe. It hurts the most when I walk up stairs or walk in general. When playing football i dont feel any pain what so ever because my mind is focused on the game. I am a Defensive linemen and i am 6'5" 290 lbs if that helps. There is no bruising or swelling. Please help me!
Avatar f tn You can try an ice or cool pack to your feet before and after running, foot powder to help, a foot spray for athletes foot. These things have been known to help. New shoes and socks or these methods does often solve the problem for runners. One other note on shoes is that maybe your feet have grown a tiny bit and so your shoes still fit but are tight, all of them. Too tight shoes can cause this. If that doesn't help, I would say that you need to see a doctor at this point.
Avatar m tn i'm no expert, but i'll offer what i can. first of all, if this is not just discomfort and you're pain is severe enough to make you stop repeatedly, i think it's probably a good idea to discontinue running until you have a better understanding of what is causing the pain. did you say you were running on the beach? running on the sand could encourage awkward movements that may strain muscles or jar the skeletal system.....
Avatar n tn I hurt my foot about 4 months ago. The pain originated on the top of my foot near the 3rd and 4 th metatarsals. I felt a piercing pain with each step, so I wrapped it and stayed off of it. Now it is healed (well at least no more pain) but the back right side of my knee is in a lot of pain...It hurts when a run or walk and RICEing it doesnt seem to help. Please help!!!!
Avatar m tn Some people who are basketball players or runners get all manner of foot problems. Of course, the only way to get a true diagnosis is to see a dermatologist, or at least your doctor.
Avatar n tn I've been using the treadmill daily and have been getting pain on the right side of my foot. It's an aching pain that gets worse with the use of the treadmill; this has been going on for about 2 weeks now. What could be causing this? I also have reduced bone density and Osteoporosis.

Avatar f tn I would like to run/walk a 5k. Any runners out there? I need a training schedule and ideas of how long to train. I walk 4 miles every day and currently walk a 13 minute mile. I am looking at a 5k 4 weeks from now and 8 weeks. I would like to do both, but will register for the later one if I need more time to train. I would like to step it up to some type of running, even if my time is quite slow.
Avatar n tn I was not an avid runner, it was a new years resolution to start it, by the summer I found out i was pregnant and I didn't want to use it an an out excuse. So. I kept running. My doctor and runners forums advised watching my temp and heart rate and obviously how you are feeling. So that's what I did, I jogged vs ran. I continued up till 7 mths. My last hoorah was a half marathon!
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a pain in my right foot. It is on the top of my foot and only last a few seconds then goes away. Seems to happen most when I am relaxed or laying down. I can't recall any injuries, there is no bruising and does not hurt to touch or press. It is quite painful while it's happening and has been going on for the last 3 days. Does anyone know what this might be or how I can stop it from happening?
Avatar f tn My son is now almost 13, when he was approx 6 we were told he had webbed feet as 2 toes on either foot appeared to be shorter.
Avatar f tn OMG I just looked down at my feet today and was horrified at how my feet and ankles look. I usually have really skinny feet but now it's puffy like a pillow. I totally freaked. Im 33 wks now I didn't even realize it for so long because I usually wear runners for work an not heels so I didn't even notice my feet were getting bigger. Yuck! Does anyone have any advice on how to unpuff my feet? ...it sounds so vain but I think that's why my feet are feeling tired and strained.
Avatar f tn I have foot drop and have two types of braces for it. One if a bulky brace that was casted to my foot, and the other is a "leaf up" brace. I had a TERRIBLE time finding shoes to accomodate either shoe. Here is what I've discovered: the shoe MUST have a removable insole. This is to give the shoe "depth" to have room for the brace. Also, the shoe must have a high back as the shoe actually works in conjunction with the brace.
Avatar f tn The shin muscles can also be somewhat alleviated by footwear and choice of surface. Runners who strike heavily with the heel should look for shoes which provide ample rear foot cushioning. Such shoes may be referred to as "stability" or "motion control" shoes. The so-called "neutral" shoes for bio-mechanically efficient runners may not have adequate support in the heel, because the runners for whom these shoes are intended do not require it.
