Avatar f tn I had an x ray, and it confirmed a stress line, of the cuneiform bone of foot. I was put in a cast for two weeks. I am now in a crepe bandage for a week. It is very pain and it really hurts on weight bearing. It is also painful at the back of my leg when I walk. Could you explain what a stress line is? and how long it will take to heal. I have bechets disease and I am on azathioprine treatment. I have also got surgical menopuase, I had my ovaries out 9 years back. I am on HRT.
Avatar f tn I have a lump that seems attached to the bone on the top of my foot. (From the diagram I looked up it seems to be on the 2nd cuneiform) it does not move and by that I mean it feels like it is anchored to the bone, it has gotton bigger over the last few days. (No injuries, no trauma). The lump does not hurt but my foot aches and it travels up to my ankle and almost up to my hip.I couldnt sleep last night because of the dull ache and cramps. I have tried to make an appointment with my Dr.
Avatar n tn I got in a fight with the ice last week and the ice won! My foot went one direction, but my knee went another. Just before I hit the ground, I felt and HEARD a 'pop'! My MRI report reads: "The menisci and cruciate ligaments are intact. High grade proximal medial collateral ligament sprain. The medial retinaculum is nearly completely torn from its femoral attachment. Articular cartilage ulcer at the medial patellar facet.
Avatar n tn In 2000, I herniated L4-L5 disc with resulting excruciating pain down my right leg into my foot with residual right lateral foot numbness and calf weakness. I underwent partial disectomy and laminectomy of L4-L5 eight weeks later and within a year I had minimal pain and about 85% of my calf strength back. The next 7 years were unremarkable and I played sports, worked as a nurse, basically returned to my normal life.
Avatar n tn The only way to find out if there is a stress fracture anywhere in the foot, in the metatarsals or any of the cuneiform or cuboid bones is to have an xray. You are doing the right thing in applying cold compresses to the foot. Also rest the foot as much as you can and elevate it.
1385464 tn?1293443504 I have had major multiple injuries in the last 10 years. Shattered shoulder blade, fractures of: L4-L5 processes, sternum, both wrists (distal radius) several fingers, ankle, foot avulsion, major knee injury both sides (ACL and medial crucial ligament) The list actually goes on and on. What I'm asking is HOW am I going to make it 30 years from now when I'm in my 60's if I hurt this bad now? It makes me angry when I'm in pain.
Avatar m tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include inflammations, re-injuries, loose bodies, tendon injuries etc. I would suggest considering a follow-up with your treating orthopedician to consider the possibilities and for appropriate management. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have been told that I have a stress line of the Cuneiform bone of foot. Was put in a walking plaster for two weeks. Still swollen and painful after three weeks. How long do these take to heal? and what further treatment is possibly available?
Avatar n tn What does "High signal within the posterior horn of the medial and lateral menisci suggesting small tears" mean in lamens terms? Does this sort of knee injury usually wind up with orthoscopic surgery, normal surgery, or does it usually heal on its own?
Avatar m tn Essentially, you have two injuries to your knee. The first is a torn medial meniscus, or a torn cartilage. The rest is a description of the shape of the tear. A bucket handle flops back and forth inside the knee, like the handle on a bucket, and can cause pain, locking, and swelling. This treated arthroscopically and will require either repair or removal of the damaged piece of meniscus. The second injury is a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament, (ACL).
Avatar f tn I am sorry you hurt your foot. See if you can find a good foot/ankle surgeon and avoid the podiatrist. There is a big difference in the two. Also if you can find a good foot/ankle surgeon at a teaching hospital.
Avatar n tn No weight placed upon the leg at all. Injury occured two weeks ago. Yesterday, the foot/ankle now has sever edema even after the RICE. What is going on. Is there a need for concern. What's next in the treatment plan. Can anyone help me.
Avatar n tn plaster casted orthotics are better fitted than foam impression ones. a medial flange would help take weight off the inner portion of the foot better than a lateral post. typically, a lateral post shifts more weight to the inner foot area. if you pronate a lot and have tibialis pain, a ritchie brace or arizona brace would hold the medial ankle more upright, whereas an orthotic has limits for doing so. it would be difficult for me to assess your orthotics w/o seeing them.
1961313 tn?1326290364 Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. So on medial side it will be due to medial meniscal tear. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint. You will need X-rays and MRIs of the knee to find the exact. Treatment will follow correct diagnosis. Do consult an orthopedic specialist at the earliest.
Avatar f tn degree) After MRI there is no sign of a medial meniscus tear. I am allergic to all NSAIDS and Morphine. My doctor thinks I am a good candidate for the platelet injection. Can you tell me about the possible effects following the injection? Increased soreness etc. Currently there is pain while walking and any flexon, extension too. I am an active and healthy person who loves to hunt and be in the outdoors.I am still lifting upper body weights and have discontinued all cardio.
Avatar f tn I'm a 28 yo female with possible hypothyroidism (TSH was elevated at 6.25 but fT4 is normal) I just noticed a change in my skin around my medial left ankle. It's like an inch in diameter, it's shiny no bumps, redness, scaling or elevation. And it does not itch. I have not noticed changes anywhere else. Is it related to thyroid issues or could it be something else? The only meds I'm on is birth control.
Avatar m tn I fell the er xray said small right avulsion fx with severe sprain after 5 weeks of swelling and pain I had an mri done results showed a non displaced slightly comminuted fx of posterior talus extending to medial process contusion of the calcaneous inferiorly joint effusion and grade ll ligament damage with partial tear.
Avatar n tn I had a bad fall about a year ago where I landed full force onto my knee which resulted in swelling and bruising that went from my knee down to my foot. I had pain on certain movements from then on. When I would get up sometimes my knee felt like it gave out. Also since then I have not been able to kneel down without pain in the kneecap.
Avatar f tn Pain on the medial side of the knee is usually related to medial meniscal tears, injuries to the medial collateral ligament, tendonitis, and even to arthritis. Depending on the severity of these conditions, you may have pain only while running or when you are walking as well. Please consult an orthopedic specialist and avoid running until this is diagnosed and treated. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm 14. I was rather large and was putting a lot of pressure on my knee through sports, and I fell badly on it at one point. About six months later, I went for an MRI (Jul 2017). The MRI said that there were "incresed signal intensities in the posterior horn of medial mesicus, suggestive of prior injury at this age. There is also probable tear at the posterior medial meniscus root." My knee still causes me trouble and hurts a lot of the time. What would be the right treatment?
Avatar f tn When I lift my left foot to walk, my knee jerks and then I place my foot on ground, usually I land on forefoot. There is swelling on medial side of knee as well. and lots of stiffness. My ROM is good, Extension 0 and Flexion 133. I had uncemented TKR, and latest Xray showed bone has not fused with prosthesis yet. Can someone help me. Thanks.
