Common Questions and Answers about Foot injuries from running

foot

Avatar m tn Running forward aggravates it, but running side-step does not (except when I plant hard on my right foot to begin side-stepping left). Squatting/standing from seated position can cause pain. Pain flairs sometimes just when I get out of bed. 43 yr - Male - played competitive level soccer for over 30 years. Recently tennis. No previous - serious knee injuries. Hoping to get insights from this community before paying to see an Ortho. Any sugestions?
Avatar m tn I am 34 year old female with chronic bilateral ankle pain. The pain in my right foot is terrible..my ankle aches all the time, my left foot is bearable. I can't wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running.
3851566 tn?1348338001 I stubbed my foot very hard running, and there is a lot of blue bruising on my toes and around my joints and on the top of my foot. After I stubbed it I got really hot for a few minutes and light headed. That made me think I probably broke something in my foot. It is very painful to try to walk on it, but other than that it doesn't bother me that much its not in constant pain.
Avatar f tn I'm pretty sure it isn't broken but then I've never broken a bone before so I have no idea. I was in a shop and one of the clothing rails dropped a short distance (probably from my knee height) onto my foot. It really hurt and throbbed for a while. But it's still hurting almost 2 weeks later and the bruise only just seems to be coming out! Is that normal?
Avatar n tn Hey Allie, I also run XC/Track and I'm 16 too. I also have had heart palpitations from running and their no fun. Your feet probably just need some rest, I'd say you may have worked them too hard or done some running on hard surfaces. The one thing I could suggest would be to rest. If you keep on running it could result in some more serious issues. Ask your coach about it. MAKE your mother take you to the doctor if it gets worse. Good luck.
Avatar n tn He said that was probably something I was born with. He said he did not know what was wrong with my foot and sent me to see a foot and ankle specialist. They ordered an ultrasound to rule out blood clots and there were not any. Now the foot and ankle specialist does not know what is wrong with my foot. I am not able to walk much on my foot and I can not put my toes to the floor. When I do walk on it, I have to walk on the side of my foot because the pain is so bad.
Avatar m tn i'm no expert, but i'll offer what i can. first of all, if this is not just discomfort and you're pain is severe enough to make you stop repeatedly, i think it's probably a good idea to discontinue running until you have a better understanding of what is causing the pain. did you say you were running on the beach? running on the sand could encourage awkward movements that may strain muscles or jar the skeletal system.....
15695260 tn?1549593113 I think those who switch when they become professionals do so because they have to -- you're not allowed to run barefoot in higher competition, is what I think it is. But they've already built up so much foot strength over a lifetime. I've never been a distance runner, and I haven't been able to run at all for years. Can't hardly walk, actually. Too many injuries and medication reaction that stopped me from being able to sleep anymore. It took its toll.
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar f tn its ONLY my left heel.... its preventing me from running bc its still sore and i dont wanna irritate it more. do i need new shoes? am i running the wrong way? pls help!!
Avatar m tn I have been playing football for 3 years now and no serious injuries in the past two. A few days ago i started getting a pain on my left foot about 2-3 inches above the big toe. It hurts the most when I walk up stairs or walk in general. When playing football i dont feel any pain what so ever because my mind is focused on the game. I am a Defensive linemen and i am 6'5" 290 lbs if that helps. There is no bruising or swelling. Please help me!
155639 tn?1251738603 I took a few days off running and ran only one day the next week. I supplemented spinning classes for my cardio. I had a indepth sports massage on the area. I also went to my podiatrist who confirmed that it was an achilles issue but not a severe one. I have a lift in the shoe where I am having this problem. The one issue that I am really concerned about is the creaking feeling I will feel when moving my foot. This feeling has improved but is still there.
Avatar f tn While running to 1st base last night, the short stop threw the ball to first where the softball hit me about 3-4 inches above my ankle bone...on the inside of my leg. The injured area swelled immediately. I stayed in the game and next hit I ran to 3rd base where the injured area had swollen about 4X as large as the initial impact. I hobbled out of game but was able to put weight on my foot and was able to move my ankle in all directions without direct pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a pain in my right foot. It is on the top of my foot and only last a few seconds then goes away. Seems to happen most when I am relaxed or laying down. I can't recall any injuries, there is no bruising and does not hurt to touch or press. It is quite painful while it's happening and has been going on for the last 3 days. Does anyone know what this might be or how I can stop it from happening?
Avatar f tn one nick from the foot place triggered everything but if i didnt get my foot nicked i would have never knew it was my root canal...but ask you daughter if she been to the foot place before all her medical issues...hope i helped somewhat.
Avatar m tn Exactly 2 weeks ago, I sprained my left ankle (rolled, stepped on someone's foot) during basketball. It was immediately iced and wrapped in an ankle brace. There was no bruising the next day and I could walk on it with a limp the day after that. I have been rehabbing it in the last week and I could jog and even sprint forward. However, there is some pain in lateral movement and pain at the bottom of my foot when i cut (in basketball).
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with debilitating foot pain for almost two years. First diagnose was Plantar Fasciitis and I was treated with injections and a walker boot and also PT. Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks!
2108469 tn?1334054530 ¿ Can running , or gym whatever , help to relief the symptoms of hypothyroidism ?
Avatar n tn this morning whilst out running, a car ran over my feet knocking me to the ground. A paramedic and police came. I have a bump on my head which hurts to touch. My feet felt ok after, but I think I was a bit shocked. My left foot starting to become fuzzy later in the afternoon, like pins and needles and it's gone quite cold. Is this nerve damage? Or is it a normal reaction?
10520198 tn?1410756360 **1 YEAR AGO** I went to physical therapy when I came back from from deployment, and received deep tissue therapy for my shin pain. The deep tissue therapy helped my shins recover after each run, and the bumps on my shins started to disappear after each session (once a week). After my physical therapy sessions were completely over, I only had sensitive and tender shins after working out.
973741 tn?1342342773 Tempo runs on the track, springs on the track, running on trails and side walks, running through fields, running through fields bare foot, hills and lots of core conditioning. He wasn't very big on stretching. Their cool down was a 2 mile run. His coach was a track/field and cross country runner at Auburn. Not shabby. And he is young and has produced in his 5 years at the school a pretty successful CC team. We buy running shoes on a regular basis so he always has good shoes.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks so much for your question. The doctor you've seen is affiliated with the Army? How is this impacting your ability to serve? It does sound uncomfortable. I think a second opinion would be important to continue exploring what is happening. Your feet are newly flat? Different things can cause feet to go flat. Have you seen a podiatrist specifically? That's probably the best thing to do. There are different TYPES of flat feet as well.
