Avatar f tn Rest cramps: Cramps at rest are very common, especially in older adults, but may be experienced at any age, including childhood. Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week). The actual cause of night cramps is unknown.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Muscle cramps can be very disturbing and can occur in many situations, like rest or nocturnal cramps, fatigue cramps, hyponatremia, hypocalcemia or tetany, hypomagnesemia, hypokalemia, contractures. Also inherited in MacArdle’s disease, protective reflex from injury, hypokalemia. Certain issues have been ruled out, get a fresh investigation done for the others. Considering her age group, muscular dystrophies also need contemplation.
Avatar n tn It seems many here suffer leg cramps on and off treatment and there have been a number of threads with tips that include tonic water, increasing potassium, etc. Might want to search "leg cramps HCV," and I am sure people will pop in with their two cents. I don't know about the Restful Legs, but as we always say, check with your doc first. If you are cirrhotic it may be that zinc will help (also suggested by other members in previous threads).
5079728 tn?1365549989 I've had severe nocturnal leg cramps over the years. It's taken many years of pain to try to figure out how to minimize the leg/foot spasms that always start up when I'm sleeping. I figured out this would happen mostly in the summer months or when I would walk a long distance or get too much exercise. Also whenever I sweat at all during the day the cramps would occur at night. I have a friend who also has hcv and he has the same problem.
Avatar n tn Supraventricular tachycardia, SVT, is common cause of this type of symptoms. you should wear an event monitor or a loop recorder to record your heart rate and rhythm during these episodes. Because you are young it is unlikely to be atrial fibrillation, a more worrisome form of SVT. I think sleep apnea should also be rulled out because it is probably the only thing that could cause atrial fibrillation in some as young as you are.
Avatar f tn Is anyone experiencing foot cramps? My left foot keeps cramping and it hurts for days at a time. Anything to releive the pain?? Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn my husbands foot always cramps up after we have sex....is there a way to stop this....send me a private messege......
Avatar m tn I've been having constant foot cramps. Podiatrist recommended some stretches and stuff, but also suggested a thyroid test. FT3 is 3.22 (2.57-4.43) FT4 is 1.17 (0.64-1.77) TSH is 4.24 (0.27-4.2) Anti-Tg is 41.14 (1000 (<5.61) So the TSH is just a hair too high, but the anti-TPO is off the chart. Is there a thyroid problem or not? What does this mean? I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist, but I just want to get ahead of the game.

Avatar f tn Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week). The actual cause of night cramps is unknown. Sometimes, such cramps are initiated by making a movement that shortens the muscle. An example is pointing the toe down while lying in bed, which shortens the calf muscle, a common site of cramps.
Avatar f tn I get foot cramps when I lye down and when I drive. I soon as my feet don't touch the ground they curl and hurt a lot. Anybody with that ? please help.
Avatar f tn Dear Cairn, Thank you very much for your question. I am happy to address the issues that you pose, although it is important that you recognize that my impression is based entirely on the information you have provided in your posting and is by no means a replacement for an office visit with a neurologist. Diagnosis is contingent on detailed history and physical exam and as such, the following information should be considered solely for educational purposes.
Avatar f tn Did you recently start the medication? Yes, it can cause twitching, though it could also be caused by something else. But if you just started it then it might be the culprit. And as to your nocturnal panic attacks, are you saying they are also new after starting the med, or this is what you're taking the med to treat?
Avatar f tn Does anybody else get those crazy calf cramps that tighten up like crazy? And it just hurts sooo bad. Ughhh !!!
Avatar f tn When it starts, press your foot against the wall or bed or something. Anything to make your foot flat. I couldn't stand up with mine, they were bad. But making your foot flat will relieve it QUICK.
Avatar m tn I am having constant foot cramps. Do you have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Avatar f tn Hi all, In the past 2 days I have experiences the most painful and uncomfortable cramps in the bottom of my foot, my toes are curling up and are stiff. They are coming about 4 times per day and lasting 30-40 minutes of agony each time. Any ideas of what this is????
Avatar n tn Hi kristy33 I know how you feel. One of my biggest pet peeves is doctors with bla-se' attitudes when you feel like you've got one foot in the grave. My sister was in the ER 2 days ago with these symptoms and her tsh was at 4 and her goiter was visable to the naked eye. Now today her goiter is disappearing and she feels even worse. She is sooooo sensitive to meds that she takes half the lowest dose of synthroid or it sends her into a tailspin.
