Common Questions and Answers about Foot bones tarsi

Avatar m tn t wear shoes other than sneakers, and even wearing sneakers my foot aches. I was diagnosed with sinus tarsi syndrome. Originally in May 2015, I had grade 2 ankle sprain of ATFL ligament and bone edema in calcaneus...this was after completing exercise program T25 and running. Had CT scan, MRI scans, cortisone injections, Xrays, and everything shows to be normal now, but the pain has not subsided. I even had sinus tarsi debridement surgery in my right foot.
Avatar f tn Since there is swelling on one side this could be due to ligament tear or bony spur. Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. Osteoarthritis, gout and rheumatoid arthritis are the other possibilities. Bursitis can give a sudden onset pain. Dislocation or rupture of a tendon can also cause shooting pain.
Avatar m tn I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING UP DURING THE NIGHT UNABLE TO WALK ON MY RIGHT FOOT. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHEN I REST THE RIGHT FOOT WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH WHEN I STAND ON IT. ALSO LIVING IN QUEENSLAND CAN YOU SUGGEST A SPECIALIST. I NEED HELP.
Avatar f tn Hi! So about 5 months ago i was playing basketball and had very sharp pain in my foot and ankle. I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with tendonitis. About a month later it was no better so they sent me for physical therapy and i was diagnosed with something called sinus tarsi syndrome. I went back after another 6-8 weeks and they gave me a cortisone shot. The shot worked for about 2 weeks, i was cleared to get back to everything, but the pain began to return.
Avatar f tn Mine do that! Even if I move my foot my hips crack and pop. It's normal. Mine started doing it at 22 weeks.
Avatar f tn This procedure involves a small incision for insertion of a titanium stent to be placed into the sinus tarsi of the foot. He mentioned recovery was within 3 weeks, then have the other foot done. Of course, I took him to another specialist for a second opinion, this time asking the doctor to please look at my 11 year old son as well. This doctor also suggested the surgical procedure for both of them. Have you heard of this procedure? If so, do you know the success rate/benefits?
1114793 tn?1258730647 Another thing that started on Monday at about 4pm was that he lost up and down motion in his right wrist and right foot. He said the tendons felt really sore and it was impossible to move. We are not sure if this is related. He went to the emergency department on Monday evening, and they conducted a blood test and x-rays. The blood test showed no infection (he had no fever anyway). Previously, he was tested for rheumatoid arthritis and the results came back negative.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have either had a serious sprain or broken some of those tiny bones that are in the foot. You definitely should see your doctor and he will probably order an X-ray. That sounds painful. I twisted mine before by missing a step, and the hospital put on a cast and this relieved the pressure on my foot and made it feel a lot better. Mine was just a sprain.
Avatar m tn Pain on the outer side of ankle felt especially when you put weight on it is usually due to sinus tarsi syndrome (pain just front of lateral malleolus on the outer side of ankle). There is no swelling accompanying the pain. This is usually managed conservatively with anti-inflammatory drugs, shoes that keeps the person stable (low heel or flats), intermittent immobilization of ankle, use of ankle sleeve and by easily available over-the-counter orthoses.
Avatar f tn Putting any weight on an operated foot or ankle can do damage to the repair that’s been done. Bones need time to heal. Plates or screws that may have been added during surgery need the bones to heal around them. Adding weight too soon can interrupt this important internal healing process.
Avatar n tn I have no arch left as my bones have all collasped. I also get 3mthly cortizone shots into my broken bones to relieve the inflamation the best pain relief ever. Are you still getting any treatment??

Avatar f tn how can i get my foot to move like it used to before i broke it cause now its stiffened up so much that it hurts when i try popping any of the bones
Avatar f tn It feels like a bone is actually out of place or something and the support of my foot bones is missing. If I have actually put weight on the foot it will drop me. The pain is excruciating. I wiggle the foot around a little (ouch!) and then something clicks very lightly and the pain disappears almost instantly. I suspect it's something as minor as a tendon that has slipped out of its groove, but boy it hurts! I have had that thing happen for many years, long before the MS.
Avatar m tn Where the talus meets the bones of the foot, it forms the subtalar joint, which is important for walking on uneven ground. The talus is an important connector between the foot and the leg and body, helping to transfer weight and pressure forces across the ankle joint. Refer http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00170 Your surgeon must have decided bearing these facts in mind. Hope this is useful.
Avatar n tn For the last 6-8 weeks I have been having pain when I step on my feet in the morning, it feels like the bones in the top of my foot are pressing together, I generally goes away once I walk on it until I sit a while. Until later in the evening it beguins again. Lately though it feels like a nerve or something is being pinched in my shin and I have to take ibuprophen before going to bed so that it doesn't wake me.
Avatar n tn Sometimes it is best to take them to the doctor and get the proper wrap for the foot that will make it heal faster...with so many bones in the feet a micro fracture could take months to heal without proper attention. Let me know how he is....
Avatar n tn I just did a little searching and I'm thinking I have Extensor Tenosynovitis on my left foot. Its painful when I walk and I feel the pain on the top of my left foot and it also hurt whenever I lift my front foot up and it also hurts when I go down the stairs. Just a little medical background: I'm 35 years old, male, 5'10, 240 lbs, and I get gout attacks from time to time (1-3 times a year). This pain started a year ago after I had gout attack on my left foot.
Avatar f tn I cant seem to wear shoes that will snug around the top of my foot too much or my foot will come out alittle more swollen on top. I still have the bump but at the moment there isnt really any pain. I havent tried messing with it lately either.
Avatar f tn The foot and ankle are made up of many small bones. In between these bones, like any other joint like your knee or hip, there are small pads of cartilage that cushion the space between them. Over time, these pads can wear away (osteoarthritis), and when the bones grind together it causes pain. I'm not saying this is what's happening, but it's one possible cause.
Avatar m tn my rite leg is several inches shorter than my left because of a operation on rt foot three years ago . my rite foot is not normal. the bones have collapsed .
