Common Questions and Answers about Foot bones ossification

foot

Avatar f tn m 37 and recently rolled my foot, I was told that I fractured one of the sesamoid bones in half and also fractured the base of the fifth metatarsal. It is completely separated. I was in a boot for two months and had another X-ray done because I'm still having pain, then another radiologist said that it looks normal and that it's a common thing for the base of the fifth metatarsal to be completely separated, they stated that it was an ununited ossification center of the fifth metatarsal.
301640 tn?1302652334 It could be either with rickets or suffering from any ailment that prevents the due ossification of the bones, or is improperly fed, the bowed condition may remain persistent. Thus the chief cause of this deformity is rickets. Skeletal problems, infection, and tumors can also affect the growth of the leg, sometimes giving rise to a one-sided bow-leggedness.
Avatar f tn Marginal anterior osteophytic lippingis noted at C4/5, C5/6 and C6/7 with ossification of the anterior longitudinal ligament." The disc heights are apparently well maintained. LUMBORSACRAL SPINE and PELVIS - "Minor anterior osteophytic lipping is noted at L4/5 but the disc all well maintained. no spondylolisthesis or spondylolysis.
Avatar n tn Go to your work freely and forget about this small problem where I am not sure of a fracture in this region, at the same unexperienced medic may see normally shaped vertebrae as fractures (they simply have a specific telescoping look here). Moreover in your age you have a strong ability of ossification so your bones become stronger after fracures and no chance to distract them with any procedure.
Avatar f tn I have opll- ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament in the cervical spine region c2 thru c4. I had laminoplasty surgery 1 year and 3 months ago in the cervical region to alleviate the severe spinal stenosis with spinal cord compression that was occurring partly because of the OPLL. I have had more pain since the surgery than prior to the surgery, My surgery was from c2-c7 in all.
Avatar f tn Mine do that! Even if I move my foot my hips crack and pop. It's normal. Mine started doing it at 22 weeks.
Avatar n tn The pre-spinal soft tissues are within normal limits. Ossification or calcification seen posterior to the c3-c4 disc space level is likely ligamentous calcification although herniated calcified disc material cannot be excluded. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn The thyroid, cricoid, and greater part of the arytenoid cartilages consist of hyaline cartilage that undergoes calcification and ossification as part of the aging process. The terms “calcified” and “ossified” are often used synonymously but calcification always precedes ossification when cartilage becomes transformed into bone. Terminal differentiation and mineralization of human thyroid cartilage occurs usually after the end of adolescence.
Avatar f tn Shallor ventral extradural defects are present on the myleogram at 3-4 and 4-5 CT demonstrates a 2 mm diffuse disc protrusion with spondylosis and ossification kn the posterior longitudinal ligament resulting inmild ventral dural deformity without spinal cord impingement. the residual midsagittal dural diameter is about 11 mm There is mild right uncinate prominence at c3-4 without significatn foraminal stenosis.
Avatar n tn According to my surgeon he found chipped away bone from the clavicle, which is why the bump formed it. It is just ossification of the clavicle, which usually ossifies before other bones. You probably damaged your clavicle sometime in your life, but never new until you got older and the osteoarthritis started setting it. Basically, you think the bump formed a year ago, when in fact, it has been around longer than your think. Just notice because it is starting to hurt you, which is normal.
Avatar f tn How do I know if heterotopic ossification has occurred? If it has, can it be treated without damage to the face?
Avatar f tn I had extensive cervical fusion (c2-c7)a few weeks ago secondary to spinal myelopathy, ossification of medial lateral ligament? and degenterative disc disease. I am currently awaiting permission to start physical therapy. I walk daily with a walker as instructed and wear a bone growth stimulator four hours per day. I am a non smoker. Is there any thing else I can do to increase the chance of successful fusion and healing?
Avatar f tn On August 2nd, I received 1 dose of radiation to prevent heterotopic ossification. Also on august 2nd, i began physical therapy with heel slides, ankle flexes, and abduction. I was discharged on august 3rd. At my 2 week follow up, staples were removed and the surgeon said everything looked good and told me that post-op edema would linger for a good while. He cleared me to begin more intense physical therapy for strengthening and ROM.
Avatar f tn Less commonly, it may develop calcium deposits at the injury site in a process called heterotopic ossification. This is more serious. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have either had a serious sprain or broken some of those tiny bones that are in the foot. You definitely should see your doctor and he will probably order an X-ray. That sounds painful. I twisted mine before by missing a step, and the hospital put on a cast and this relieved the pressure on my foot and made it feel a lot better. Mine was just a sprain.
Avatar f tn Putting any weight on an operated foot or ankle can do damage to the repair that’s been done. Bones need time to heal. Plates or screws that may have been added during surgery need the bones to heal around them. Adding weight too soon can interrupt this important internal healing process.
Avatar f tn I'm 45 years old and in 2005 I broke my Tibia and fibula in my right leg. I've had 5 surgery's, including a bone graph the 3rd surgery. I'm still in horrible pain in the ankle, foot, and the approx. place where the brake was. I've had a cat scan 1 month ago and they told me there was still some non-union in the bone, is this normal after the bone graph being done 5/2/06? And what about the pain...
Avatar n tn I have no arch left as my bones have all collasped. I also get 3mthly cortizone shots into my broken bones to relieve the inflamation the best pain relief ever. Are you still getting any treatment??
Avatar f tn how can i get my foot to move like it used to before i broke it cause now its stiffened up so much that it hurts when i try popping any of the bones
Avatar f tn It feels like a bone is actually out of place or something and the support of my foot bones is missing. If I have actually put weight on the foot it will drop me. The pain is excruciating. I wiggle the foot around a little (ouch!) and then something clicks very lightly and the pain disappears almost instantly. I suspect it's something as minor as a tendon that has slipped out of its groove, but boy it hurts! I have had that thing happen for many years, long before the MS.
