Common Questions and Answers about Foot bones of humans

Avatar n tn The digestive system of dogs is very short (20-80 cm) compared to that of humans (1.5 m). Humans retain food in their digestive tracts for upwards of 24 hours, and this is what gives us the time to develop "food poisoning". Also, dogs have something in their saliva called lysozyme, which destroys pathogenic bacteria and makes it possible for dogs to eat things that would make us deathly ill.
Avatar n tn LOL! Sorry, I'm not laughing "at" you, but rather "with" you. I had a dog who buried half-chewed rawhide bones all over the house - in potted plants, behind curtains, even under furniture cushions. It's an instinctive behavior for dogs, and some dogs simply have a higher drive for that kind of behavior. That said, I suspect your dog may be a bit bored and frustrated.
Avatar f tn Mine do that! Even if I move my foot my hips crack and pop. It's normal. Mine started doing it at 22 weeks.
Avatar n tn For the last 6-8 weeks I have been having pain when I step on my feet in the morning, it feels like the bones in the top of my foot are pressing together, I generally goes away once I walk on it until I sit a while. Until later in the evening it beguins again. Lately though it feels like a nerve or something is being pinched in my shin and I have to take ibuprophen before going to bed so that it doesn't wake me.
Avatar n tn I would suggest you to go for an X-ray and check if there is any problem with the talus bone which is present on top of the arch of your foot. As there is very little soft tissue to protect the top of the foot, bone injuries are common. The second, third and fourth Metatarsals are the most commonly injured bones due to something falling on your foot. Without any fracture you would need physiotherapy and anti inflammatory medications to decrease the pain and inflammation.
Avatar f tn What causes the majority of the pain is usually the side-to-side rotation of the foot/ankle, not so much the up/down motion of flexing and extending the foot. Often the pain seems to travel up to involve the ankle and lower let. A custom-made ankle brace, one that allows your foot to flex up and down normally, but stabilizes and prevents rolling in and out, can be a big help.
Avatar f tn I wonder if any one can help. I got out of my car and went over on the side of my foot and since then i have not been able to put my heel down on the ground, if i do a get a sharp pain all the way up my leg. I have had problems before when i was younger, i have too many bones / movement in my foot so that doesn t help plus used to be a dancer and week acheiles tendon excuse the spelling Can anyone advise me on what to do? Another problem is i am on my feet most of the day with my job.
Avatar f tn Hi PLEASE HELP I have had a lump on the ball of my foot. My doctor has no idea what it is. It's sore.
Avatar f tn It can also be ligament injury. You may need a MRI of the foot and ankle. Meanwhile, rest your feet by keeping them elevated on a cushion or stool. Apply ice pack. Take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Tylenol, Aleve or Mobic. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn What all surgeries of the foot and ankle typically call for a non weight bearing protocol post operation?

Avatar n tn well at the time of 18 yo i thought i was superman but , now i know im not. i lost 3 toes and the other 70% of foot was squished. now im begging them to cut it off so i can go on with life and not haveing ot worrie when is it going to mess up again. mine swellls a lil and it makes the foot roll from side to side. it hurts nonstop. a hour walking around inside the barn puts me into 2 vicoden750s range. then all i can do is sit around and hold the spotsss that keep sharply hurting.
Avatar f tn The bones in your feet actually shift to accommodate the extra weight. Along with swelling, that's where my foot pain comes from. Just drink lots of water, the solution for pretty much everything.
Avatar f tn I can walk and bear weight on this foot but if anything comes into contact with it - like my kids keep managing to step on that particular foot - it really, really hurts, it almost stings. The area that is affected is along the edge of my foot - so almost as if it's running down from my little toe, towards my ankle. When I feel this area, it feels very tender and I can feel a small bump under the skin.
Avatar n tn Well, the obvious thought on this would be a pinched nerve. We have all sorts of little bones, tendons and nerves in that area and something pinching a nerve could cause what you are describing. Those nerves can also become inured. You should see a doctor to find out what is going on so this doesn't get worse.

Avatar f tn It feels like a bone is actually out of place or something and the support of my foot bones is missing. If I have actually put weight on the foot it will drop me. The pain is excruciating. I wiggle the foot around a little (ouch!) and then something clicks very lightly and the pain disappears almost instantly. I suspect it's something as minor as a tendon that has slipped out of its groove, but boy it hurts! I have had that thing happen for many years, long before the MS.

Avatar m tn Where the talus meets the bones of the foot, it forms the subtalar joint, which is important for walking on uneven ground. The talus is an important connector between the foot and the leg and body, helping to transfer weight and pressure forces across the ankle joint. Refer http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00170 Your surgeon must have decided bearing these facts in mind. Hope this is useful.
Avatar m tn ve done muscle/tendon damage, or even have a occult fracture of one of the bones in your feet. Remember, this foot will be with you for the rest of your life, so take good care of it! Have your Mom or some other adult you trust take you to the doctor...Good luck!
Avatar n tn Then later on he could barely walk on the foot and now it is a little swollen an it is burised on the side, but my main concern is there appears to be a knot or large bump of some kind on the side/bottom of his foot. Do you think his foot is broken?? I am debating between going to the emergency room or waiting till morning and going to the doctor, so any fast help would be nice. Thanks very much!
Avatar f tn I cant seem to wear shoes that will snug around the top of my foot too much or my foot will come out alittle more swollen on top. I still have the bump but at the moment there isnt really any pain. I havent tried messing with it lately either.
