Avatar m tn This includes a few weeks of intense testing, to include baseline levels when you awake, before and after each meal, and two hours after each meal, along with a precise calorie count and diary of your food. Later on you can reduce the number of blood sticks. You can't eat like a "normal person". Carefully prepared meals served at the same time will provide you with a guideline as to what medication protocol works best. And you need an exercise protocol.
Avatar n tn I am keeping a diary for my doctor and he may prescribe Metformin. I know I can go to Diabetes classes for info but was wondering if one can eat more normally by taking Metformin? And it seemed to spike when I had a cold but the cold is gone, but not the high blood sugar readings. Anyone else affected by illness?
Avatar f tn I have a quick guide booklet that shows me the percentage of carbs I am allowed to have, and according to that guide and the reports (from my food diary) I am meeting the percentage of carbs. Any help counting carbs/cutting carbs will greatly help. I've even considered going on the Atkins Diet, but quickly realized that this is not a diet, but a complete lifestyle change and believe it or not, I think that I am afraid of the lifestyle change.
945418 tn?1259419130 Thanks for your suggestions. You can now edit foods that you've added to My Foods. To do this, go to your Food Diary. You'll see options for Food Diary | Reports | My Foods. Click on My Foods and you'll be able to delete foods from My Foods and you can also edit the foods you've added. Please note that if you added a food, and it has been used by another member in their Food Diary, you cannot edit the nutritional info for those foods.
Avatar f tn I entered a couple of items of food in the food diary without adding all the nutritional facts. I can't figure out how to either edit the nutritional information or delete the food item and re-enter it.
Avatar n tn Woo Hoo! Thank you, Steve. I had a lot of duplicate foods or foods with only partial nutrient info in my list. Followed your instructions & was able to clean up my list pronto. It'll make it a lot quicker & easier to fill in my Food Diary with a shorter list to scroll through. Thanks so much to gailsonya for answering the question and Steve for answering it. You guys rock!
1392153 tn?1428624323 I keep a food diary...this diary also keeps track of my micronutrients...my biotin levels never show anything..its as if I never eat anything containing biotin...I 'm aware of foods containing biotin and I eat all of the foods containing biotin...why are my levels 0?...should I be taking a supplement?...I have a very slow metabolism...its not the result of an underactive thyroid ( which I have and am taking supplements for)..my TSH levels were tested the other week and they are normal...
468836 tn?1215476116 We do have a food tracker and an allergy tracker on our list of trackers to add. We're not sure when these will be available, but we'll let you know when it is. Thanks for the suggestion!
7177914 tn?1399518500 I was giving the option of doing a food diary and testing my blood sugar levels with pricking my finger time times a day when I woke up two hours after lunch and two hours after super.
Avatar m tn Eat dinner about two hours before sleeping. Elevate the head end of the bed. Keep a food diary and note down what aggravates your symptoms and avoid them. Ensure to maintain optimum weight by regular exercise. Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications NSAID's, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol and reduce stress levels. These measures need to be practiced long term for results. Hope this helps!!
349463 tn?1333571576 It's probably not you.....it's the pregnancy. Your body requires you to produce more insulin while your pregnant...practically double or triple and sometimes the pancreas just can't do the job. I failed the test too....i failed 1-hr so badly that they didn't even make me do the 3hr. So now I'm on that special diet and can only have 30 carbs per meal/snack. I get to eat 6 small meals. I keep full and what not, but no chocolate, no ice cream, no cereal, no fruit! UGH!!
Avatar m tn Perhaps to be safe I should abstain from smoking as well as food prior to the test, as nicotine could affect my blood glucose levels. But on the other hand, doesn't *nicotine withdrawal* also affect blood glucose levels? I've heard it claimed that some nicotine withdrawal symptoms are really mild hypoglycemia, although I am unsure about the accuracy of that claim. Any suggests on how to proceed?
