2017838 tn?1330598150 Good advice from tschock. It's been in the news lately that Amoxicillin has not effect on sinus infections, but we've known that here for years. A Neilmed Sinus Rinse is also good for saline, and blowing up balloons helps with the popping.
Avatar n tn To me, it sounds like a possible sinus infection. I'd suggest seeing your doctor.
612551 tn?1450022175 My personal interest in this Community is my chronic night time (sleep time) nasal congestion. I have tried the generic for Flonase (fluticasone) which didn't help much, not ow Astepro (not a steroid) which is a little more help, but none are as good as the over the counter Afrin (or similar) which can not be used for long periods. This congestion led me to recognize I have some trouble waking up with a suffocation sensession. .
Avatar m tn I am prone to sinus infections and had 4 last year until I was put on a corticosteroid (fluticasone proprionate) which has stopped the sinus infections, but not this foul smell! ENT suggested it may be a small infection that should eventually cure itself, but that was over a year ago. I have tried nasal irrigation for weeks at a time but with no change. Any ideas? Many thanks!
Avatar n tn He has been to the allergy doctor who has prescribed fluticasone and certrizine. He has seen a pediatrician who has said maybe a sinus infection and given antibiotics. He also had an x-ray at the allergy doctor's office. We are going to see the ENT in two days. I don't know if it's a tic? He says he can't breathe well. His left nostril seems more clogged than the right. It's hard to listen to him suck in air very loudly 100 plus times a day.
Avatar n tn I have j been to an ENT for my sinus problem (i.e addiction to nasal spray and nose blockage. He had given me antibiotics (course is over) . He has also given me flixonase (fluticasone propionate) nasal spray, a solophar mouth/throat spray (Dequalinium chloride '0.015gm, benzalkonium chloride 0.035gm, alcohol 6% by volume) and Fexet (Fexofenadine:120mg) to have for one month. My course ends round about 25 september 2011.
Avatar n tn t think this fully relates, but I had chonic sinusitus for eight years. I would get 4-8 sinus infections a year, constant migrains and sinus pressure headaches, and started growing an immunity to antibiotics and did take one round of a steriod drug for it. I also had allergy testing done and found at least 30 things that I'm allergic to. Most were food, but, many of them enviromental allergies that I was unaware of.
Avatar f tn This can reduce the swelling in your sinuses, helping them to drain more freely and may help to resolve the infection. If the viral sinus infection does not resolve itself, a bacterial infection may set in and abx may be needed. If you don't see improvement, I second Dame as far as seeing an ENT.
Avatar m tn i went to the same doc again he gave me steroid cream Fluticasone propionate to be applied for two months from now on!! It is used to treat secondary infection..!! The reddish rashes disappears when i apply Fluticasone propionate cream continuosly!! if i discontinue the cream! then the reddish rashes are occuring!!
Avatar n tn I've had such a tough time with sinus headaches, allergies (watery eyes, plugged ears and tinnitus) and fatigue that I finally went to an ear-nost-throat doctor last week. He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on.
Avatar n tn i have a very very persistent sinus allergy. nose blocks all the time over a year now and getting worse! i have been prescribed all this **** and none of it seems to work. all i have is my nose that gets blocked so often that i have to breathe with mouth and also have a permanent sore throat. currently in indiana. If someone can give me professional advice or recommend a specialist it would be appreciated!!! As i think my condition keeps getting worse.
Avatar f tn I am allergic to nine enviromental allergens and have been taking fluticasone propionate (flo-nase) for the past three monts and it's been working fine to treat sinus pressure, my only main symptom. However, since i started, i've noticed for the first time in as long as i remember that i've been getting thick nasal mucus either dark red or black, sometimes streaked and sometimes completely colored, while before it's always been thin and clear.
Avatar n tn The allergist still thought I had a sinus infection, so she recommended a sinus CT scan, which showed no infection. I caught a head cold around New Year’s which may have caused bronchitis to flare up again around January 12. My allergist recommended a lung x-ray -- also normal. But the cough and the asthma were still there, so they put me on another Medrol course, and Levaquin.
Avatar n tn For the past several months my nose has been driving me up the freakin' wall! It's almost always dry which leads to burning. It also always feel full like I have to constantly blow it, but when I do nothing comes out. This is gross I know, but I have to go into the bathroom and pick all of the junk out several times throughout the day. Most of the time it's kind of bloody, but I do get quite a bit of green mixed in as well.
Avatar f tn I recently saw my ENT for horrible sinus congestion. During the exam it was discovered I had a few nasal polyps growing and a lot of swelling in all sinus cavities. The doctor gave me a steroid injection and perscribed a new nasal spray, Zetonna. This nasal spray is an aerosol powder instead of liquid. I have used it for a couple days and have noticed that the congestion has gotten worse. Shouldn't the congestion be getting better with the steroid shot and nasal spray?
Avatar n tn Sometimes this test is repeated after he has used a rescue inhaler like albuterol. When there is a 20% increase the test is positive for asthma. Advair Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol) and albuterol as needed are recommended for the treatment for asthma. While exercise does not increase lung capacity, it does improve the efficiency of the lung to deliver oxygen. There is less demand with a regular exercise program. Exercise may also make your husband feel better.
Avatar n tn Was it near your nose? I checked the official prescribing information for Veramyst (fluticasone nasal spray) and it does not specifically state that this drug is contraindicated for those with melanoma or any other cancer. However, for those with recent nasal surgery, this drug should be avoided as it delays wound healing and increases the risk of fungal (Candida) infection.
Avatar f tn As soon as I started it, my snoring stopped which was a pleasant side affect, especially for my dh! Even tho the sinus is long since cleared, dh reminds me every day to use the spray lol. I don't have sleep apnea so I don't know if this would help, but I thought it was interesting. .
Avatar f tn They told me to use some powders such as zeasorb AF and gold bond. They also prescribed Fluticasone to use once a day for 3 weeks. They powders help for very short term but the feeling comes right back. The cream didn't seem to do anything. I am lost as to what this is but am miserable with it. From reading several posts on here it seems this is a very common problem but there doesn't seem to be any solution. Has anyone had luck with a diagnosis or treatment for this?
Avatar f tn I to feel like there is a lump in my throat and that I have mucus all the time down by the esophagus. My doctors keep giving me something for sinus, even though I tell them that it feels like a lump in my throat. If I lay flat, there is a wheezing sound, I have had x rays of my chest and they are fine. I feel like I have to clear my throat all the time. What can I do. He put me on a nasal spray fluticasone.
Avatar m tn I am currently applying a topical steroid for a fungal infection with the treatment to finish in a few days. I have been prescribed Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray and the information leaflet says not to use it at the same time as topical steroids. Once I finish using the topical steroid do I need to leave a gap before starting to use the nasal spray and if so for how many days?
Avatar m tn And prescribed me Albuterol for my asthma, an antihestimine for my allergies and nasonex for my sinuses and sed that that the combination should clear up my sinus problems and hopefully alleviate my headaches. But as a precautionary step She ran blood test for HIV/AIDS HEP A/B/C a liver panal kidney panal and a thyroid panal and white blood cell count she also checked my blood suger. All test apparently came back normal.
