Avatar m tn Just recently i get to know that avamys nasal spray (fluticasone furoate) can cause glaucoma and cataract. I has underlying allergic rhinitis since childhood and currently has been use avamys nasal spray for 1 year. But my condition did not improve much and doctor advice me to use for 3 months again. However i am a high risk groyp for glaucoma as i am a high myopes around - 7. Should I stop using the nasal spray as it further increase my risk for glaucoma and cataract?
Avatar m tn Drug should be taken when necessary and should not be repeated in short interval. Fluticasone mainly acts as anti inflammatory drug and has no action on heart. Hence, these drugs can be safely given in patients with Atrial fibrillation. I suggest you to consult physician for more information. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn There were no other treatments or procedures to go through; and based on the primary characteristics of the tumor, my oncologist told me he was 95 - 98% sure I would not have any problems from this. I recently heard about this allergy nasal spray called Veramyst and called my physician for a perscription. They told me they could not perscribe because of my melanoma diagnosis.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge Advair® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) has not been linked to strokes. Have you heard anything about this in the lay press?
Avatar m tn I called and asked and she just said to also take phenlyeprine (sudaphed PE) and guaifenesin (Mucinex). These help quite a bit, but they make me jittery and queasy, I have to pee really often, and I'm still sleepy from the other stuff, and I still have some congestion and sore throat. So what do I do now? Did I just get really horrible genetics and there's nothing I can do?
Avatar f tn Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this? I have not been advised supplemental oxygen as of yet.
Avatar n tn Hello, I hope you meant to say phenylepherine which is a decongestant and fluticasone which is a steroid.Yes you can take them at the same time(if using for nasal congestion) but you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion. So they should be used along with decongestants.
Avatar f tn I have been to the dermatologist a few times and have been told it was intertrigo. It is not as my skin is clear and no redness. I am a healthy 34 year old and do not have any weight issues etc. They told me to use some powders such as zeasorb AF and gold bond. They also prescribed Fluticasone to use once a day for 3 weeks. They powders help for very short term but the feeling comes right back. The cream didn't seem to do anything. I am lost as to what this is but am miserable with it.
2114467 tn?1358210256 Since fluticasone undergoes extensive first-pass and systemic metabolism via hepatic and intestinal CYP450 3A4, inhibition of the isoenzyme may significantly increase systemic bioavailability of the drug. The interaction has been reported in patients receiving fluticasone with other potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitors such as azole antifungal agents and HIV protease inhibitors.
Avatar n tn I DO have high myopia (-10) but had no eye problems other than this whatsoever, until I had a chronic sinus problem four years ago after 30 years of life with barely a cold - floaters and symptoms of cataracts (glare, halos etc) arrived within a month or so - despite my hihg myopia i had never seen even one floater. I had had routine but thorough eye exams just before the sinus problem started and no cataracts or floaters were present.
Avatar n tn Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder contains 2 medicines. The inhaled steroid Flovent® (fluticasone propionate) has a half life of around 5 hours, so it would be totally out of your system in a few days. The inhaled long-acting bronchodilator Serevent® (salmeterol) has a similar half life, so it would be totally out of your system after 5 days. When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar n tn My optometrist recently informed me I have early cataracts in both eyes. I was shocked due to my age (55) and excellent health (other than my asthma). I read of links between these drugs and cataracts. If I reduce the usage of my inhaled meds would this slow down the cataract progression? Do eye vitamins like Alcon's I-Caps help to slow the progression of cataracts? I can't find any other risk factors and this is really bothering me.
Avatar m tn That study is from 2009 and is flawed, not controlling for the fact that patients on beta blockers are in the older age groups where cataracts are more common. In any case in 2021, beta blockers have many potential side effects but cataracts is not one of them.
Avatar n tn If I remember correctly, there is a possibility it can. They usually will want to do eye testing and monitoring before and during tx. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will soon chime in.
Avatar n tn The Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol may raise your saturation, to a degree that will make oxygen use unnecessary. Your current dose of Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol is low and, at this level, highly unlikely to be associated with any clinically significant side effects. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that will slowly worsen.
Avatar n tn I'm taking amoxicillin and my cheeks are very red, like i'm sunburnt, and very hot. It's only on my cheeks no where else on my face or body. I've been givien this same medicine many times and have never had this reaction, The only other thing I can think about is I was given a corticosteroid shot and nasal spray called Fluticasone. It's not shown as a side effect of the nasal spray, but could it be from one of these other medicines. Should I call my pharmacist or doctor?
Avatar m tn I noticed that there is a small patch on my left chin, where beard is scanty. It is not completely gone but the hair is scanty and the patch is obvious. I went to my dermatologist and he told me it is Alopecia Areata, though it could be in "initial stages" and it is "too hard to say anything". He told me to apply fluticasone cream twice a day, for a month. And if the hair doesn't grow back, he will give me steroid injections. Should I get those injections?
Avatar f tn i did see dr and had blood tests and nothing was found and i was told i was well and feel well, apart from rhinitis which i still get, but i cant help wasting my life worrying. If the steroids are likely to cause PSC I will regret taking them and wish i had used a natural treatment, but at least i will understand why the psc cataracts appeared.
Avatar n tn While it is possible that the Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) could have had something to do with your developing shingles, it is very unlikely. The risk of death you mention is a very, very small risk. Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) is generally well tolerated by most people with asthma but more than a few side effects have been reported, especially with the dose that contains the highest amount of fluticasone.
Avatar n tn i have had bad headhaces and pain in my nose like presure and tender to touch down each side of my face
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed more based on the symptoms I was having, and the changes in my esophagus which were very typical for EOE patients (mucosal changes, white specks, furrows). They also saw a 2cm hiatal hernia, and mild gastritis. Since then I have added fluticasone to my medications, along with the nexium I had been taking for a few months, and gabapentin for my stomach pain. In the past few weeks I have also cut out the top 6 food allergens.
