Avatar f tn , and she took me off Zoloft immediately and put me on Fluoxetine 20 mg. X 1 week and then bumped me to 40 mg. I experiended severe nausea and no appetite. 6 weeks later, I still have nausea from the Fluoxetine. Panic attacks are a little better but I am beginning to think I should have stayed on Zoloft because I can't recall feeling this bad. I am now seeing a psychiatrist and they have taken me down to 30 mg. of Fluoxetine in hopes of helping my nausea.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.

Avatar n tn It is day 10 today - had my appointment and the doctor switched mu prozac. To zoloft. Does anyone have this. Experience and if so how long did it take to work. I forgot to ask the dr. I also scheduled an appt with my favorite counselor. I hope I see things differentLy. Very soon.
Avatar f tn My sertraline tablets recently stopped working so well and the GP switched me straight on to fluoxetine. It was a complete nightmare, withdrawal from sertraline plus the side effects from fluoxetine took me to the most terrifying place. I then stopped all ssris and have not had any for 17 days. The first week was awful but then I started to improve, I seemed to get my energy back and I could go out and do things, this was short lived.
Avatar f tn when having a bad day taking fluoxetine 10mg a day for my anxiety would it be ok to talk 20 that day?

Avatar n tn I am on Fluoxetine, will this help speed the process up? I guess it is kind of comforting knowing the reason behind all this and I can just sit back and enjoy things as much as I can...
Avatar m tn I took the SSRI, Prozac (fluoxetine) for about twenty years. Suddently, I found it it was not working and instead of curbing depression, the depresssion actually intensified. Check the internet and look up the SSRI you may be taking and research what may be in store for you. My doctor decided to place me on 300 mg of Wellbutrin a day in place of the flouxetine. It will take a few weeks to see if it works.
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
Avatar m tn Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks). My shrink decided to switch to sertraline / zoloft, but I'm feeling even worse now, 5 weeks after the SSRI switch. Do you think that there is a possibility that amlodipine or montelukast may play a role in the recurrent / resistant depression ?
Avatar f tn s making things worse, then definitely let your doctor know. I started on Zoloft but it made me feel horribly jittery and I couldn't sleep at all. I was only on it for about a week and a half before I switched because I just couldn't take it.
Avatar f tn The data set forth in this study indicate that infants who are breastfed by mothers who take fluoxetine [Prozac] track a growth curve significantly below that of infants breastfed without the medication." Previously, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (1996) found that the birth weight of babies exposed to Prozac during pregnancy was less than those not exposed to Prozac during pregnancy.
492307 tn?1214186739 assured my several times that Zoloft has NOT cause my Thyroid to act up. I was on Zoloft for 4 years. I recently decided (with my Dr.) to go off because of sexual side effects. After being weaned off slowly for 4 weeks, my hair started coming out. TONS. I was then tested and told I was Hypo. ( I have been tired for years, so it might not be the Zoloft causing this issue with my Thyroid.) Anyway, I read 'somewhere' that Zoloft has been know to cause thyroid issues?
Avatar m tn Dear doctor and fellow forum users, Since January 2009 I have come completely off various SSRI's to deal with my OCD and depression. Since 2005 I have been taking the following medications: Fluoxetine, Seroquel, Benzapine, Zoloft & Geoden among others. As stated since January 2009 I have come off the SSRI's and have experienced some extremely horrid and disgusting withdrawal affects as well as side affects during the period I took them.
475300 tn?1312423126 Fibromyalgia diagnosis this week and my doc gave me a script for 100 with a refill. Pharmacy would not fill it because I am on zoloft. A google search confirms this. So the doc ended up calling in darvocet which has acetaminaphin in which I would rather not take . I did try to get the pharm to fill the ultram as I have a dog that takes it. It would be so much cheaper to get it under my name instead of the vet. Just an FYI for those on anti d's.
Avatar n tn Hi. I think maybe SJW can help if you are depressed, like vitamins, but if you HAVE depression, thats entirely different. It did not helpl me one iota. I have chronic depression & finally hit a combo that works Wellbutrin SR, Zoloft & Lorazepam(anxiety). It takes a while for them to work although the first time I staggered all over the place. (at least I was moving..that was an improvement). About 2 wks, it started to kick in. Then it plateaued so the doc increased it and so on.
Avatar f tn I used to take Fluoxetine 20mg ( for depression and anxiety) for a few years, but now I stop as I am 7 weeks pregnant. But my work is extremely stressful and I am finding very hard to cope with all the stress at the moment. Is anyone else taking anti-depressives while pregnant? Any advice?
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar f tn It is difficult to find an antidepressant that will not cause weight gain. Zoloft is not supposed to cause weight gain. Personally I think paroxetine will cause weight gain. You can talk to your doctor about two new antidepressant one is Cymbalta the other is Pristiq.
Avatar f tn Most likely the psychiatrist would turn to one of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, such as the ones you listed (though probably not Paxil). In addition to Zoloft (sertraline), citalopram and fluoxetine are possibilities. Anxiety disorders are very treatable, with a combination of medication and cognitive-behavioral treatment.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder. I have been on four different medications; the first one was Lexapro, which made me extremely tired, then Cymbalta which made me extremely paranoid, a generic version of Zoloft, I can't remember the name which I gained 15 to 20 pounds before I realized it was the medicine, and the latest one is fluoxetine(? generic Prozac) which doesn't appear to be helping, I'm still anxious (crabby) so I went off that one as well.
Avatar m tn I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn I was on celexa for about 11 years and I went back into my depression and anxiety filled days. I saw the psychiatrist and she prescribed me zoloft. I started gradually increasing my dosage of zoloft until I reached 100 mgs about 2 weeks ago. It has been a TERRIBLE month and I do not see any improvement, if not a worsened symptoms. Could this be that zoloft is not as helping me? When I wake up in the morning my life is literally a living hell! What is the cause of this suffering?
