My shrink told me to stop the Venlafaxine one day and start Fluoxetine 20mg the next day. Shrink said there would be NO side effects.
How can this be? I know Fluoxetine takes time to build in systems and Venlafaxine goes out of your body quickly. Wont I have withdrawals and then start to feel bad as the Fluoxetine builds up in my system? Today is day 2 am I'm feeling shaky and weak and just awful.

You can also try some behaviour therapy like habit reversal training and with Exposure and Response Prevention which some nail biters find helpful.

It's meant to be a better vision of escitalopram as I'm in the uk they don't do lexapro it's cipralex here I'm on day 5 and no better yet just want things to start working really iv been told up to 2 weeks but can be as soon as 6-8 days the only side effect is the insomnia and not being able to sleep that's why iv been given zopiclone for that but don't want to have to depend on it for a long time, iv been through all this before on many different anti depressants wit
SSRIs often interact with the metabolism of lots of medications. Paroxetine (Paxil), Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Citalopram/Escitalopram (Celexa, Lexapro) are inhibitors of CYP2D6 - the enzyme responsible for metabolizing lots of medications. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) is inhibiting another enzyme.
Sertraline (Zoloft) do not have this side effect, and Venlafaxine (Effexor, a SNRI) is also perhaps a good choice, as itdood said.
I hav taken Effexor Hcl 150 mg generic called Venlafaxine HCL ER Capsules 150mg, for years. A new doc wrote for the same medication in tablet form by mistake instead of the caps.

Can anyone reccomend what to try next iv been on 2 ssri fluoxetine and sertraline with no help at all only making my anxiety and depression worse and the snri venlafaxine the same depression and anxiety worse was wondering if anybody has changed there venlafaxine and what to that has helped them currently on day 2 off being upped from 75mg after 3 week to 150mg that has made me worse and not feeling in control :o( any advice on where to go from here would be great full I see my doc tomorrow but
Paroxetine (Paxil) may be more likely cause a significant weight gain than other drugs of this type (like fluoxetine or sertraline). Studies about citalopram found no significant weight changes for most patients (but a minority of about 5% of the patients had a weight gain of more than 5 kg).

My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. When I got my last prescription I was given viepax and today was given venlafaxine hydrochloride. I have had low mood since changing even though my GP says that venladaxine is the active ingredient in all of them. Can anyone help?
My GP gave me some Diazepam to take for a week but I still felt as bad once I'd finished the course.
