ago along with as needed Clonazepam for breakthrough. I was up to 150 mg. of Zoloft. This worked great for me for all of these yrs. but recently started having more panic attacks. Went to my regular Dr., and she took me off Zoloft immediately and put me on Fluoxetine 20 mg. X 1 week and then bumped me to 40 mg. I experiended severe nausea and no appetite. 6 weeks later, I still have nausea from the Fluoxetine.

Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.

Since it takes about a month or 6 weeks for most people to have beneficial effects kick in, the side effects start well before the desired ones. Your choice is, can you tolerate the side effects for 4-6 weeks to see if the benefits come and outweigh them, or are they just too much to tolerate and this isn't the medication for you.

Hey, I have been taking the generic fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mgs tablets for about 1.5 years now. My pharmacy recently changed manufacturers and the tablets are now blue... I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-...

But would you rather be horribly depressed all the time or have to deal with a couple of side effects. For this you need so much patience, I know, but it can be done...

I was on fluoxetine for over 6 years without any side effects, then i came off it for 6 months ,I then had to go back on it ,but it started to cause a stuffy blocked nose and ear and head pressure which then resulted in pain in and around the eye ,has anyone heard of this and has this happened to anyone else?

i am taking fluoxetine for anixety,panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?

Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.

I was jus put on Fluoxetine an so far i havent noticed any side effects other then on new years eve when i had a small drink i felt alil sick but it went away after 20 mins havent had anything sense.

Except for the cats, I could have written that post myself. My husband too has lost his wife. All I want to do is sleep. I did shot 39 Friday night. I don't know why the eating is off, but I think it is all those weeks of Victrelis. Everything tastes bad to me. I don't even want to go to the grocery store. My hemoglobin will not stay up in the 10s even with procrit. I may have to riba reduce for awhile.

just a quick question if anybody can answer it for me dose a dose increase in fluoxetine (prozac) cause any side effects? I'm going from 20mg per day to 40mg tonight due to the fact i'm feeling the 20mg isn't working as good as it has done for me.

After quitting sertraline, all these went away, but the depression came back, so I tried Moclobemide, ending up with ever more severe side effects and more anxiety as well.

About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.

Hi I'm new to this forum. I just started the same meds on Sunday 7/3. Seems to have taken the edge off already, but I'm still feeling very anxious, nervous and am tired of my hands being all clammy. How long does it take to feel normal again? Starting some therapy next week...can't wait.

Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.

After about a week to 10 days the shaky side effects wore off for me and like you I went back to feeling down again. Now 3 weeks in my Doc upped my dose to 300mg, the 150mg was the starter dose. I just accepted the unpleasant effects (anxiety, lack of sleep, irritability) as my body getting used to a new med. beacuse I knew the positive out weighed the negative because WellB. does do wonders for my depression, i have started going back to the gym and feel more of a purpose in my day.

You can have start up side effects when starting a new med. This can include increased anxiety. The side effects usually get better in a few days. I hope your Dr does call you back. This med should be tapered with the help of your Dr. If he does'nt call by mid day give him a call.

You are on an SSRI medication and from personal experience (on Lexapro) I can tell you it can take a while for the medication to ramp up in your system and start showing therapeutic effects. Like you I went through some nasty side effects for about the first 2-3 weeks. To the point where I was about to throw in the towel but I can tell you now that I am SO GLAD I didn't because it is working and I feel much better.

Mirtazapine is a good antidepressant and anxiolytic, with few side effects. It doesn't have the SSRI side effects like nausea, headache, initially increased anxiety and GI problems. In fact, due to the pharmacological profile it actually counteracts these side effects from SSRIs, which is why the combination is fairly common. It's a strong sedative (from the antihistaminergic effects) and can give you an energy boost the next day (from the noradrenergic effects).

the safest brand for cats is by Thorne Research #12 veggie capsules, its the purest form and has no additives that are unsafe for cats, ie: soy, yeast and flavorings. the recommended dosage I have found is 1/4 capsule for 1 lb of food, which breaks down to 1/16 per 4oz feeding. you would need a 1/8 of a teaspoon measurement and fill only 1/2 full. I haven't heard of myasthenia gravis, but again follow your Vet's recommendations. I do hope kitties recover quickly.

ve been on fluoxetine for almost a year now. I stopped taking melatonin when I started it because I read a few articles that it might potentially interfere. I was jw if anyone here take the two, and what your doctors have said or side effects you've had. Thanks.

The cause is without a doubt the fluoxetine. Low doses would cause light problems and as soon as I stopped the problems completely went away. But then the doctor tripled the dose and then the problems became much more severe and permanent. I do think that my sex drive is low, even though I want to have sex and masturbate but when I try to do it I have problems with my erection.
