Avatar f tn t work as well after a while but that is usually long term. There are other options but the side effect of motor restlessness might occur among other anti-depressents. This would have more information on anti-depressents in general: http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.
1227049 tn?1267237385 There's probably no answer to this question, since nobody's researched the long-term effects of most medications. It sounds unlikely, though, and since you'll probably never find an answer, I'd just forget it and move on. You are who you are now. You can always see a doctor and get checked for all the things that affect growth, but I'd bet it all comes out normal. And there's no way to tell all the genetic influences on you just by looking at others in your family.
Avatar m tn Chemically, the fluoxetine hydrochloride (prozac is the original trademarked term but the patent's expired so it can be made generically) ought to be identical, regardless of its makers' labelling, colouring, packaging (as a tablet or capsule). Prozac has been generic for a very long time, there are several companies now making generic versions. Precisely which were your before and after brands of generic prozac (fluoxetine hydrochloride)?
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
Avatar m tn Dear whoever may know, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder 2 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking Lexapro at 10 mg per day ever since. The medicine has really seemed to have helped my life in all aspects. Whether it has really helped or if this is some kind of placebo effect, I am unsure. I still have moments of reasonable stress at work, but who doesn't...most importantly, I don't have panic attacks anymore.
Avatar n tn Another way to avoid withdrawal is to take fluoxetine (Prozac) for a few weeks after stopping Lexapro (or any other SSRI), then simply stopping the fluoxetine. The very long half-life of fluoxetine causes it to leave the body over a period of months, tapering so slowly that the person doesn't have any withdrawal. My recommendation at this point would be to go back on a low dose of Lexapro--maybe half of what you used to take.
Avatar n tn If you later find that you need an antianxiety med, talk to your doctor about diazepam or one of the other long term meds. Valerian root is safe to take with Prozac. The herbs you must avoid with this med are St.John's wort, which can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, and SAM-e. To avoid an anticholinergic effect, do not use corkwood or jimsonweed. To avoid an increase in CNS effects, avoid hops, kava and lavender.
Avatar f tn It can if it causes you to gain a lot of weight. As for long-term safety, that's impossible to answer. Some researchers say no, some say yes. Truth is, we don't really know, and it probably differs by the individual. But stress from anxiety and depression isn't safe either, so the question is, did you exhaust all non-medication treatments before going on medication and was your life so disrupted by your disorder that you needed medication.
Avatar f tn Yup, just before I noticed PATM. I've stopped taking it because I think I damaged my gut and now these out of this world bacteria are causing this. Hopefully in time it will reheal and I can be rid of this curse.
