Avatar f tn I've never had allergies of any kind. Then I noticed my nose was runny sometimes. Sneezing some. Nothing alarming. Then I woke up and was having trouble swallowing - felt like something was stuck in my throat. Doc said there was tons of drainage - the diagnosis: allergies. I started zyrtec and flonase, and got a HEPA air purifier. I've had that for about 2 weeks. Annnd now I've developed ear infections in BOTH ears due to the allergies, even taking all that and with the filter.
Avatar f tn I caved today and went to urgent care and Dr said I have a sinus infection and gave me a zpak and,Flonase. Worried that my baby is still safe. No major cramping just minor ones off and on but have had those before I was sick and Dr said that it is normal and no bleeding.i go to the ob on the 19th. Should I be worried?
3240655 tn?1346723677 I've had surgery to straighten a deviated septum(2011). I had the surgery because I complained about the lingering odor. Months later the sweet rotten smell returned. A recent CT scan revealed two normal sized cysts in my upper left sinuses. But I only was recommended Flonase. The ENT persuaded me from surgery to remove the cyst, because he didn't think it would help, in his experience. He also believed, my problems may be because of allergies.
Avatar m tn I woke up with ringing in my ears 1 1/2 weeks later. The ringing got louder as the sinus problems continued. Short of 3 sinus infections to date I really don't have too much to complain about with my sinuses. The tinnitus on the other hand is a big problem. The tinnitus ranges between the sound of a dog whistle, tea pot or the high pitched frequency an old tv or computer monitor produces. I do not have a sensor neural hearing loss based on the hearing test I had done at the ENT office.
1939607 tn?1324289300 yeast infections of the throat and sinus problems (also Flonase side-effects). Almost all mentioned taking Flonase or similar nasal sprays for the initial illness (cold or sinus infection). I believe that people start taking the flonase to help cold/flu/sinus infection, and then it gives us this traveling, achy sore in the Eustachian tubes. I often cough up these dry little patches after a cold, like tiny white scabs.
867954 tn?1356900863 I've had chronic sinus infections pretty much for years. I got a new doctor lately, who is a lot faster at seeing me, etc. Anyway, long story short lately I hear at times a thumping noise in my right ear mainly, it's only happened in the left a handful of times. When it happens in the right, it usually goes on for 24 hours at a time, obviously annoying enough to cause me some loss of sleep, aggravation, etc.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Thank you for your question. We are glad you are working with your doctor as that is your best source of medical help. As to swelling on the sides of your nose, our body can , certainly react in unusual ways, can't it. Here is an older question of a similar nature answered by a MedHelp doctor that I'm attaching for you to read. https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Family-Health/Odd-swelling-on-side-of-nose/show/228206. He suggests a sinus CT.
Avatar m tn Medical practice today even recognizes this and discourages routine use of antibiotics for ear and sinus infections, as they tend to go away on their own. You also may have dietary allergies -- the most common are dairy and wheat, so try cutting them out of your diet and see if the problem resolves. In the meantime, find a good naturopath or practitioner of integrated medicine and go to work on this in a way that might resolve it. Good luck.
479419 tn?1208127685 I'm 4 months pregnant and had a sinus infection and coughing almost 3 weeks ago. I've taken antibiotic for it and finished it according to the doctors recommendation. But it's been almost 2 weeks that I've finished my antibiotic and now my sinus infection had come back!! Anyone knows if this sinuswars.com works and how safe if it is? Also, I'm taking any recommendations. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I generally take Flonase. About a week ago the allergies and sinuses really got a hold of me and i had horrible sinus pressure, felt really spacey, had ear fullness and pain, felt a little off but no ear infection. I got put on a antibiotic. I then just started the Flonase back up. One day i felt short of breath off and on. I also took a Zyrtec. I almost went to the hospital because i felt bad and felt like my allergies/ sinuses were causing it. I also have anxiety.
Avatar f tn As a young child, I had constant ear infections. As an adult, I have 4-5, sometimes more, sinus infections each year and usually 1 episode of cold, flu, or bronchitis every other month. Antibiotics are usually not immediately successful and I often need to revisit the doctor for a second course of them. I am deathly allergic to benadryl, and have been put on every other un-related allergy medicine.
Avatar n tn I suffer from bad sinus, chronic sinusitis year round but this day I decided to go to the ER, the only looked at the symptoms which brought me there which was my headache and the pressure. They gave me flonase and saod to take sudafed. Its the fourth day and I can breath but I noticed on the back of my tongue red dots, like enlarged and the back of it looks dry. Its hard to swallow right now. I can breath fine just that everytime I breath, I can feel the back of my throat.
Avatar m tn Hi Saylor, As you've figured out, antibiotics aren't very effective for sinus infections. Google "CNN sinus infections" to see the study. What happen is the infected mucus becomes encapsulated, and the antibiotics, which travel by bloodstream, can't penetrate the capsule. The cure for that is to wash out the infected mucus with saline. I'd start with a Neilmed Sinus Rinse, available at any chain drugstore.
Avatar n tn s also good that your mucous runs clear. A sinus infection can be nasty and difficult to get rid of. For starters you would wake up in the mornings with horrific headaches, till some form of drainage relieves the pressure. Labyrinthitis is something I would not wish on anyone. It's a viral infection of the inner ear. What happens is that the inflamed inner ear sends confusing signals to the brain, and your balance will be so thrown off that you will think you are very drunk.
Avatar m tn This is after on and off sinus infections (or what I think are sinus infections) for months. Antibiotics (Augmentin) have done the trick in the past, but after 20 days my PCP sent me to a different ENT (saw one in April, had CAT scan, didn't show sinus infection) and he is now treating me for allergies with Flonase, Singulair and Claritin. But in the meantime I have this daily sinus pressure and it's very hard to get anything up (mucus) and out.
438513 tn?1215703374 Honestly, I had horrible sinus headaches and sinus infections for many years till I started taking digestive enzymes between meals. Just recently I realized that I could take systemic enzymes between meals instead. They are made specifically to help all body systems instead of digesting food. And they are much cheaper per pill. The brand I found is Flavenzyme. Seriously, this stuff really does work. Everyone around me is suffering with allergies....I am not having any symptoms at all.
Avatar f tn ve tried 3 different antibiotics for sinus infection. Also tried flonase, allegra, and Sudafed. Nothing seems to help. I feel pressure mostly in my forehead. I don't have any congestion with mucus or anything. I've had a sinus x-ray, CT scan, and MRI, which were all fine and showed nothing wrong with sinuses. I usually clean my ears out with a q tip after showering. I used to get some wax out, however, after this started, I can't get any wax out.
Avatar n tn Nasal rinsing using a neti pot or neil med sinus rinse may also help flush out anything that is in your sinuses and there is a much lower risk of bleeding since there is no medication, it's just pure saline.
Avatar n tn I have problems with CHRONIC sinusitis and sinus infections. My face feels like it is going to explode from pressure, my nose constantly runs, my throad gets sore a lot, and my ears hurt. I had surgery two years ago to remove tissue from my nose to enlarge my sinuses and it did help...but now I am back to square one. I take Zyrtec, Flonase and anything else to help, also have been on COUNTLESS antibiotics. I also have asthma and it is making it flare up.
Avatar n tn I've had such a tough time with sinus headaches, allergies (watery eyes, plugged ears and tinnitus) and fatigue that I finally went to an ear-nost-throat doctor last week. He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on.
Avatar f tn You can try posting in the alt.support.sinusitis group over on google. They have a lot of info on fungal sinus infections and treatments.

Avatar n tn The most likely triggers for acute urticaria are allergies to pets, horses, latex and foods, such as shellfish and nuts, bee or wasp stings, allergies to medicines,Viral infections, such as glandular fever and herpes, dental and sinus infections, fungal infections, blood transfusions and vaccines. The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify.
Avatar f tn Pred helped briefly, but after weens off, pressure builds up again. Tried sinus irrigations daily, allergy meds ( singulair, claritin, flonase, nasonex, allegra). He does not think this is allergy-related (he never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, ect. Hx of exercised-induced asthma (no asthma problems otherwise). No sig. med hx. Alt. approaches tried(no help) He's left the state to deduct any environmental allergies/causes.
Avatar m tn I know that many cold remedies have Phenedrine and/or other stimlulants and I am wondering if any Afib patients out there take Nasonex or Flonase wihtout any problems.
