Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is
a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
I have been on this medicine (together with a double dose of Flomax) for the past two years. I have noticed a definite improvement in urinary symptoms (fewer trips to the bathroom, better flow), but it has wreaked havoc with my sex life (no erections, no ejaculation). I would like to quit, but am afraid that the effects of quitting might be worse than the ones I am currently experiencing.
I am 69 years old.
Update. Had a cystoscopy/cystography done yesterday, with a machine that did not record the results, but ony view. I viewed the display too. The Dr said my prostate is enormous, and there's no way I'd be able to urinate without surgery. I tried to urinate on my own for a few hours after that procedure, after my catheter was removed, and while I could at first, later I couldn't.
Does taking Finasteride 1mg for long term for treating male pattern baldness , have any effects on baby.I've stopped Finasteride for over 1 yr after taking it for more than a yr.If i get married and plan to have a baby , will there be any genetic health problems in the new born.
Then, even though the BPH questionnaire showed me to be nowhere near having it, the urologist wrote me a prescription for Finasteride. I have searched all over the web and several medical and medication reference books at the library and can find not a single place where it says that Finasteride has anything to do with the problem of blood in the semen. All I have read points to Finasteride lessening the symptoms of BPH, symptoms I do not have.
Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
, where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!

Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms.
Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate.

He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.

02 or less for 8 years and then began to slowly rise. At .03 PSA in 2011 my Urologist prescribed Finasteride to stop the conversion of dihydrotestosteone and the PSA dropped to .02 and remained there for several years. On a later visit to the urologist I commented on this drug to control my PSA and he vehemently denied it was for PSA control but said it was prescribed for urinary issues. That was not true-I had never complained to him about urinary issues.
I have been using finesteride instead of flomax for the last 4 month.
