Flomax time to work

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax time to work

Avatar f tn In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
Avatar m tn The Urologist thinks I’ll need surgery if this next removal doesn’t work. But this doesn’t make sense to me, as it seems the Flomax has increased the urethra passageway such that I “leak” outside the catheter. The last time the catheter was removed, I started urinating while sitting. I was very glad to be able to do that. It started at 25, then 50, then up to 100cc. So the next time I felt the urge, I decided to stand to urinate rather than sit, and that’s when the problems started.
233622 tn?1279338505 Now I will say that it DOES make me feel like I have to GO but I really do have to go! It helps me empty completely with no struggle or pain. I hope others might give it a try. The only way my insurance would pay since I am a woman is if I was diagnosed with MS. They were very specific about that. Since I am diagnosed it was not an issue. Maybe try it again and give it some time. About a month I'd say.
Avatar m tn Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar n tn I went to the urologist and he prescribed me Urecholine and Flomax as well. *I forgot to mention I was taking sudafed, becaues I didn't think it was relevant.* I wasn't retaining any urine- when I did empty it was complete- but I had a heck of a time starting anything- it took 15, 20 minutes. He prescribed the meds to help. So, that night, I went home, and experienced the most acute urinary hesitancy I had ever had.
Avatar f tn And, if so, has anyone had the same experiences that I previously explained? Finally, does the body seem to adapt to Flomax, and return to semen production (without abdominal pain after orgasm)? I apoogize if my language seems quite blunt, but I'm extremely concerned (especially the abdominal pain after, even though short-lived). I will be presenting the same questions to my neurologist the next time I see him, but that won't be for 6 weeks. I will appreciate any and all responses.
Avatar n tn It's now been 72 hrs since any pain so I've only been taking the Flomax and drinking plenty of water w/ lemon. I'm anxious to get back to work and I feel fine right now, but I have a job where I can't afford to have a pain episode while on the job (driving a bus). Is there anything I can do (jumping jacks/jogging) to help speed up the process? And is it better to pee every time I feel the urge, or wait until I can't hold it any more? Thx.
1616953 tn?1443839111 I'm not keen on any medical costs right now. I'm on a payment plan for surgery (Twice) on my feet. My BPH is getting worse and I'm pondering asking about TURP surgery. I took Flomax for 3+ years and other then a dose increase it all went ok until a little while ago.
Avatar m tn I do ride a bicycle a lot and sometimes that can be painful for my genitals as I am quite well endowed, especially if I hit bumps, could this have anything to do with it? It is so bad that I have to stop and pee on the way to work sometimes. I have even had to get a pee bottle in case I can't get up quick enough in the night.
Avatar n tn By the way I am a male, 56 years old and work out 4 times per week on a treadmill (30 minutes per time).
Avatar n tn So I went back to the doctors, this time a different doc, and he said I did have an enlarged prostate, so he prescribed me another antibiotic, and this time flomax. After the first couple of days it seemed to be getting better. So I thought it would work, but it was slowly getting worse and worse. Then Sunday, it was back at its worst again. Constantly feeling like I have to go to the bathroom. I'm in such discomfort trying to fall asleep, it takes me a couple hours!!
Avatar f tn This constant urge and fear of having a urine leakage accident had gotten to the point where I was scared to leave my house except to go to work and maybe a quick sprint through the grocery store (which luckily I drive right past on my way to and from work) to pick up essentials. Even at work I am constantly running to the bathroom approximately every hour for fear I will not be able to hold my urine and suffer an accident.
Avatar f tn pain pills do not help and he is on a soup and jello diet right now to make his kidneys work less. He is getting more blood work done today (mainly to see if his renal nbrs are continuing to drop) and he has an appt with the Mayo Clinic in January, but they have an ER and he may go there pretty soon.
Avatar f tn In August of 2007 the tips of my 2 big toes went numb (sorta like when you get novacaine and you can feel when you touch it, but it feels "funny"). At first I ignored it, but after a few days I went to my internal medicine doctor who said she had no idea what would cause it, but if it wasn't causing me great grief, just let it go. Then in October, I began having some bladder issues. It started out just feeling like I had to urinate all the time...
Avatar f tn Each new symptom added another few hundred dollars to the imaginary doctor’s bill in my head, which meant that as things got worse, I had more incentive to pretend that I had some sort of temporary bug that would eventually go away. Then one day, I got up to go to work— at the time, I had a part-time job copyediting product labels and PowerPoint presentations—but I couldn’t make it out the door.
Avatar m tn He did put me on a medication to help that but it didn't do much. Then the second time he wanted to rule out the prostatitis and he said it wasn't that so he treated it as overactive bladder and gave me another med which also wasn't much help. I'm going to ask him about the pelvic floor thing. In the last month I only ejacluated twice and through normal avg time sex. I eliminated masturbation. Do you think reverse kegals would help? I will try the knees over the hips thing.
Avatar m tn Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar m tn I have not had a solid stone since the time I had mine surgically removed, but do get a lot of sediment in the urine and feel unwell with urinary infections from time to time. At this moment in time I am OK, but do know I have a small cyst in the kidney. It does hurt occasionally probably when I have an infection. What is pound water? Do you mean drink a lot? (I do) Thanks for the tips. Best wishes.
1530342 tn?1405020090 I think the cash and food stamp assistant part of welfare should be eliminated or even just set to a specific time frame and stick to it. (let's say 6months to get yourself together cus things do happen out of our control.) Everyone should qualify for child care (No matter what their income is) if we all get child care and health care provided, people could would and not worry about 75% of their checks going to pay for medical and daycare..
Avatar n tn I was in tears by the time I got to Traige...fortunaley the nurse knew exactly what my pain was...and after a CT they confirmed a 4mm kidney stone in my ureter...as well as a few more in each kidney ranging from 3mm-4mm..basically they gave me pain medication and flowmax and told me to follow up with a urologist...since I have been home I have passed what i thought was a boulder and three other smaller ones...in the last 6 hours...

Avatar m tn 5 g zithromax to be taken over 4 days. During this time the burning sensation in my penis started to diminish. Next, I was diagnosed with pnuemonia, and was give a weeks work of Avelox. The day I noticed the bronchitis my prostate started to feel swollen and irritated. having had prostatitis in the past I recognized these symptoms as prostatitis. I when to my dr and he did a urinalysis, and found no 'pus' his words, I assumed that meant no white blood cells indicating infection.
359389 tn?1289793384 Referred to a urologist i underwent antiobiotic and flomax therapy. After 10 days, the reading fell to 3.4. Not low enough. After another month, it came down to 2.9. Because I am 48, my doctor wanted to do a biopspy. He would have preferred my PSA to be less than 2.5. The biopsy confirmed cancer. The only indication I had cancer was an elevated PSA and biopsy. Early detection is the key--I had no symptoms and the DRE was normal.
284078 tn?1282620298 ) Her ocular pressure was actually only slightly elevated and with cessation of the Topamax, her pressure returned to normal in a day, while it took over a week for her vison to return to normal. It was extremely impressive the way the lens moved forward initially. After a week, the lens moved back to normal position and the eye looked completely different as if from another person. It was really something I will never forget.
Avatar m tn I have a discomfort on my pelvis, no back pain, no joint pain only burning on urethra after urination. That happens when I drink a lot of water on short time and I need to go to washroom more often. Over night going out one time and not on every night. Starting with 2005, the specialist put me on Flomax which helped to remove the symptoms on the beginning but on 2007 the doctor said to take one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Avatar n tn The flowmax isn't just going to magically make you pee... you need to give it liquids TO pee. Good luck to you. LMNO *Get your doctor to do a urinalysis and check for infection. Not being able to pee, or only 'drops' coming out is a clear sign of infection, at the very least.
Avatar m tn soo i got rushed to the hospital cause i was litterly going to pee myself crazy, soo for the 3rd time i got a rectal examination(this is getting overwhelming now) and the doctor gave me 2 sulfas and a tamusolin to go home with and a prescription for the same meds as before saying that they probably didnt finish working yet.its really bothering me...i cant live like this, its driving me insane, like i got asked all the usual questions and i guess they dont know what to do or something.
Avatar n tn Although physicians can prescribe it for other reasons if they think that it may work like to relax the muscles in the urethra. For Flomax to work you have to take it daily for 14-30 days before you see any effect. As for the stones, they should be able to analyze the stone to see what the make up is of it. Urine cultures should be done to rule out any infection if one hasn't been done.
Avatar n tn I'm a 38yo male, had to have a BNI op 3 weeks ago to cure a restricited bladder neck, had been prescribed flomax but this didnt alleviate the problem. Since the Op, I've kept up a daily fluid intake of approx.
Avatar m tn This already happened 5 years ago. This time they diagnosed me a Bladder Neck Sclerosis and suggested me to try Alpha Blockers and should they not work after the follow up - in 6 weeks, they reccomend a chirurgical operation. After 1 week of treatment with Alpha blockers I have noticed more stimulus to urinate but no difference in flow. How effective are Alpha blockers? Should I feel a variation in flow? After how much time? Should I try other alpha blockers if these ones do not work?
