Avatar m tn I think flomax is bad it causes tiredness. maybe it causes permanent exhaustion and muscle weakness?
233622 tn?1279334905 My urogynecologist had me try flomax, but unfortunately after a month it was apparent it was only making my urgency worse. I am troubled by retention and urgency. Funny - they had to really work with our insurance to get this filled because I also don't have a prostate and its use in women is definitely off-label. Be sure and visit their website and signup for their promotions. I just got another $20 off coupon in my email the other day. Glad it works for you!
Avatar f tn Really, though, virtually every MS issue mostly occurs in women, or happens to women, because women MSers outnumber men by nearly 3 to 11.
Avatar n tn Does anyone here have detrusor sphincter dyssynergia or urinary retention and if so how are you treating it?
Avatar n tn He may not have been emptying his bladder even with the flomax and he may have developed further urinary retention. If he has taken any decongestants or antihistamines, they may have worked against the drug and, again, resulted in further emptying difficulties. Call the urologist to discuss it. He probably will need to be seen. S.A.Liroff, M.D. "This information is provided for general medical educational purposes only.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
Avatar n tn Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
Avatar f tn My doc has scheduled another cystoscopy with bladder wash. I researched this and found that what he's looking for is possible bladder cancer. I have a h/o urine retention w/hypotonic bladder, neurogenic bladder, and had an interstim implant in March. F/up appt in June (3mos) went well, no problems, despite his comment that "if its not broken, don't fix it" with regard to keeping me on Flomax. Yet, a mere 2.
Avatar m tn I would suggest that you get a DRE for the prostrate, cystoscopy and voiding cysto urethrogram. Flomax is used in the treatment of BPH, so it must probably has been prescribed for that cause. Also discuss with your urologist regarding options of treatment for BPH. If conservative measures fail, surgical treatment with TURP will help. Best.
Avatar m tn ve had no fever or swelling of lymph nodes but do feel a sore throat often. (Anxiety?) as for the urinary retention issue... It started about a week and a half ago as it was hard to pee, then got a little better a few days later but still had to push but flow was better. Now it's back where it's very difficult to pee on my own and even when I push. Can't afford the ER. What to do?
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar f tn That is if there is more than 200+ cc left in the bladder after you void. If you do have this problem (also called urinary retention), you should have bladder testing to determine why you are in retention; is it because your bladder muscle is refusing to contract to squeeze out the urine? or is it because your bladder outlet muscle is not relaxing to let the urine out?
Avatar f tn Has antone had a cysto done for urinary retention? I had a uti 3 weeks ago (which has since healed) but ever since I've had retention anywhere from 50-200cc post void. the urologist suggested a cysto I'm concerned that the irritation from surgery would make things worse. Does anyone have any insight?
Avatar m tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include medication side effect, psychological issues such as anxiety, autonomic or hormonal/ endocrine imbalance, neuro-muscular issues etc. There is no specific time limit before urinary retention becomes an emergency; it usually depends on the amount of urine and more commonly on the severity of symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hi, my wife have a difficulty in urinating (Urinary retention). This happens only when she doesn't drink enough water especially during weekend or any off schedules days. She also experience the pain in the back where kidneys are located.Once she starts drinking water, problem resolves in couple of hours. I want to know that how serious is this a problem ? What is the reason and treatments ? Thank you !
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar n tn ve been reading more about this disease, and by a strange coincidence the coordinating center for the big national studies of chronic pelvic pain (including prostatitis) is in my department, right down the hall from my office. Based on their work, there is some reason to believe that, except in those cases where there is an obvious infection (with fever, discharge, etc. that I never had), prostatitis is not an infectious disease at all.
Avatar f tn enlarged prostate regardless of biopsy outcome. Flomax does not seem to be making an improvement in frequency of urination--does this have an indication that cancer is more likely? In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
Avatar m tn ), and a constant urge to urinate (I am drinking more than 2 liters of water daily to try flush the stone). The pressure comes and goes, fluctuating in severity (like in a urinary tract Infection), and is alleviated by sitting in a warm tub. There is no pain in urination. I use a strainer, and thus far – no stone. Could the stone have passed? If not, what should I do to expedite passage?
