Flomax and frequent urination

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax and frequent urination

flomax

Avatar f tn I'm 33 year old male, I was diagnosed with phimosis 2yrs ago. I've been having the constant urge to urinate but with only a low flow and sometimes spraying. I've been through testing for uti, std, bladder cancer (cystoscopy) but yet know one can give me an answer as to why I always have the urge. I've taken meds (flomax, oxybutynin, and diptromin) none of them worked. Help!!! I'm to young for this to be happening.
Avatar n tn My Uro Dynamic Test Doctor wrote a letter to my Urologist detailing my condition as very obstructed and that medicine would not help. I tried flomax and of course it didn't help. My last visit to the Urolgist he stated that I had 2 options, to live with the codition or to have a scraping which I deduced to mean a Turp. I believe this operation has to many side effects an might help my condition signifcantly to warrant the risk.
Avatar f tn Yes, when I have a stone or stones, I'll have a much more frequent urge to urinate than when I don't have a stone. I've also experienced a very slight burning sensation at times with a stone too. Are you on anything like Flomax? I've noticed a more frequent urge since I've been taking Flomax too. Not sure if that's the Flomax, or just my age coming into play.LOL!
Avatar n tn Also I was taking some over the counter medication for frequent urination problems when I took the Chlamydia and Ghonorea test, would this affect the test?
Avatar m tn Now it is even worse, it goes away for about three hours of taking the pill and is worse than before. When I say frequent I mean frequent, once a hour for 3-5 hours, if I don't get to the bathroom in time I wet myself. this has been going on daily for three weeks, it's getting old. This has driven my problem through the roof! Please help? Give me some advice that I can use? I use the restroom about 1 an hour from about 4pm until I wake up in the morning about 7-8 am.
Avatar n tn I have been on a cather off and on for about 3 to 4 weeks now also I have been on flomax for a week. I have problems urinateing on my own sense surgery. I go to my urologist he takes out cather try to urinate but can't. My question is am I to anxious?
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
Avatar m tn I had much more control with my urination and was only getting up to urinate during the night once, if at all. I continued to have the retrograde ejaculation, which I expected, based on what my urologist had told me. At first, after my surgery, my orgasms were not as pleasurable as they used to be, but that improved over time as I continued to heal.
Avatar m tn Good afternoon. I'll try to make this brief. In Nov'15 I had a bout w/frequent urination and was prescribed Levaquin & phenazopyridine. The very next day I broke out in hives/rashes/welts all over my body (neck, waistline, back, arms, wrists, legs, ankles). I went back to the dr a few days later and was prescribed Bactrim & Flomax. The frequent urination went away but the rashes have persisted and are recurring.

Avatar m tn As much as I would enjoy a fairly normal sex life again, I can assure you that I would much rather do without sex and have any chance of normal urination again. Most likely neither one is possible for me. If the drugs help with urination, I would remain on them and gladly take the side effects of sexual dysfunction. Currently I will have to decide whether I will remain with the suprapubic catheter or will have a surgery to alter the flow of urine.
Avatar m tn Initial symptoms were painful urination, frequent, and difficulty going. STDs test were negative for HIV, Ghonneria, and chlamydia. Doctor gave me doxycyclene without improvement and then gave me Azithromycin. After this the frequency and difficulty going went away. I still have the pain at the tip or penis whole. No rash or visible sores at any point on my genitals or bloody urine. Problem started after unprotected sex with a semi frequent partner roughly 8 weeks ago.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have a UTI or a bladder infection. Flowmax should work within a couple/few hours, although it varies. You need to drink a TON of liquids (caffeine free) and flush your system. The flowmax isn't just going to magically make you pee... you need to give it liquids TO pee. Good luck to you. LMNO *Get your doctor to do a urinalysis and check for infection. Not being able to pee, or only 'drops' coming out is a clear sign of infection, at the very least.
Avatar m tn Hi I am a 42 year old male w prostatitis and BPH history My main symptom is Frequent urination and my prostrate area feels hot. My behind prostrate area is tingly at times then I have to pee a lot I have to pee every 45 minutes. Very aggravating. I have an enlarged prostrate. I just was on bactrim DS for 6 weeks for Prostatitis cause of pandemic they could not see me. My urine is always clean. I was given flomax but refuse to take it because of ejaculate going backwards and might faint.
Avatar f tn He ordered the RPR and gave me Flomax to lesson the frequent urination and anaprox for the swelling...I know he's gonna come back and tell me I have Syphilis. Here's a good question...if he tells me I have it and I test negative for the FTA-ABS can I tell him to go jump in the lake?
Avatar m tn i have weak and frequent urination and testicals are red ache and go inside me.painful ejaculation including rectum could not for 1 month(dry).swelled epydidimitis.light colored with blood in stool.and lots of symtoms some for years just got worse like somach pain headache and neck, swollen lymph notes and prostate racing heart very tired bad arthritis rash on cheeks/nose dizzy senstive ears and alot more.
Avatar m tn Two years ago I did a Cystoscopy and last year flow measurement test (Not Urodynamics) and blood test for any cancer and prostate issues. They found nothing. Again I went to a different doctor thinking to find the cause of this last week. He wanted me to do the Cystoscopy again and UroDynatics test. My question is is it necessary to perform a cystoscopy again since they did not find any issues when performed last. This test makes me nervous since I suffer for months after this.
Avatar f tn They did put me on Flomax which helped me urinate more often and took the pain and difficulty in urinating away. I had been on Flomax since a hospitalization in January of 2007, but in the summer, my nephrologist took me off the medication. You know, it can be really confusing when you see so many doctors and they don't always agree with a plan of action. We'll see the urologist in 2 weeks and see what he says now. Thanks for the post.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but urge of frequent urination can be due to increased intake of fluids or diabetes mellitus.Other possibilities are glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism and diuretic drugs.
Avatar n tn In general, the decision to initiate medication for the enlarged prostate (BPH) is guided by the severity of their symptoms consistent with an enlarged prostate such as frequent urination, difficulty initiating urination, weak stream, and frequent nighttime urination. Often these are evaluated by a patient’s response to a standardized set of questions that help to establish a threshold of symptoms that warrant treatment with medication.
Avatar m tn Prior to getting the fistula, I have been using intermittant self catherization due to a neurogenic bladder. The urologist had me using Flomax so that normal urination would be easier. Eventhough I had to self cath the Flomax made a difference during normal urination. As for dyscomfort from the prostate, I don't know what you can do. I'm on morphine to control pain from the pubic regeon as well as for neuropathic pain.
Avatar m tn but not that much pain and then a few hours later I can be in much pain as its been irritated. I am currently taking the flomax now and a once a day anti inflammitory. I should mention I am only 34 and before this, healthy too. Some forums have reccomended something called 'PEENUTS' Have you ever heard of this? Or am I being taken for a ride? They claim that it has fantastic success for people in my position. http://www.peenuts.
Avatar f tn Back on June 11th I felt like I needed to pee all the time, no burning or hurting, but a frequent need to pee so I started taking azo pills for a few days and felt better within 2 days and for the next 2 days I felt great then my husband and I had sex and a few hours later we went to Lowes to shop and all of a sudden I felt like I needed to pee again so I went to the bathroom and I couldn't go and for the next 15 to 20 minutes I went to the bathroom a few more times and just could not go har
Avatar n tn m sitting down, and usually if I get up and walk around I feel better. I went to the doctor about a week ago and had some blood work done. All of the results for STDs, and a UTI came back negative. I'm currently taking Cipro but it doesn't seem to help. My physician said that it might be "nospecific urethritis" and would prescribe Doxycycline. From what I have read about post void drip, there doesn't seem to be any resolution. Has anybody had success with this problem?
