Flexeril vs baclofen

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril vs baclofen

flexeril

Avatar n tn having to be on and stay on a med to control spasms, i.e., baclofen vs. something I could take from time-to-time, he wanted me on the baclofen, said he wanted to get out ahead of the issue. Hope this helps. "Welcome" by the way, I don't think we've met.
Avatar f tn After a few years on Flexeril I was recently switched to Baclofen. It seems like Bacofen is the go-to drug for MS related spasicity. The wanted me to start out on 1/2 does for 7 days and go to the full dose after that. I made it three days on the 1/2 dose and couldn't take it anymore. Since it takes a while to get to therapeutic levels I was kept awake all night with TERRIBLE spasms, worse than usual, I had muscle weakness and I was puking my brains out.
751951 tn?1406632863 d rather give up the benefit I sensed from the Flexeril, vs. that from the Amantadine. If I drop both, I might never have a clue which to avoid in the future, right? Plus, I'd likely be back to feeling as crummy as I felt six weeks ago. Does this make sense? After the past 36 hours, I'm a little less comfortable with my own thought process. What do y'all think?
149087 tn?1258453820 I take Zanaflex which is much like the drug Baclofen. Zanaflex produces more drowsiness and sedation than baclofen. Are you taking it as a muscle relaxer?
Avatar f tn You are right, certain medications particularly muscle relaxants and antichlinergics, interfere with the results of EMG like baclofen and flexeril or cyclobenzaprine that you are taking. It would be prudent to apprise your neurologist of all the medications you are on, so that the EMG results are appreciated in that light. Muscle biopsy can be taken up after an EMG. Consult your neurologist for his preferences and expertise. Take care.
Avatar m tn there is flexeril but that didnt realy work for me, zanaflex however worked really good.
1168718 tn?1464983535 thanks guys, I think I will hold off on the Baclofen, and stick my Flexeril as it does seem to help, though not entirely, but it doesn't have the side effects for me ..... Hope you are all having a bright, sunny day..
Avatar f tn Can flexeril 10mg 3x and/or baclofen 20mg 4x cause a person to have a hoarse voice?
1168718 tn?1464983535 I have been having so many nights with spasms and jerking of my legs. We have tried many things, like Baclofen, Flexeril, and Gabapentin. Now, we are on 3000 mg. of Gabapentin, and my physiacrist decided to try Valium at 5mg, first week going to 10 mg. the next week, at night time. I was told that in NO WAY can I take the Baclofen, ( warning on bottle), or the flexeril and no grapefruit juice or grapefruit.
460948 tn?1232302122 old woman who is taking Baclofen and have been for over a year now. I have serious back problems and was taking Flexeril for muscle pain and muscle spasms.. My doctor changed it to Baclofen because I have become immune to the Flexeril after taking it for so long. Baclofen is a muscle relaxant and is used for muscle pain and spasms.. I have never heard about using it for your kidneys..I will tell you though that you need to adress these questions to your own doctor..
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently suggested that I strongly consider the intrathecal baclofen pump to help control my constant (over 2 years) daily muscle pain. I am just beginning to research this possibility, I currently take the oral baclofen. Any opinions, or any one out there who has one of these and can give me first hand feed back. Thanks!
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi again has anyone tried Flexeril (muscle relaxant)? Any bad side effects and did it help pain , I have I guess myofascial pain. Any trouble with withdrawal gettnig off of it?
1168718 tn?1464983535 Baclofen is for spasticity, not muscle spasms. There is a difference. Baclofen doesn't effect the muscle, but it effects the spinal and supraspinal nervous system signals that are sent to the muscle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baclofen Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) is a muscle relaxant medication used to relieve skeletal muscle spasms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexeril So I'd say he is half correct. The question is: Are you having muscle spasms or spasticity?
Avatar f tn So I got a call back from my Neuro's office this morning and I am realizing that I always tend to leave her office feeling either irritated or confused and I didn't feel any different after that phone call. She said to back off on my Neurontin because of the muscle weakness. I asked "but then what I am supposed to do about the nerve pain?
Avatar f tn I have spasms in the left trapezius muscle of my back. Flexeril seems to keep it manageable.
Avatar f tn I have Ben having spasms every hour to two hours at night. I started taking a 12 week course of vitamin d. I have Dystonia which I take Baclofen for at night. I am hoping for some sleep soon.
Avatar f tn Even on just about the max of Baclofen, sometimes it feels like my body is trying to dis-member itself - hamstrings, pelvic floor, etc. I feel your pain. I hope the COBRA kicks in soon so you can get your meds!
1478560 tn?1314628853 Anyway, i always had muscle spams. Nothing i couldnt handle. I was given pills (flexeril 10 mg) and they used to work. But lately...no matter what i take the pain is overwelming. I cant even walk! idk if my mind is playing tricks on me. If im making it worse than it really is. Dont take me wrong, i believe i can take the pain (hey i had 3 kids...yeah i can take pain LOL) but i dont think this is right. Basically...what can i take or do to prevent or ease the pain.
Avatar f tn Went to John Hopkins Univ. to see a specialist, i have tried most antispasmatic drugs, baclofen, zanaflex, flexeril, etc... None of these seem to work. I have only the one lesion across both widths of cord. I was told there is no active inflammation, therefore normal treatments like steroids which i tried to no effect, questioned the Dr. about Plasma therapy, was told would not help because of no active inflammation.
