flexeril for leg cramps

Leg cramps can be very painful. Mine sometimes feel like they are tied up in knots. Have you tried stretching them really good? I have a back injury so this is how they showed me to do it. First you pull your stomache in and round out your back. Then bend at the knees and put one leg straight out in front of you. Put both your hands on the leg out, just above the knee. Now bend down further and you will start to feel the stretch all the way down your leg and in your butt.

So I have been awake since 145 (10 hours now) this morning due to leg cramps which started last night that were so persistant nothing would take them away.. Long story short after taking baths, using a heating pad, massaging, whining, taking tylonol and stretching with nothing even touch the pain I ended up in ER for a leg ultrasound to rule out blood clot and blood work to be sure calcium and potassium were ok.

I just live with it and appreciate the moments not cramped -- I get the feet/toe, leg and hand cramps like when you cramp from swimming. Motrin OTC helps some but honestly not enough to bother taking it. I really had no idea what coming off a ton of meds would be like -- wish I had some clue. Hydro is viocodin or percocets (?) - it should be fairly manageable. I would probably taper over a week and then go CT but that is ME.

In my personal experience, muscle relaxants are not very effective for acute leg cramps or rls -- they are much more effective for sustained muscle tension, spasm and limitation of movement. It depnds on the cause of the leg cramps, but most often mineral supplements are the most effective - calcium, magnesium and potassium. A banana (potassium source) at bedtime can work wonders! RLS (restless leg syndrome) is a different matter.

My 8+years old bull mastiff was doing fine until yesterday afternoon when he started limping and dragging his left rear leg. His spine looked crooked. It was worse today, so I doubled his meloxicam. Would it be okay to give him 5 milligrams of flexeril? He is 90 lbs. Last examined June 13 by vet.

Then pm dr lowered percocet and gabapentin dosages to less than half of what I had been on for 3 months..there went the withdrawal again...the leg cramps in left leg(nerve damage from spinal cyst has left me with no feeling in left leg,but have restless leg,stabbing hot pain in my left foot) all started 10fold..pm dr then upped gabapentin back to original post op dose and fentanyl 25 mcg every 3 days. I am thinking I am going to be in hell withdrawing.

I have severe back pain to the point I wake up sleeping on my back because I esentially get 'stuck' it feels like its out of joint at times. Also severe leg cramps most of the time I can't sit stand or lay without discomfort to the point I have trouble sleeping at all. Is flexeril harmful to my baby at 29 weeks?? I was thinking of taking a half pill. Not for regular use, just in extreme pain.

I used to discribe the siatic pain as if someone took a rubberband and was pulling it as tight as possible then connecting it to an electrical current. I know what you are talking with the leg cramps..awful. I am glad to hear the stretching and strengthening excercises are working for you. If the leg cramps keep up,discuss it with your dr,he can give you something for muscle spasms which helps...my dr gave me flexeril.

) Willy you are right I should stop all but so scared of the leg cramps, I have 2 young children and when those creepy crawly leg cramps happen I loose it so confused don't know what to do, but all your advice has been so great I am going to use it and CONGRATS!!! on day 91!!!

Called the neurologist early this week because my right leg has been really weak for several days now - and the left leg seems to be getting worse too. Woke up this morning and one of my old symptoms was back - my left foot feels like somebody's been beating on the bottom of it with a baseball bat. Hurts to walk on it, and my right leg is weak, so it's double trouble! I'm pretty sure the pain is spasticity.

You will feel normal! No on the flexeril for WD. It could even end up making you feel worse. It definitely won't help right now. I took it once on about day 2 or 3, and it made me more restless than I already was. Good luck!

I am still in limbo land but my neurologist didn't answer my question at my last appointment about my muscle spasms (even though I'm mid-testing I feel like I'm going to change, he doesn't listen or answer my questions well). Anyways. It's all so confusing and I would like to understand a little bit more. The ones I'm specifically asking about are the big thigh muscles on the front of my legs and my groin muscles.

Ive been having alot of pain in my left leg and went to the dr she gave me flexeril and she said it was safe just to take as needed I hate taking anything especially since im pregnant. I dont drink smoke or eat high fat or sugary food this is a big change for me.back to flexeril has anyone else taken this for sciatica while pregnant? The pain unbearable and pain makes my sugar go up since I am a type 2 diabetic. Im worried it will cause problems.

Leg cramps are a very common symptom of pregnancy I'm 30 weeks with my second boy and I have had them all the way through both pregnancys

After the surgery, the pain lifted but it took many months for partial recovery of the leg, and to develop the muscles to control the bladder and bowel. I've worked very hard to re-establish movement and control over these areas. My recovery was hindered by the development of two (as the Dr. describes them massive) DVTs - one located in the popliteal - the other in the ilea-femoral. With this unfortunate life-threatening development, physical therapy had to be delayed.

two days after second injection my left leg foot and ankle swelled up two inches bigger then right side for whole month of April.i was told it didn't swell from injections. I was told have patella alta in left leg.well now its Nov and everything that happened on left is now on right side. Tingling numbness extreme pain.i have multilevel diffuse bulging and herniated disks i lumber.i have type2 diabetes.xray of right foot showed suspect charcot joint changes.

I have been able to sleep without any muscle relaxers for the last 3 nights. only feeling an occassional slight muscle twitch in my leg. I thought it would never end but it did! I've been able to sleep 9-10 hours a night for 3 days. I'm still very tired tho for some reason, I suppose after the hell of a year of treatment for hep-c, and 2 months detoxing off hydro, being tired is "normal". To those of you going thru it, hang on, it will get better.

I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!

Wow, I'm out of action for at least 16 hours after just one Flexeril! And for the entire next day I'm a space cadet.

Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?

My back is really bothering me!! Hurts so bad and can't relax for anything!! I'm 35 weeks and really want to! Has anyone taken a muscle relaxer or even a half of one?

Thanks for responding.Yes I take alot of meds.I've been on the meds for years so I don't think its from that but although my Rheumy did take me off of Methotrexate .I'm not sure if that would cause all the pain or not.Here's my meds: Hydroxychloriquine 200mgs x 2 Nabumetone 750mgs x2 Folic acid 1mgs Amlidipine 5mgs Prednisone 7mgs.

Try emergen-c and lots of water! Make sure u stretch too...I have had all these u guys have listed plus bad sciatica after a back surgery last year and stretching and lots of water helps!
