I had an ER doctor and my OB GYN prescribe this for me while I was pregnant with twins for back pain & abdomen/uterian pain to help get relief and rest from my body having to quickly stretch for 2 babies instead of slowly like normal with one. But always check with your doctor to see if they personally recommend this prescription or something else as all doctors are different.
I tried a heating pad, it seem s to work for a bit, but the pain remains, took methocarbamol(a muscle relaxer) w/o results and now I'm taking flexeril, another muscle relaxer, but for skeletal muscles, without results too.
Has anyone experience this? Is it common to have this after 16 days? Please, any help or advise will be appreciated. Thank you.
I, by the way, am a 55 year old female with no other medical problems other than high blood pressure, for which I am on medication for. I did take Caduet, a drug with blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication combined, for many years, but I stopped taking any cholesterol medication about two years ago because of all the warnings of muscle/liver damage side effects.
Maybe switch over to Aleve or Tylenol for your muscle pain. I feel for you...that has to be awful.
About the SAD...this is something that would cause a change in your mood, but not likely to have anything to do with chest pain. Sometimes I believe docs. try to explain away things by convincing us it's something else (so they will have an answer to give). Just like they continue to relate FMS/CFS to psychological issues.

if I so much as point my toes my toes would get sevear cramps!! I wake up with cramps in my legs but its the toes ones that I cant handle.. they last for so long and the only thing that helps is heat
So much so that when I was in Sainsbury's the other day the toe cramps started and I ended up putting a hot chicken on my foot in the car just so i could drive home!!! how rediculous is that! but it helped!
If anyone can think of anything to add I would GREATLY appreciate it!!!
1. Flexeril 10mg. (muscle relaxer and totally knocks me out for sleep)
2. Xanax 1mg (sleep and anxiety)
3. Nyquil (sleep and eases flu-like symptoms that I always experience with w/d plus has some tylenol for pain relief)
4. Tylenol (aches and pains)
5. Prozac 40mg (thank God for prozac - depression and anxiety)
6. OTC Sleeping pills (I have been taking one every night for sleep even while on pain med for years now)

What I found was dehydration or vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause severe muscle cramps and spasms (for Nick) often referred to as Charley Horses. I have malabsorption syndrome due to the loss of over 3 ft of small intestine. I also take a diuretic for hypertension.
Though I take supplements they were not enough. I went back to my PCP and she ran some blood tests. I was deficient in Vit D, Vit B12 and a bit dehydrated.
I'm seventeen and I'm not sexually active, nor am I on any pills or other drugs. I don't have hot flashes, cramps, but lately my nipples have been aching for some unknown reason. This hasn't happened before and I plan on telling my mom about seeing a doctor about it, but at the same time, I'm really scared and worried that it might something serious. Would anyone have an idea as to what's wrong with me?
Now I am going cold turkey and all I have is some vitamins, and flexeril. The ortho doc put in Ultram for me. Should I take it. Will it help me with the w/ds.
Bottom line - my reg. doc was not in. New doc wanted to be a **** and said no meds. Go cold turkey and deal with it. I asked if there were any non-narcotic meds to take (clonidine ect.), he said nope.
Anybody have any Idea's. I need them. My wife understands how bad this is going to suck for me now.
I have been taking tramadol, lortab, and flexeril for arthritis for tmj for a injury I recieved form getting hit by a car when I was younger. I also suffer from from chrons and migraine's and take topamax and asacol and robinul and reglan. My doctor started me on clonazepam for 3 weeks to give my liver a rest form the lortab, but I already have been getting some side effects that scare me like moody ness, feely depressed and not feeling right.

I went back up to 1.5 pills. I have been here for 3 months. I am scared to go back down. I have no mental history or issues. I have a clean bill of health other than the Methadone. I do take Flexeril to sleep at night. I want off this medicine so bad. I am a Kaiser member. Kaiser wanted to give me Prozac... NO THANK YOU! They also wanted me to go to Group Therapy to help me deal with getting off this medicine. I have a very supportive family & friends.
Okay so over a month ago I was on muscle relaxer, a steroid, and my zoloft (which is only 25 mg). I was on flexeril 10mg for about two weeks. One night I had taken my steroid around 7, the flexeril was at 10 pm, and my zoloft at 9 pm like I had been every night and laid down right after taking the relaxer, on my right side on the couch. Then I felt my heart race and palpitate twice. So the next day the doctor told me not to take anything and nothing else happened.
through massage and needles, I felt absolutely NO pain whatsoever. Even though I called in for a prescription for Flexiril, I don't think I am going to pick it up . . think it is time I learn to manage stress and relax than to rely on a synthetic to "relieve it for me." Just my opinion. BTW, I was also given "liver herbal supplements" by my acupuncturist to start clearing out my system after years and years of narcotic and psychotropic medication . . .wow.
Hi, I too have spasms and cramps a lot. There is not much in the way of relief but I will share with you what I do. I usually take a flexeril (muscle relaxer by prescription) before bed so I don't wake at night in horrible pain. I try to soak in a hot bath with Epsom salts and Baking soda as often as I can. Some days I will apply asper-cream (for pain and inflammation) or I use a heating pad (helps to relax muscles). The one thing that helps me the most is a professional massage every two weeks.
He now has flexeril, and it isn't helping, it isn't stopping the cramps or lessening the pain from the attacks.
He has tried the supplaments, calcium and magnesium, potassium, he's tried hot showers, heating pads, stretching and relaxing his muscles, and applying force directly to the knots.
The knots are fist sized and larger when they occur.
He is 53 years old, hispanic, overweight, and has high bloodpressure under control by med.
In my personal experience, muscle relaxants are not very effective for acute leg cramps or rls -- they are much more effective for sustained muscle tension, spasm and limitation of movement. It depnds on the cause of the leg cramps, but most often mineral supplements are the most effective - calcium, magnesium and potassium. A banana (potassium source) at bedtime can work wonders!
RLS (restless leg syndrome) is a different matter.
