I use a stabalized ground flaxseed product to provide about 2/3 of my daily Omega-3 and a high quality fish oil capsule for the final third. The flax adds a pleasant nutty flavor to the small portion of yogurt I mix it with.
I use products with (if I remember right) a 6:1 ratio of Omega-3:Omega-6. I get plenty of O-sixes from my diet (they are easy for most of us) but don't eat nearly enough foods rich in O-threes to keep a good ratio going.
does anyone here use this on a daily basis? i've read a lot of good things about it and we just got some. we bought ground flax seed... but we haven't used it yet. can anyone tell me any other things about it i may not have read or possible different ways that you use it? thank you.
There seems to be way more info out now, than there was years ago. I heard that Riba does better when taken with fats. Flaxseed oil capsules good? They have Omega 3. How much fat? Would a small container of whole milk do it?
I am grateful to be on Tx and grateful that this forum is here.

By the way, I found a small nutrient lab in Buenos Aires today that produces and markets oil from a Peruvian plant called "chia". It's supposed to be the world's best source of omega-3 fatty acids, especially ALA, better than fish oil and better than flax seed oil. Could be true...
if ever your that constipated just buy flaxseed sprinkle it in your yogurt n drinks u can barely taste it but it works very well I'm 13 weeks 6 days n I had major constipation n by the night I had my flax seed problem was fixed n u dnt need a bunch just like 2 little pinches

s milk, whole milk yogurt, fruits like apples that are high in natural sugars, grilled cheese with natural cheese, ground flaxseed in bread and cookies (I make flaxseed oatmeal cookies)...
) and believes in going to the source for the nutrition I need. During my last visit, she turned me on to flaxseed, which you can get in the natural foods stores. They're tiny seeds that have very little taste and can easily be put in almost any food. I put 1/2 tsp in my cereal or yogurt once a day and now have all the Omega-3 I need without the expensive pills or having to worry about whether I'm eating enough fish. It also costs alot less - last weekend I paid only $1.
Actually, I don't use flax seed oil. I use flax seed meal, mixing it into granola, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. Its great for making corn bread.
But I'm not on triple therapy either.
And I love coconut anything!
Hello -- I have been trying to find out whether consuming flaxseed would interfere with the efficacy of the taxol / herceptin treatments that I am receiving for my breast cancer. I understand from a study done at the University of Toronto that flax seed may help to eliminate breast cancer. However, I would not want to consume anything that would interfere with my regular medical treatment. The cancer is in the left side of my lymph system. It is estrogen-receptor and HER-2 positive.

i just started treatment with telaprevir, and have used flaxseed oil for the fat on one dose and will use it again. the problem with flax seed oil is it goes rancid really fast. so if you are going to use it make sure you buy from a very reliable source that refrigerates the oil and check the date. yesterday i bought an 8 ounce bottle of barlean's flax oil that was pressed on 9/15/10 with an expiration of 3/15/11. so make sure it is supper fresh. rancid oil will cause liver damage.
It sounds like flax seed (I figured an ointment/liquid form for the eyes, one must read carefully) may be a good ongoing treatment as a simple food additive, if the dog will eat it. Is flaxseed a seed? Where does one purchase it - I can check Amazon to see what they offer, but it may be a grocery store item for human consumption.
I try to ruse Opt morning and night, and wonder if using it once a day and say "artivicial tears" (for humans) once a day.
Flaxseed is generally considered a good diet supplement for omega 3 and other good stuff - for humans. Is it good to add to dog food, either canned or home cooked? I suppose if you dog eats Kibble with water some could be mixed in there too.
I'm guessing the results may vary. I use ground flax seed in a lot of things. I started using it about a year ago when I kept bloating and thought it was just slow bowels or something. Yeah, it was something alright. Anyway, I sneak it into cookies, oatmeal, on cereal, in yogurt, even sprinkle a little on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It keeps me regular but I still get my tingles and hot flashes. Oh well. At least I'm not constipated too.
