Common Questions and Answers about Flax seed benefits cancer

flax-seed

Avatar n tn As far as I know, studies about flax seed and cancer are still in their infancy stage. The cancer more frequently associated with this is prostate cancer. I'm quoting this text from the american cancer society website: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Flaxseed_Ginseng_Show_Promise_for_Cancer_Patients.
Avatar n tn I understand from a study done at the University of Toronto that flax seed may help to eliminate breast cancer. However, I would not want to consume anything that would interfere with my regular medical treatment. The cancer is in the left side of my lymph system. It is estrogen-receptor and HER-2 positive. It's a little peculiar that it is estrogen-receptor positive, and this is a reoccurrence of a Stage 1 breast cancer that was previously determined to be estrogen-receptor negative.

612551 tn?1450022175 Flax seed is generally considered a good diet supplement for omega 3 and other good stuff - for humans. Is it good to add to dog food, either canned or home cooked? I suppose if you dog eats Kibble with water some could be mixed in there too.
250155 tn?1485295939 does anyone here use this on a daily basis? i've read a lot of good things about it and we just got some. we bought ground flax seed... but we haven't used it yet. can anyone tell me any other things about it i may not have read or possible different ways that you use it? thank you.
Avatar f tn I have tried different brands of fish oil on different occassions as well as my husband. I wished I could take it for the health benefits; but, in our case, it causes digestive upset such as bloating and gas. So, I've replaced fish oil with flax seed oil and we do not experience the gas and bloating we had with fish oil. In my case, I feel much better on flax seed oil, emotionally as well as physically.
16702 tn?1234090645 I'm guessing the results may vary. I use ground flax seed in a lot of things. I started using it about a year ago when I kept bloating and thought it was just slow bowels or something. Yeah, it was something alright. Anyway, I sneak it into cookies, oatmeal, on cereal, in yogurt, even sprinkle a little on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It keeps me regular but I still get my tingles and hot flashes. Oh well. At least I'm not constipated too.
163322 tn?1458676408 Actually, I don't use flax seed oil. I use flax seed meal, mixing it into granola, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. Its great for making corn bread. But I'm not on triple therapy either. And I love coconut anything!
Avatar f tn thanks, I will start using flax seed again, had stopped during tx. I usually grind them and sprinkle them over my food and salads etc...
2046312 tn?1360379600 Blend flax seed in coffee blender, mix with peanut or almond butter, and eat on an apple with a glass of milk. This was all I could stomach that early.
574118 tn?1305135284 htm strange it mentions the omega3-fatty acid. I have a friend epileptic, his father swears that flax seed oil ( linseed ) got him cured from epilepsy. I don't believe. So the relationship bipolarepilepsy can be sound and that bipolarity is partly neurological and partly psychological. This clarifies why drugs like anticonvulsents have a mood stabilization effect.
Avatar n tn i just started treatment with telaprevir, and have used flax seed oil for the fat on one dose and will use it again. the problem with flax seed oil is it goes rancid really fast. so if you are going to use it make sure you buy from a very reliable source that refrigerates the oil and check the date. yesterday i bought an 8 ounce bottle of barlean's flax oil that was pressed on 9/15/10 with an expiration of 3/15/11. so make sure it is supper fresh. rancid oil will cause liver damage.
Avatar m tn It makes them tons worse. I take a tsp. of flax seed each day and blend them in a smoothie and that doesn't seem to bother me. What brand of plant based omega 3 do you use? After my bad experiences with krill oil, I'm kind of scared to take anything but whole flax seeds.
Avatar n tn It sounds like flax seed (I figured an ointment/liquid form for the eyes, one must read carefully) may be a good ongoing treatment as a simple food additive, if the dog will eat it. Is flax seed a seed? Where does one purchase it - I can check Amazon to see what they offer, but it may be a grocery store item for human consumption. I try to ruse Opt morning and night, and wonder if using it once a day and say "artivicial tears" (for humans) once a day.
671251 tn?1236116671 It was very cheap and I made salmon cakes which were very good and quick to make. It also said that flax seed and flax seed oil are high in Omega 3 fatty acids without the worry of mercury. Flax seed flour is good to add to foods in place of some of the flour. It has to be ground or crushed to be used by our bodies. Walnuts are another good source too. I found a good recipe for salmon cakes in Joy of Cooking. Here is the recipe I used.
Avatar f tn I have read this anti-soy stuff for over three decades now, as I was in the health food biz as a store manager for 18 years. I can tell you it was all started by the same people who came out with the "Beef: it's what's for dinner" ads, which are paid for partly by the Dept. of Agriculture, just as the milk ads are. I don't doubt the theoretical questions raised about soy.
1976414 tn?1326171323 can I drink boost with flax seed oil in it for the fat content required for incivek doses
Avatar n tn sorry to ask...it may sound dumb, but does it matter if it's hyper or hypo to avoid iodine?
Avatar f tn I used flax seed meal for helping me keep my weight up, putting it into smoothies, oatmeal, etc. It makes wonderful cornbread. Check out this post: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn My eye doc for the dry eyes and blepheritis said to start taking flax seed supplements not fish oil supp that is flaxseed supp is better. Why is this cause I thought fish oil supp are better. Also how much flax seed oil pills should I take. I got 1000mg of them. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I use a stabalized ground flax seed product to provide about 2/3 of my daily Omega-3 and a high quality fish oil capsule for the final third. The flax adds a pleasant nutty flavor to the small portion of yogurt I mix it with. I use products with (if I remember right) a 6:1 ratio of Omega-3:Omega-6. I get plenty of O-sixes from my diet (they are easy for most of us) but don't eat nearly enough foods rich in O-threes to keep a good ratio going.
Avatar n tn My husband has severe dry eyes, and has started taking omega 3 and flax seed oil. It is working very well, but his dose (after gradual increase to a point of benefit) is more than recommended. Can he overdose on 3 times the normal dose of purified omega 3 fish oil..the brand he takes is Health from the Sea PFO pure fish oil liquid. He takes twice the dose of the flax seed oil (same brand name).
Avatar n tn ) and it did state that the diet can cause a spike in the marker tests especially the CA125, The CCheese and Flax seed combination is suppose to pull the cancer cells out of the body and also kill them, etc. I did send the urine test to the Phillippeans and it came back as 8 tenths of a point lower than the previous test that I sent them before I started the diet. Which means, there are less 'live' cancer cells in the body.
