Working out too hard can cause increase in resting heart rate. I am on 25 mg Atenolol because resting heart rate was too high. I wish I had known about this stuff two years ago, as I would have taken training more seriously. I am able to get my heartrate into proper zone during exercise and this has improved my blood pressure.

Avatar n tn Zone 3 is 70-80% of your target heart rate and results in increased aerobic and cardiovascular fitness. Sounds like you are training in high Zone 4 or even Zone 5. This level is for elite athletes and should only be visited for short periods by normal folk. You may want to spend more time doing light cardio. I agree with greendave, as a lot of us go full out and end up sustaining an injury or something worse. Get a good flexability program going to.

Avatar n tn Thank you, my concern is that on that specific day all I had done was go for a 2.2 mile run. I did not push myself or nor did I feel pushed it's just that I feel like my body is still working after a run or sometimes without any exercise. Also anything that I may exert energy doing, I can feel my heart racing sometimes for up to a few hours.

Avatar f tn Losing weight is a very good at and this is often accomplished through physical fitness (on a regular basis) and eating a healthy diet. High in vegetables, low in sugar/fat. Whole grains and fiber. This is one health issues that many can have a direct affect on by their own actions.
Avatar f tn I would start and get my heart to about 135 which is close to the lower end of my fat burning zone. But less than 2 minutes in, I start getting a piercing headache on the back, right side of my head. It lasts until I basically stop, lower heart rate, and move back to bike. Again, I can get my heart rate to 140 on the arm bike, really pushing it, and nothing happens. This is only happening on the elliptical. What in the world is the problem with using the elliptical?
Avatar m tn Even though I do take medication for heart rate, I am able to exercise in the heart zones, and have seen improvement in my blood pressure. Some improvement in HR. Acutally, lately, sometimes my BP is low now. Also, look into overtraining symdrome. Hope everything improves.
