First menstrual cycle after breastfeeding

Common Questions and Answers about First menstrual cycle after breastfeeding

menstrual-cycle

Avatar n tn A menstrual cycle starts with ovulating then your period so your menstrual cycle can start at any time generally if you are breastfeeding it comes 2 to 6 months after giving birth. So what I would recommend is have sex as much as possible because you have a 3 day period to get pregnant. And if you want to get pregnant as soon as possible try to get pregnant on your first menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn I stopped breastfeeding my third son, in early December 2013.. It is now 1/21/14... I haven't had a menstrual cycle since August 2011, before I became pregnant with him.. Now, I am wondering, (I have forgotten these things, from the first 2 babies) how long will it take my body to realize, that I am no longer breastfeeding and to remember about menstrual cycles..
Avatar m tn m currently in the process of a miscarriage and still breastfeeding my little one. I was wondering if my breastfeeding along with my miscarriage would affect my menstrual cycle? Has anyone here has a miscarriage and are still breastfeeding yet have a normal menstrual period? How long did it took for your period to come back?
Avatar f tn Bled for 2 weeks after birth and started normal menstrual cycle 4 weeks later. Id get a preg test just to be sure.
1147609 tn?1263583431 I had an early miscarriage in September (I was only 5 weeks pregnant) and my cycle was back to normal after one cycle (this was also when my first significant exacerbation started). It was right before Thanksgiving that I was diagnosed with MS and, in the middle of December, I started on Copaxone and Nuvigil. Over Christmas I was on three days of 1000mg of Medrol, followed by a taper pack. Is this normal for MS or is it probably just the drugs?
Avatar f tn Correct you do bleed right after birth for a couple weeks but that is not your menstrual cycle or what I'm referring too.
Avatar f tn your menstrual cycle just changed and thats not normal. i have a friend who havent had her period 6months straight. and she is healthy. so no worries for you. your are IRREGULAR when it comes to your period. unlike me, im regular, never skipped a month. regardless of giving birth. the cramps thing, just excercise or do sit ups 2weeks or a week before tour period. if you dont know when your period will arrive, just do brisk walking or cardio excercises. :D hope this helps.
1448937 tn?1284742036 The bleeding that started a couple of weeks after that is probably your cycle returning. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding. If you are breastfeeding then the hormones related to that often stop your menstrual cycle returning for a few months. When did you start taking birth control pills and what sort were they? If it's the mini pill then you can often get breakthrough bleeding.
1414894 tn?1288769040 The body produces progesterone at certain times of the menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining to flourish. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the womb lining by the end of the monthly menstrual cycle, the levels of progesterone in the body decrease. This causes the body to shed the womb lining (a menstrual ‘period’). If a fertilized egg successfully attaches to the womb lining by the end of the monthly cycle, progesterone levels in the body remain high.
Avatar m tn I am not sure if I am addressing your question but in regards to a menstrual cycle it varies with each woman. If you are breastfeeding it is usually between 6 months to a year, of you are not it usually returns after 2-3 months, but some women can take a lot longer for there cycle to return. If you are worried something is wrong you should see a doctor, but I think from what you are saying everything is normal.
Avatar f tn I'm in the process of receiving AI. My mentrual cycle is 28 days, however after my first AI Procedure I've had a second cycle in the same month! (Full blown bleeding). Going forward, which cycle do I now calculate from, the first one, or this second one? And it obviously now means, I've lost the "egg" and didn't "take"...? Is it necessary to still do a pregnancy test?
Avatar m tn I became father almost 4 months back and my wife still not have got her periods (menstrual cycle) back. Is it safe now to have sex or need to wait till her periods get resumed. she had caesarian operation. waiting for replies.
Avatar n tn You count the length of your cycle from the first day of your last period to the first day of your next period. The length of your mentration does not calculate. Once you know the average length of your cycle, you can find out when you are supposed to O.
Avatar f tn my menstral cycle was to start on the 27th but light pinkish spotting on the 30th can any one help thanks
Avatar f tn Totally safe. Actually decreases your risk of cancer later in life. It also helps your uterus contract after delivery, lessen your bleeding time, and can delay the return of your menstrual cycle (though you can still be VERY fertile - don't believe the old stories that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding). It helps to regulate your hormones and cam decrease the likelihood of postpartum depression. Breastfeeding is the best choice you can make for yourself and your baby.
Avatar n tn hi! i'm 31 years old and had my first menstrual cycle after having had my daughter twenty months ago begin about 17 days ago (so cycle day 1 was 17 days ago - my period ended about 9 days later). anyhow, for the past two days, i've been having bright red bleeding, about the size of a quarter that requires a liner. is this something i ought to be concerned about?
Avatar n tn Hi Moms~! I wanted to see if anyone has ever tried to conceive before getting next period after having a baby. My daugther is almost 4 months old, and my hubby and I want to try for another baby. I know many people may think we're crazy, but we'd love it if our children were close in age. My concern is that I haven't had a menstrual cycle since my daughter was born, so I don't have any idea when I would be ovulating, if I even am.
Avatar f tn Like they said above it's hard to tell when you will have your first menstrual cycle. If you are breastfeeding you may not get it for a little while. Also your hormones are completely changing after the birth of your baby. It's going to take your body awhile to adjust again. I believe I got my first period about 6 or 7 weeks after having my DD but that is also when I stopped breastfeeding too. Good luck and congratulations.
Avatar f tn Depends if ur breast feeding or not. I was breastfeeding consistantly and I didn't get my period til 3mo after my son was born. But I heeaarrd if u breastfeed u won't get ur period and then I heard if ur bby sleeps thru the night then ur period comes bk sooner even if ur breastfeeding.
1210901 tn?1334403731 But sometimes ovulation may return prior to menstrual periods after delivery and having unprotected intercourse may result in pregnancy. It is very difficult to predict when your ovulation would return but you can note down few signs of ovulation like during ovulation the cervical mucus(discharge) increases and is of watery or raw egg white consistency; there is increase in basal body temperature; breast tenderness.
