Fioricet and alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Fioricet and alcohol

oxycontin

Avatar f tn I started going through what I believe are withdrawl symptoms because of my alchohol and fioricet use (abuse). I drink 2-3 glasses of white wine every night and end up taking one fioricet in the morning to combat my headache and sluggishness from the wine the night before. Sometimes, I might take another fioricet if my headache returns in the afternoon, but that is no more than maybe once a week. I took my fioricet as ususal yesterday am and again in the afternoon.
951587 tn?1249227148 I have been addicted to pain meds on and off for several years. Right now I am taking/abusing Lortab 7.5 (ran out of my percs), and Fioricet with Codeine. When I can't get the Fioricet with Codeine, I get them without. In the course of one day, I can take about 15-20 Fioricet.... I hear that if you stop barbituates cold turkey you can have seizures. Is this really true? Why? Is it like an Alchoholic having withdrawals?
Avatar m tn But, i can say that, right now, i ve been without Fioricet since last friday, when i took 4 and Im feeling super anxious.. trembling, i have nausea and dizziness, cant think straight. Im not sure whats going on, but what i do know is that is not good. Im sure if I take the Fioricet I have in my kitchen it will all go away.. im sure. but after reading your responses in this Forum, i know I shouldnt.
Avatar f tn I'm realizing after finishing a benzo detox a week ago, I might also be facing a barbituate detox from the phenobarbital and the fioricet. Im already prone to seizures. I'm having trouble knowing if I just feel uncomfortable or if I'm in actual danger. I'm so terrified. When I left detox they told me itsunlikely I'd seize but they didn't say impossible.
Avatar n tn it could be stress related...lack of sleep..just about anything....go to a good NS and get tested....MRI's to rule any conditon that might be more serious.....since u mention some back trouble in the past and migraines...is y I suggest a NS and MRI's...I am not a dr or in the medical field....just like u going thru alot of the same stuff and trying to get answers so it all leads to relief.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome. You are feeling worse after 3 days because of Fioricets long half life of 72hrs. The withdrawal didn't really begin until the 4th day. Do I understand you were taking BOTH Fioricet and Fiorinal? Besides the insomnia and hallucinating (I've been there), there is high risk for seizures when stopping this drug abruptly due to the barbiturate in it. You really should find a new dr quickly, or even go to the ER.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Also Fioricet has both a barbiturate and caffeine. Caffeine should be limited to 200 mg or less per day while pregnant and one Fioricet has 40mg. Definitely do some research before taking Fioricet while pregnant. I've been taking Tylenol for my migraines while pregnant which doesn't entirely get rid of them but at least keeps them at bay. I have also found that warm showers and a heating pad on my neck helps some. Best wishes for you...hopefully your migraines will ease up!
Avatar f tn m vomiting, suffering from extreme anxiety and shaking so badly I can barely function. I have a box of suboxone left and was wondering if they might help me get thru the withdrawal of the Fioricet. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn The worst withdrawls and deadliest that you can go through are Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, and yes of course Barbituates. They all act on the same part of the brain and can alter the GABA in your brain forever. If you abuse them long enough you will be as unfortunate as me where you might have to take it for the rest of your life to function and just feel normal in this world. I do not wish this on my worst enemy.
Avatar f tn 15 years? Of how many fioricets? The butalbitol in the things is problematic......it binds the same receptor as benzo's and alcohol........ the abrupt cessation of any of those three can (doesnt HAVE to) be fatal. Probably a good thing to get a Doc in the loop for you with assistance here. Should you choose not get a Doc involved, you should go very long and very slowly with a taper to zero.......
Avatar f tn I was sick, but I have never really had a desire to go back to them. I have often said...put a table in front of me....put narcotics, alcohol, marijuana, and a cake. I would take cake. I have smoked pot and drank, but never to excess. I guess I am just not wired that way. It isn't hard for me to stay away from them....and again....I think it goes back to my "obsession" about my health.
Avatar f tn I am taking 2-Fioricet (butalbital, actaminophen, and caffeine- 50/325/40 )daily for tension headaches for 3 years and 1mg clonazepam at bedtime for 15 years for restless leg syndrome. I ran out of the clonazepam prescription-- last day was Saturday. Monday night was sleepless, and by Tues. late afternoon, became nauseated, dry heaving, shaking, chills--no fever. I thought I had the flu.
Avatar f tn Well not my migraines have gotten so bad that I had to go to labor and delivery and I told the doc that I did not want to be put on any narcotics because of fear of the withdrawls and my baby. So they put me on Fioricet. Well I just looked it up and well I guess I can become depended on it as well! I guess my question is. If anyone out there knows if this can effect my baby and if my baby will have withdrawls from it as well.
Avatar n tn What I can tell you though is that Propanolol is a Beta Blocker used for the preventative treatment of migraine headaches and that Fioricet is a butalbital that is sometimes used for the acute treatment of migraine headache.
Avatar m tn OMG ... I JUST found this post of yours after you responded to MY POST: "NEED HELP STOPPING FIORICET W/ CODEINE" last week ... and didn't realize til finding and reading THIS how much you DO know and DO understand what I'm going thru!!! Fioricet & Fiorinal both with AND without Codeine have been my drug of choice on and off for over 20 YEARS!
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, both Fioricet AND codeine are addicting. Fioricet should be tapered. So, either taper down or get the doctor to change you to plain Fioricet and taper down from that; eliminating the codeine right away. We are not allowed to offer tapering advice here but it's simple. Just cut back a small amount of the pills per day every week. Or ask the doctor to give you taper plan. Fioricet is difficult to detox from because the wd's are very strange AND dangerous...
Avatar f tn To be honest with you and everyone that will read this post, It is Monday now for me. I have been cold turkey since Wednesday morning dose at 1.5. I do not have a regular physician. I tried to get more pills to start a taper plan based on my usage per day. However, I live in state where doctors give out opiates but no one gives out fioricet. No one out there knows more than I do about how dangerous this is.
951587 tn?1249227148 If I have other pain meds on hand, then not as many Fioricet, but probably a combines total of about 25 pills a day..... I have been taking fioricet on and off for twenty years for my bad tension and migraine headaces. As you know, the more that I take now, the more headaches I get, which means I have to take more to keep my headaches at bay.. and when I stop, I get the rebound headaches which are just awful!
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I am new here, but i am looking for some help. I have been taking fioricet for many years and I have not used any fioricet since Tuesday night, (today is Saturday). I don't know if I went through any withdrawals, but I know that I was an utter mess... My hormones are all out of whack and I have been an emotional wreck anyway... So here's my question.
Avatar n tn t become addicted to fioricet and my family doc. was the one who said stop taking the fioricet and everything and just deal with your headaches. So, I unfortunately have to do this at home myself. Please help me figure our a plan that is safe and workable.
469210 tn?1219188128 I am taking a mess of pills right now looking for relief. Vicodin, Darvocet, Fioricet, Tylenol 3, I also take BusPar and Effexor. My body hurts so bad for two days after my injection that all I can do is cry. The Vicodin and Tylenol 3 I got from my friend. I save them like precious gems and only take them if it's unbearable. I feel ashamed. I guess I'm hurting myself even worse.
Avatar n tn I have a mild tolerance to hydrocodone because of the chronic pain I have due to my hernia. I have no insurance so I cant get the surgery yet, however my script for lortab is only $4. I am also prescribed Fioricet w/coedine for tension headaches. When I am out of lortab, I take the fioricet w/coedine for both headaches and hernia pain. I am 26, weigh 185lbs, and am 6'2. I take an average of 7-9 lortab a day and 6-7 fioricet a day (maybe only one over recomended doese, based on pain levels).
Avatar f tn I have taken fioricet for more than 30 years. I developed migraines at age 8 and was thrilled to find something that took away the pain. For at least five years now my doctors have been chastising me and telling me to stop taking fioricet. Even my insurance company has sent me warnings about fioricet. Since I can't get anyone to prescribe it for me I have been ordering it online for over two years and have maxed out credit cards and spent huge amounts of money.
Avatar f tn Im not a doctor but ive been on both hydrocodone and butalbital (generic vicodin and fioricet) for about 2 years now without any interacting symptoms. Oftentimes if you think you might be experiencing problems your body will release epinephrine (adrenaline) which could be causing your symptoms. Try to do everything to relax the next time it occurs.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Fioricet with Codeine for 5 years now for my migraines and I can't even imagine my life without it. I'm only 18, started when I was 13, and I've tried so many different medications for migraine prevention and zapping the migraines when I get them. Nothing else has come close to doing what the Fioricet with Codeine does.
Avatar f tn I am a mom of 3 and have been on Fioricet and norco for 4 years. I am so afraid I am not going to live to see my babies grow. I have tried to stop so many times. Every day I say Today will be better. Does anyone have any experience with Fioricet?
