Avatar n tn My son is 151/2 and is midway through puberty. He was growing in the 25th% and this past year he stopped growing. He is 65" tall. Ped did blood work and checked thyroid and everything was fine. Parents are 5'3" and 5'10". From the growth chart he should be around 5'9". Ped and Endo talked and they feel that this may be his final height and that's why he stopped growing. Does this sound right or is there other tests that should be completed?
1807991 tn?1438779770 t know if I would consider this is a side effect but before starting treatment my finger nails were kinda slow growing and always very brittle, the first 3 weeks of treating they stopped growing completely, but since then they have started growing like crazy and are really healthy and pliable now. I know it sounds crazy and I'm not sure what to make of it but it is happening.
Avatar n tn misshaped fingernails turning yellow kind of warbly and flat in spots and are not growing and splitting
Avatar f tn Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.
Avatar f tn My thumb nail stopped growing over 2 years ago. The skin that used to be covered by the nail is getting calloused. The very edge of the nail will grow a little bit, just enough where it catches on everything. It is vey hard to file it down.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry you are worried but you need to let them measure her on Monday at her appointment. I don't want to offend but I am trained to measure and it is still tricky for me to get right 100% of the time. Chances are that she and the baby are fine. I measured 34w at 37w and my son was born that same week. He was 7lbs 7oz and perfectly okay.
Avatar f tn Im concerned about why my fingernails are growing upwards turning a yellow color
Avatar m tn About 10 years ago I went to the nail salon and added nail tips to my fingernails. A week later I went back to remove them. Soon after removing the nail tips, I started noticing my nails on my thumbs started to change colors. I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus.
745313 tn?1323142298 I knew about the thinning hair, which I am experiencing to a much, MUCH worse degree than I expected (but hey, it's summer!! ) But I have never read anything about tx affecting your fingernails. It only makes sense, as they are both made of the same thing - but has anyone else had this problem? Mine are awful! They are like paper, thin, peeling, and constantly ripping, even though they are cut completely short.
Avatar m tn t think I had damaged the nail bed because it was growing out straight, but is funny looking. He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail. I keep it trimmed back to allow for new nail growth, but it gets to a certain point and develops this gross looking end to it. Any idea why it's taking so long for the nail to regenerate, or is this an indication of a possible underlying cause?
Avatar f tn This is so frustrating! I can't grow my fingernails out at all, because when I do, parts of my fingernails 'droop' over the tip of my fingers. It's not the entire nail -not like a club nail- it's just parts of the nail. Parts of the nail are straight while other parts of the same nail 'droop.' The mail becomes 'wavy.' Almost as if parts of the nail are stronger than the rest of the nail. All of my fingernails are like this.
Avatar n tn A zinc deficiency can cause white or light yellow spots on the fingernails.
Avatar m tn I have given blood and now I am just waiting for those results. The lesions have stopped coming and growing, but they are not getting any better. Hopefully they will rule out Lupus and in the next couple of weeks they will go away. Thank you again for the helpful information, I will post up here in the next few days when I get my results.
1110676 tn?1265812109 been doing this for more than a month now. the growing fingernails seems to be ok and not sunken anymore. but i have to monitor for progress. ill let you know. thanks alot!
1880475 tn?1579232941 They say oral was stopped due to damage to liver, but its the only thing, the shampoo and cream will only kill and we can now confirm its a fungus, totally a fungus. Spores are inside us, and soft tissues including under fingernails, and if you pay attention besides the traditional PATM effects on people, pay attention to people suddenly playing w their cuticles, so attacks there and when infested like us, its head, groin and under fingernails.
Avatar n tn ve noticed the ends of all my fingertips slowly turning red.... only on the top side of my hands, the side with the fingernails.... My fingernails are healthy and growing/normal, but the skin surrounding the nail is very red.... I also can add that my hands are ALWA:YS cold, and I have had a tingly feeling in my fingertips a few times, only in a few fingers, it went away after a minute or two.....
1674823 tn?1307263620 I have been noted to have domed fingernails but not apparently 'clubbed' They have been like this as long as I can remember What might cause domed nails but not clubbed. ???
Avatar f tn The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. Am I wrong and is something else going wrong This discussion is related to Fingernails indicative of thyroid problems?.
1067423 tn?1267740670 Hey there, girl.....I don't know. It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start.
Avatar f tn I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.
Avatar n tn In April 09 I was taking 125 mcg and I felt great. My hair had stopped falling out, my fingernails had started growing again, I was having regular bowel movements, I was sleeping all night, I just felt like I use to feel before I had my thyroid removed. When my levels were checked in June, my Tsh was 0.005 and my primary care doctor changed me to 112mcg. I have started having the symptoms again. I want to know if it is ok for a person to have low tsh levels.
