t a Thyroid question, but I thought it might be a metabolic problem and if you could help. All during my youth, I had these solid white patches under my fingernails in different spots, on and off....Very obvious white spots that aren't normally there.
On and off for the last three years my fingernails have been turning completly white, only to retain its pinkish color and return white again. During these times when my fingernails turn white I feel like I'm going to get the flu, but never quite do and lasts for a couple of weeks accompanied by fatigue. For the last 6 months I have had loose stools just about everyday. Doctors ran blood test and didn't find anything.
8 out of my 10 fingernails are slightly swollen and red at the cuticle pus is oozing out of a couple also 2 of them have a white patch on .
Hi, occasionally my finger tips go a very dark purple along with my fingernails, with the middle finger going white as skin looks just after it has been under pressure. The fingers do not feel cold, but feel slightly numb, but when I put them to my face I feel that they are freezing cold. I've heard that this is bad circulation, but I'd like to know if I should be worried at all or if there's anything I can do.

I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.
Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.
Purple fingernails all the time mean Raynaud's? Mine turned purple a month ago, just after overexercising and since then they remained purple, is this normal? Also, the coloration doesn't seem to change with temperature, does it still mean it is Raynaud's?
The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. Am I wrong and is something else going wrong

The fresher the fruits and vegetables, the better nutritional value. If your mother is concerned, suggest going to your MD and getting your blood tested. It will indicate if any nutrient, vitamin or mineral is deficient or not. Thank you for your question.

My kidney and liver function tests are in perfect condition and my blood work came back good, sept for low neutrophil and haematocrit. I have spoken to 3 doctors so far and none of them knows what exactly is going on. So far, I have found only one post online about someone experiencing the same issue, but he abandoned his post so never got to find out whats was wrong. Not sure if this is related but I have digestive issues and my fingers are slightly clubbed.
It has lasted about 10 days getting more sensitive each day though tapering off the last few days and remaining the same. It could be a plantar wart someone said but it is white and does not have much of a raised portion 1/32 of an inch in diameter. What to do?
I have never seen or heard of anybody else with this problem and I was wondering what the cause of it is and if it has anything to do with my nutrition. I understand that normal and healthy fingernails are pink at the base, with a white tip. My tips only stay white for a very short time before slowly turning clear. I have vertical ridges on my thumbs as well and peeling fingernails and the peeling fingernails is due to being hypothyroid. So you might want to check your TSH level as well. Have you felt tired? The high blood pressure can change with going down on meat, and dairy products, no oil or fried foods and exercising more. If you are type 2 diabetic there is a diet that will reverse both of these but it is vegan and oil and fat free and takes a lot of work to get used to.

Now what? They hurt when you push on them, but I don't remember hitting them hard enough to cause this kind of bruise. I see my hepatologist for the big decision on when to treat and with what. I hope it's not still whether to treat, unless it is because someone else posted that another really good drug is getting FDA approval in August. Should I show them to him or call my regular doctor? Meanwhile, my fingernails are getting "wavy" and one is split down the middle.
